I am proud to say that I became the proud grandfather of two beautiful twin girls on Dec. 18, 2016... they were born 2 months early and they will have to spend some time in the hospital until they put on some weight, but they are doing well... and so another chapter in life begins.13 points

This handsome guy is my neighbors dog. He's the very definition of a rescue, a DEC officer found him abandoned in the woods on Long Island. The vet thinks he was out there at least three weeks, he was all bones and his ears were frostbit. He lived with some officers for a couple weeks and they named him Bill but they couldn't keep him so I drove down and got him for my neighbor. He's an awesome dog. They asked the vet why he was so docile at first and the vet said "because he's grateful". Anyway I'm watching him this weekend so I posted him up! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk5 points

There was one buck that I was hoping to see when I put my cams back out the last day of muzzleloader season. I was pretty surprised to see "Hooks" had shown up several times in the past week!!! I would love to snag his sheds. Hopefully, he is more visible this summer. Not the greatest genetics but a pretty cool buck!4 points

To me, one of the best parts of running trailcams is the opportunity to follow individual bucks over multiple years.. You never know which deer will be the one you end up developing a history with (hardly ever the ones that you want to see grow up). I first noted this buck back in the summer of 2014 as a 2 year old 6-point. Digging through pics from a few months prior, I realized that he had showed up on the farm in January as a broken racked yearling . It was apparent that he wasn't ever going to be a high scorer but had some really cool character to his rack. I was happy to see him show backup on cam during post season scouting. Unfortunately, he was already shed out and appeared to have been wounded during season. With the all the deep snow/frigid weather we had through Feb and March, I was certain he wouldn't make the winter. He proved me wrong and I was shocked to see him in a bachelor group in late June! It took another month before he showed up on one of my cams. You could see the scar above his shoulders from his close call the previous fall. I got some good pics of him on scrapes during bow season and then he disappeared, but once again showed up in late December but only one time. I did have several sightings of him in a neighboring beanfield carrying his antlers into late February and was excited to see what he would over the summer. The drought that we experienced in the Finger Lakes Region really affected the deer's patterns and he never showed up on any of my cams over the summer and left me wondering what he turned in to...3 points

I remember when I first started my sister and I walked in at stewart to meet my dad there was a group of hunters including my dad and when we said morning .The others were like girls. They wanted to know where we would be hunting so they would be farther away from us . My father was so proud of us . He said they are my girls and they most likely shoot better then you and will sit longer and respect people better then you. Hi girls .3 points

I am a lone hunter...I liked camp for a day or two but before we had these home lands I staggered my hunting to go with when camp was empty. Being the only bow hunter, before teaching the kids I had the place to myself...and the same with Turkey...I hunt a bit harder than the guys, always have...I don't use the 4wheelers unless dragging is needed,go in and leave usually after dark . Use scent control, calls, scout, and plan. Also stand sets, I have many many many more sets than they would ever have and ground blinds. The woman I've met seem to enjoy being lone hunters as well....not as crazed as me,but independent.3 points

I find it laughable the leftist anarchists suddenly have no problem with the so called "separation of church and state" when churches want to help criminals evade prosecution. The hypocrisy is predictable.2 points

Considering the fact Uptown's past predictions were all wrong, I think it's safe to say the future will be the exact opposite of all of his negative predictions. He has not been correct once so far. Why expect anything to change?2 points

Here's the gateway drug goose from last year. The guides had me pose with my duck stamp, they got a huge kick that I was using my own stamp on my first waterfowl hunt. Only the top goose is mine; the others are from the good shooting from the rest of the group. Foolishly I didn't think to test the nontoxic shells I was using that day in my shotgun, and my gun didn't like to eject them properly and jammed after the first shot. I will still tickled as could be to have been there honestly so I wasn't even mad! CRCS is who sponsored my hunt and I am very thankful. This was in Allegany.2 points

Didn't see a thread dedicated to predator hunting, for this season, so here it is! Successful hunts? Unsuccessful hunts? Tips? Gear used? Comments? Lets hear em! Went this morning on the farm property for our first coyote/fox hunt. Conditions were perfect! And we saw some tracks on the way in. Set up with a bunny decoy, a foxpro E-caller and a double dog mouth call. After 15 minutes or so, had two coyotes trot across the top of the ridge about 300 yards away. But we never got them to show down where we were set up. So after 45 minutes, we picked up and moved a half mile to a 40 acre field bordering a thick swampy area and got nothing again. But saw no tracks in this area either. It was fun to get out, and next weekend is a full moon so hoping for more action then! Still, we got some fresh air, a nice walk and a few good laughs! So the coyotes and fox won this one. Hoping to get on the scoreboard next week!1 point

So you know I talk to people..I'm in getting blood work done and chat up this young kid...of course I get around to hunting. His family hunts ...he has his tags but doesn't,you can guess where they go. Anyways he mentions his grandmother." She's a bit of a whinner. don't bother her during hunting season" . A family members car broke and asked her to take her somewhere...he says she starts whinning..."It's the last day of deer season and you want me to miss it!" I just laughed, my family knows just leave me alone I'm hunting!...I told him to give her a break, for at our age we realize it very well could be our last day to hunt. So this got me to thinking...I have really run into a lot of woman hunters this past year...and ladies my age and older,as well as young girls...You guys in these gun/bow clubs should look into this and have a banquet celebrating woman hunters...Good PR,and perhaps more members to recruits something to get more woman to take their course ,for real,. Set up mentoring, private lands to first timers....just a thought..we don't bite...Well unless you screw with our hunting time1 point

With my smokeless muzzleloader I'm not too worried about long distance shooting. I'm an inch high at a 100 yards and low at 200 yards. I don't have the actual count on how many deer I've killed with it but it has to be close to 20 now....and another 7-10 with other muzzleloaders and there hasn't been a deer killed past 175 yards yet with any of them. Maybe you have some opportunities in your locale for some longer distance shooting and can justify the BDC reticles but for me, I'm VERY confident out to 200 then I'm probably passing on the shot. Good luck with your choice!1 point

At first I though he/she was not the sharpest pencil in the box, and got his/her hunting lesson backwards. Soar high, stare down, locate object of prey, then swoop in for the kill......uh....no....I'll stand on ground, stare up, locate object of prey.....and swoop up? Or, perhaps a form of hunting bird of prey dyslexia. Then it dawned on me, He/she was not a predator as much as a prankster. I remember doing this same move as a kid in the schoolyard. Nope....not falling for it! Hahahaha1 point

I have to wonder what it is like to be completely broken with such a hopeless and helpless outlook. Such miserable people they must be. I know it sure does help those with their status-quo ideas and attitudes cruise along maintaining that system. At least it did until this last election. I wonder what your darling Hilary would have done to "change the workings of D.C." As near as I can see, the only changes she wanted to make was to further entrench that system to participate (further) and benefit (further) from the corruption...... not eliminate it.1 point
