  1. I just finished this up for a buddy of mine and member of the forum. He shot this buck a couple years ago. There is 20 hrs in it and I took a photo after every two hours if anyone wants to see the progression.

  2. The fines are case by case. Four years ago I caught two guys jacking deer at night on my property. They ended up getting fined $2500 each, lost their firearm, lost their licenses for five years. It would have been nice if they lost their vehicle as well...

  3. I wonder what made him a jackass. Standing up to an oppressive government or being conservative?

  5. If I were to classify a crossbow, it would be with archery equipment. Pretty simple I think. So full inclusion is the way to go.

  6. One thing about safes is you put everything in one easy to steal box. Bolt it down, keep.it out of sight of the causal visitor, and if it's under 500 pounds consider loading the bottom with bags of shot . Mine is in a hidden room in the basement , bolted to the floor and wall, and not all my guns are valuables are in it . Brain storm , leave a cheap locker type safe out in the open filed with junk.

  7. Hey guys, im inquiring for a friend, her father left her a gun that even local gun shops do not know anything about .. so i was hoping someone here could maybe help. She is looking to just get info about it, the make, possible model, era, you name it.. the only thing the shops and local museum could tell her is, that it seems to be a revolving shotgun from Belgium back in the 1800's... maybe If anyone has some knowledge of the gun or a place to inquire about it, we would greatly appreciate that... Thanks in advance

  8. You have a fellow asking for some help for a friend and instead of offering some help in identifying the piece, you toss out a pretty big number (for some, but not all) to snatch it up from an uneducated individual. The OP didn't ask for offers nor did he say a damned word about selling the gun, just looking for information. So now it's painfully obvious that you know something about the pictured firearm but aren't going to help out. Classy move...............

  10. I sure as hell would. The Feds are clearly out of control, and are NEVER held accountable. Ruby Ridge, Waco, and Fast & Furious, all resulted in the deaths of innocents. How many Fed agents were arrested for these atrocities? ZERO!

  11. I find it very disheartening when I read these reports with the laughable fines imposed. Why can't NY be more like other states when it comes to serious violations like poaching? Certainly thousands of dollars in fines, confiscating weapons and vehicles, and loss of hunting privileges for a few seasons would be more of a deterrent than what is done now. DEC lists conservation law violators in St. Lawrence County Thursday, January 28, 2016 - 11:45 am The state Department of Environmental Conservation Region 6 office has released the following list of violations of conservation law and court action: • Donald L. Maroney, 54, Butternut Ridge Rd. Canton, charged 11/27/15 Town of Clare, Place Salt on Lands Inhabited by Deer. 12/10/15 $25 fine, $75 surcharge, Judge Camp • James F. Barse, 40, St. Rt. 56 Raymondville, charged 8/21/13 Town of Norfolk, Unlawful Open Burn. 1/5/16, $50 $2.50, Judge Grubee • Connor J. Hoben, 20, Clyde Allen Dr., St. Albans, Vt. Charged 11/27/15, Town of Clare, Hunt Big Game over Pre-established Bait Pile. 11/27/15 $50 $2.50 Judge Camp • Edwin M. 17. Leave me out of it Steve863. I never said anything about the shooting other than I was waiting for factual evidence. I never blamed the Feds for shooting him. But I do find it interesting that some folks take pleasure in the death of a human being, who was provoked by government aggression, and say it makes their day. That has to be some kind of defect. I imagine it will make your day when the Fed eliminates the 2nd Amendment and starts shooting everyone who refuses to comply with complete confiscation. You're on the wrong side in my opinion. That goes for anyone who agrees with you too.

  20. Yeah Bubbs, the video proves this doesn't it?? Why didn't your eyewitnesses mention that he was reaching into his coat for something? How convenient to forget such things when they want to sucker you guys into believing them. Funny how you, VJP, Papist, Philo haven't said $#!+ since Curmudgeon posted that video this morning. Do you now still feel that the law was at fault for filling him up with holes? They knew these guys were armed, right? There was little doubt about that since these guys brandished guns from the get go. I absolutely love it that there is video proof to prove all you conspiracy theorists WRONG here!! If it had somehow proven you right you would have been all over the video like flies on you know what. Now there isn't a peep out of you. You guys would have stretched this crap out for years like you have with Waco and Ruby Ridge. Now it looks like the air has been taken out of your balloons doesn't it? Hahaha, boy this made my day today!!

  21. Amazing talent you have there. Seems to me that you could make quite a few dollar with that as a sideline. You could pretty-much ask whatever you wanted for work of that quality.

  22. It would be interesting if Bubba could dip into his Justice of the Peace experience and shed some light on how fines are arrived at. I have no idea, but it may even be completely arbitrary and maybe even without any guidelines. How about it Bubba? Anything to offer on what criteria sets the fine levels and why there would be such humongous disparity from one violator to the next or one township to another?

  23. Agree, so far so good on a mild winter. We really won't know how the critters rebound for a few years though. As above posts stated, hoping for a non wet spring for the turkeys.

  24. I'm not sure if you answered my question. All I see is a bunch of words in quotes and broken sentences. I'm not a highly educated man. But what you wrote makes absolutely no sense to me. Maybe it's some kind of code?

  25. Very surprised he didn't have some sort of an alarm or surveillance system...not as if they don't have the funds for such things. Too bad.

  26. Couldn't agree more! It has been great seeing turkey on the hill this winter...that just never happens. They have kept the woods turned up eating. As far as breeding it all depends on any late storms that could appear...Lets just hope there isn't much cold rain this spring.

  28. So I have not been seeing any bucks all year. In fact only a spike. Tons of sign so I keep plugging the time in. Well in a day dream I look out about 100 yards and there is a bear headed right to me. She worked her way to about 7 yards and I drilled her. She went about 60 yards and piled up. Still can't believe it. She weighed in at 145#dressed and about 5ft nose to tail. She had a beatifull coat. We believe she is 4-5 years old. No cubs yet. I will find out once they Dec test the tooth.

  29. As many others experienced, sightings were slow this past season. I was happy to fill my freezer with a nice mature doe though. Even though I didn't see many deer, I was confident they were around, and the warm weather was putting them off. I have cameras up year round for quite a few years now, and have a good idea of what critters are about. Yesterday I pulled my game camera from my back corner (overgrown apples) and was delighted to find quite an assortment of deer, including at least 5 different bucks over a 4 week season, starting the w/e after northern tier closed. Just nice to know I perception was at least partially correct. With the mild winter so far (the relatively heavy snow fall over the past couple weeks really isn't anything much there) I am looking forward to next season already.

  30. A friends gun safe is the old AM N A's ( I know I spelled that wrong ) department store safe from the Eastern Hills Mall. Had to lift the house foundation up to get the safe in the house. Talk about a walk in safe !!! We joke it also doubles as a bomb shelter.

  31. so lets put in guns and f up everyone else right?

  32. technically his dad's safe but it still sucks. guns have great sentimental value. money can't replace that. I may never shoot another deer with my browning slug gun now that we're rifle but I'd never think of selling it.

  33. so I'll bite. Why do you want a loaded long gun? traditionally my understanding is this law helps to enforce and prevent spotlighters and road shooters. If your bolt action rifle or even your turkey gun serve as your defense then you're doing it wrong.
    1 point
  34. I believe the long gun law is an environmental conservation law ,and was written to help with charges related to road hunting . Similar to the fact that you can only have 3 shells in your shotgun hunting water fowl , but more in it behind the bedroom door .

  36. I am convinced that they write laws without ever researching similar laws. Two similar laws written at different times by different people and perhaps even by different legislatures. One hand never knows what the other is doing.

  41. To be consistent, I say,do what a cop tells you to do and you won't be shot. Looks to me he wanted to be a martyr. Uptown and Wildcat, being that you both take liberal Progressive positions I'm guessing you will say that this shooting is another example of trigger happy cops shooting a guy that was clearly attempting to surrender? Law enforcement is going to spin this and the media is going to under report it. Why? Because they are afraid of an uprising of the silent, law abiding, overwhelming majority of this country that is fed up with an unconstitutional oppressive Government that our founding fathers were so afraid of and tried to protect us from with the constitution and by sacrificing their lives from an already oppressive Government.

  45. I have taken does with Crop Damage Permits in the summertime when it has been 80+ degrees with no problem and no spoilage . $10 to apply for the anterless tags could really place a financial burden on a person after spending a few grand on guns , archery equipment , scopes , clothes , and a camp .

  46. The post is really a "is Pepsi or Coke better" . Many pros and cons for both in that size firearm. Best advise I was given was to get as many in your hand as possible and shoot as many as you can to see what feels good to YOU.

  47. I move one rack to just above the water an and make sure that it covers the area below the fish. It catches any drippings and clean up is a breeze. no stink. I size it to leave about 1" to 1/12" around the outside of it for heat and smoke.
