How's That Freezer Lookin'?

Been trying to get the remainder of my venison used up, to make room for some fresh stuff. I'm down to 1 package of tenderloin and 3 packs of steaks, so 4 single serving sized meals.

 

Getting yours used up??

I still have like 20-30 lbs (from 3 deer) I try to save like 10lbs for camp.

It's pretty much gone. But the freezer is filling up with vegies from the garden.

I have a VERY sad freezer ..... no deer last year and only hope for this year !

I have enough steaks and loins to get us through deer camp and enough sausages to get us to our next February sausage making.

I have a lot left. I need to make some more Italian sausage and a couple of other things like jerky and whatnot. I really need to get my darn buck head over to the taxidermist so it's not taking up all the room in there anymore lol.

I have a about 8 packs of meat left. Mostly ground or stew and mane 1 roast.

i always end up with a lot of ground. we're down to a dozen or so steaks and some sausage. Went through the chops a long time ago. We eat it at least 2 or 3 times a week.

Funny, I did inventory yesterday. 2 usually get the wife,daughter and I almost thru the year. 3 deer would be perfect. A little ground left, roast, few chops and steaks. Going to have to stretch it out to make it to next loading. A lot of the chops and steaks get cubed, dry rubbed, dab of jalapeno cream cheese and small piece of bacon toothpicked and put on smoker. Heavenly ! I've had quite a few people who've never had venison try it and ask for seconds and thirds. Hopefully this year 3 hit the freezer. Nothing like the feeling of a full freezer after season in anticipation of all the great eats ahead.

I hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question but do you have a special prep for freezing them?

Still have a decent amount of moose from last year. This is despite sharing it with my three friends who came. Guess it's time to give away more. Maybe chili night at the next club meeting too.

I have 6 packs of ground left. I am also starting to put vegitables in freezer. Not make sauce this year, first time in years I haven't made.

I am in good shape. Getting down but will make it into bow. Getting stocked up with some fish.

 

Did pull out my last 15 pounds of stew to grind up with some pork butt to make pepperoni this week.

Number of deer in a area does not make it a for sure thing that you will fill all the tags.

no but it certainly helps. i would never call out a hunter but will add that there's a few spots i hunt where you're basically guaranteed a flat head every hunt. i know that i'm lucky.

Ya' got that right! Funny how the dozens of deer I get on my cams all summer just magically disappear an hour before sunrise on opening day.

Freezer is getting a little lean, but it needs a good cleaning anyway. Squirrel season opens in a little more than a week!

My freezer is pretty much full.  We got a good deal on a side of beef and a whole pig this summer, not to mention the salmon and halibut that I brought back from Alaska last month.  Heck, I have almost 100# of beef, pork, and fish in the freezer at my mom's house!  I'll be working on filling her freezer up some more come Oct 1!

Venison is getting low,but it will last until a fresh supply arrives..

Top priority right now is to use up last year's squirrels, since season opens soon.

I'm saving the rest of mine to make jerky for the first day of hunting season. Maybe 12-15 lbs
