Core
Thanks, guys. I really did work hard for this. I have put in tons of time at the range, reading, ~16 trips out, scouting, learning. This deer was 22 yards. This shot was not as good as I had thought. I was right it was far back. I think I BARELY got lung but I clearly did and there is a sucking sound when pressing on the chest as well. Have not found the arrow. Quartering away must have saved me else it would had missed vitals. Height was good because this was from a steep shooting angle. I have been on deer three of my last four trips so I think I will be in better shape next year. But I need to end on an up note. I was really worried what would happen to motivation if I finished the year without anything after busting my ass for it. I'm assuming a nice 8 I have been after so not sure if Im totally happy for him or hating. Lol. He a mess with adrenaline and not sure any details of shot so gonna give it an hour be looking for arrow, blood to determine next move. landtracdeerhunter
So went to blind...fawns in front field and not one single deer...pull cam card no deer since the 6th ...and 2 small ..6 and 4 and that big 8t from the 4th...tons of doe...I have no idea where they have all gone but I am feeling uneasy about it...I have 2 turnip plots barely touched...they are eating something some where during the day....they all look bloated on the cams. All week has been quiet here. The young'ins are only ones showing during hunting hours. Doe and bucks have all gone nocturnal. Another behind close doors breeding cycle this season. Maybe this cooler weather will ignite something. Due for one on the ground, past years showing.
Hock3y24
Nice one core, I got a roadkill button buck right by my house at 715 am after work if that counts. He was still warm and no visible damage. I'll take 25 lbs of free meat anyday.
two 10s
What a difference a day can make. Saw one crossing the road (to our woods) as I got dressed, heard one walking in, saw another and had one line buck walk by about 150 yards out. Going up for lunch in 15 min, be back out at 1:30.
