Well while getting coffee I look out front and there is a deer right in the middle of the front yard
So put on the big boy clothes and headed out back
Bunch tracks close to the yard and the tower. As I headed to the far stand not a track. It is actually beautiful out. I’ll prob only sit here an hour and ease back around around the tower end.
Gotta love my old wool bibs on days like this

1 more day in jersey then 5 hour drive home. Work tomorrow then 3 days with smoke pole

 Cold some snow and most people wont be out. Sounds good to me.

They are un-insulated.  In the extreme cold, I wear my Filson wool pants under the bibs.  And yes, very expensive but I have no problem paying extra for high quality knowing I'll get a lifetime of use!  ...My wife and I bought Filson wool bibs as our wedding presents to each other :-)

man bitter cold getting into the truck this morning, but without the wind and all the fresh snow I'm jealous of anyone who made it out. My last hurrah starts tomorrow afternoon if I can get one of my meetings to go short.

Decided to go for another slow walk and sit today. Got to the back side of my foodplot and bumped a real nice 8 and his lady friend at only 30 yards, buck gave me a nice quartering away shot but no tag for him. Now sitting on a log. Heres my view.

In the office for a couple hours. Will get out for the PM hunt and have all Fri sat sun to do some doe patrol... Oddly enough, it's been 2 seasons since I got a slick head.

Just got home in 4L. Going to stuff the stomach with warm food, gear up and hopefully be up a tree by 2:30. Taping hand warmers to my socks today. Snow bow... Buck or doe will do.

Met two doe on the way to my stand. They saw me first. If only I had been 30 mins earlier... damn. Switched plans, sitting a different stand now. Hope they come through the clearing.

No joy this am.  Scouted for tracks and found the best sign about 50 yds from my current stand.  Also pulled 2 cards to find that the deer have gone decidedly nocturnal.  Guessing that I need to change trees and hope one makes a mistake

so i'm in the shitter at work. the guy a stall down finish his deal and is walking towards the sinks when he sneezes real bad. then out loud "god dammit!"

i couldn't help myself from laughing out loud.

After I got down, and the light faded, I watched a single deer walk through that opening... man. They're up and moving here in 4L. I also missed another group digging for acorns, judging by the sign.
