  1. I feel what growalot is saying. It's not even worth it to get involved in half of these posts anymore. Too many guys here just don't know how to let anything go and take crap to the next level. It really is disturbing to listen to some of the computer savvy ego-maniacs. Truth is, I happen to get my point across sometimes better in type than in person. I know a lot of guys around the web that would blow your mind in a conversation face to face, but they don't convey those thoughts to type very well so not to offend the internet secretaries.

  2. I noticed there is not lot of supporting members on this web sight. I would think to believe that everybody that likes to visit this web site or have an opinion would donate to this cause so its here for now and the future. Also noticed that some people have 500 posts or more is still not a supporting member. So I would think you would want to donate $10 to the cause. C'mon man. You blow $10 every time you walk into a sporting good store. Buck it up.

  5. Here's mine, my first deer taken sometime in the early/mid '80's town of Ontario just across the Webster line. Used my Dads Rem. mod.11 with bird barrel. Put some Tinks 69 on cotton balls placed inside a film canister, because someone told me that worked lol. Well it did he walked out of the woods into a winter wheat field right to it. I had to take a digital pic of the paper pic. and yes thats one bad a$$ sweater !

  6. Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38 when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate. their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air. they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there. they were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say. they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day. "where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse. "this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house." when what to their wondering eyes did appear, but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near. He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same. then He opened His arms and He called them by name. and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring those children all flew into the arms of their King and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace, one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face. and as if He could read all the questions she had He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad." then He looked down on earth, the world far below He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand, "Let My power and presence re-enter this land!" "may this country be delivered from the hands of fools" "I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!" then He and the children stood up without a sound. "come now my children, let me show you around." excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran. all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can. and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight, "in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT." 7. Teddi (my 8 year old) an I talked about Sandy Hook today. We decided to put out a stocking for each person lost that day. The stockings are placed on a giant spruce tree in my front yard. The owners told me there was something special about that tree and in time it may come true. It was a fitting place............

  9. "Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man gainst his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American.... [T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people." (Tench Coxe, The Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.) Any and all laws pertaining to the ownership of firearms are flatly Unconstitutional, and should be stricken from the record.

  10. Most people bashing crossbows have never shot one..they are loud and equivalent to a modern compound. Range and accuracy wise. They still require practice especially pulling it to cock it evenly and consistently. I truly believe their biggest complaint is others will be joining their season, possibly taking their deer..

  11. Bowhunting on a college campus would take several weeks to get even close to what a few nights of bait and shoot will do. Like it or not, sometimes these things are the best choice.

  13. This is the first photo I can find of myself with deer. I am in the middle. Taken in Vermont circa 1982. Of course not my deer but my dad and grandfathers who got me into Hunting from a very young age. I was very happy on this day.

  14. The NRA's cause is not gun violence... it is the protection of gun rights... and they did unveil a meanful contribution to make sure this doesn't happen again... I think the real sensitivity comes in the fact that they didn't make any statement for a week out of respect for the victims, which was far more sensitive than the barrage by the media and anti gun crazies and there continuos exploitation of the tragedy.
    1 point
  15. How much more sensitive can you get when speaking about the importance of bringing our schools to the same protection afforded our elected officials... the insensitivity lies with those elected officials charged with keeping the American public safe that would protect themselves before affording the people that same protection. Lapierre got it right when he said that the only way to stop an armed bad guy is an armed good guy... gun bans will do only one thing.. take the gun away from one of those armed men and from experience we know it won't be the armed bad guy.

  16. I donate because I like the site. Also don't want to see it shut down and also it seems to be local. I see with 1200 and more post you visit often figure you want to support the cause. I started this thread cause I noticed there was a lot of visitors with A LOT of post and they were not supporters. MERRY XMASS. have to go shovel now for the third time in one day.

  17. It seems that Elmo has been drinking the Ray Kelly/Bloomberg punch. This has nothing to do with guns from Georgia, and everything to do with the cultural and moral decay of society. Who gives a **** where the gun came from ? We should be concerned with why feral inner city youth, and adderall fogged suburban losers feel the need to shoot people. They both have things in common. ZERO respect for human life, lack of supervision, zero consequences for every time they have ****** up in life... You can't blame Hollywood, video games or any other crap. Blame their "parents", or "parent" as the case may be. No law or set of laws is going to protect us from people that just don't give a ****. Passing more of them is proof that our gov't doesn't trust us not to act like animals. ***Edited for unacceptable language***

  19. Not only would people line up, you could probably charge a registration fee and the program would pay for itself and the deer would be gone. Always wondered what they do with the meat in a bait and shoot program. My Town opens the town land to bow hunt only. I think there is about 350 acres of park and they took 26 deer this year. I enjoy participating in the bow hunt. Allows me to hunt close to home.

  23. It's just something that I have to do ... lol. For me, I guess I won't be satisfied until they are all going into the same hole. It's a sickness. It's all about finding the absolute limits of the gun, the bullet, and myself. If I had enough money (And a place to do it), I would probably be one of these long distance shooter guys too. Man, that would be fun. But anyway there is always the fun of trying to achieve perfection.

  24. Yeehaw! Got the 12 gauge! What a world of temptation I live in. Took my shottie (haven't given her a name yet) out of the box and in the next hour or so, I saw a few squirrels running around in the back yard, one in particular which I feel was trying to commit suicide by eager gun owner as he kept roaming around easily within range. Unfortunately, I have neighbors on nearly every side of me and despite multiple attempts of the little devil on my shoulder telling me I could get one shot off without arousing enough neighborly concern to call the police, I restrained myself and resorted to swearing an oath to the little squirrel that I would find his friends and family on another day when the law was on my side. I'm happy to see all the enthusiastic fly-fishers on the site. I have heard/read a lot about the great lake tribs, especially the Salmon river. From what I can tell about the Salmon, it seems to be more of the "combat" fly-fishing flavor. I understand the payout is huge pigs, however I have always tried to avoid these types of fishing scenarios. Most of the fishing I have done in the west was on fairly remote rivers, lakes and streams that required some effort to access and thus was rare to see other fisherman outside my party. I do recall one occasion where I was caught in the middle of a combat fishing scenario. It was on a lake that for 2 weeks of the year-fished amazingly and you could easily catch your fair share of 6-10 lbs Lahontan cutts. Despite it being a fairly large lake, all the fish congregated in one end of the lake and thus so did the fisherman. Despite being the first people on the lake that morning, several hours later I found my brother and myself had eventually been surrounded by about 12 other pontoons in a perfect circle and everyone casting into the center of the ring of about 30 ft diameter of water. We were having a little success prior and all the sudden, everyone feels that they should be casting right where we were since we had already caught a few fish. Lines starting getting tangled, people started moving closer to us and interfering with our casts. Just not my style of fishing. However, I would be remiss not to dip my line in the Salmon at least once. Anyone ever fish it with a 5wt rod?

  27. I was figuring it was a disgruntled wife getting back @ her husband for hunting too much!! Don't quote me but, the posts you've already made will probably still be visible. I'd say, if it conflicts with your newly founded views then just don't log in or be a part of the site. If it's due to security or confidentiality reasons it's probably too late. After all it is a public forum. The views generated by some folks don't speak for the rest of us. Just sayin'

  29. Want to save lives? Let's start at the top of the list and work down - have a far greater impact in total numbers rather than going for "if it will save one life". Might want to work on banning baseball bats too - at least if you apply the logic of some to the statistics.

  38. The second amendment isn't about hunting or target shooting, it's about empowering the people to be able to defend themselves and hold back a government that is trying to oppress them. On that basis, civilians should be able to have any arms that the government has. That's the way it was when the decision was enacted, that's how it should be now. You can't stop an army armed with m16's, if all you have is a single shot.

  39. I admire your attitude. I thought I had a disappointing hunting season this year, (0 Deer) didn't even get a shot off, but after reading your post, it makes me realize it wasn't so bad after all. I really enjoy just being in the woods. Thank God for the squirrles, they can really be entertaining.

  41. There was a bit of confusion at the Dicks Sporting goods store this morning. When I was ready to pay for my purchases of gun powder and bullets the cashier said, "Strip down, facing me." Making a mental note to complain to Harper about the gun registry people running amok. I did just as she had instructed. When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, I found out that she was referring to my credit card. I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future. They need to make their instructions to us seniors a little clearer !

  42. "So people are acting pretty set on gun control, but all their ideas are things that do nothing but pester law abiding gun owners. ... So idea: Let's just pretend to pass gun control. The people who most want it won't know the difference between an actual law being passed and absolutely nothing being done, so can't we just say we passed a bunch of laws and pretend everyone is safer? We'll call it the 'Super Deadly Gun Ban Act' and it will ban fully-automatic bolt action shotguns and armor piercing hollow points and any magically enchanted guns. And then all the dumb people will cheer, 'We is safer!' So it's the same result as an 'assault weapon' ban, but no enforcement costs and no petty intrusions on liberty. If people want useless things done to make us all feel safer, can't we all just play along?" --humorist Frank J. Fleming Gun Laws and bans don't work. Attack guns and you make things a lot more dangerous. Look at Australia for Gods sake. Educate yourselves on what has alraedy happened in places where this stupidity has been enforced. I do not have the time, nor the space here to give you all the flaws in the logic of gun bans. I implore you folks to do you reasearch somewhere other than these forums and get the truth. Joinining the NRA and reading the American Rifleman would be a good place to start. And don't start with the NRA bashng here. That organization is the only hope gun owners in America have at this point.

  46. You move to NY and hang up the flyrods??????????? I question your sanity at this point. LOL Its flyfishing time on the tribs for steelhead one of the best times of the year for a flyfisherman in NY. Spent last 3 days on the Salmon River throwing flies for chromers. Its one of the best things about NY a very diverse sportsmans paradise, lots of land, lots of water, lots of fun to be had. Welcome to the land of high taxes and some of the best hunting and fishing in the US.
