I am panicking about all the men who are trying to be women. scares the hell out of me

At your age I get it... I lived it... thought it all seemed important then too... then my son got leukemia at 14... we nearly lost him to a pneumonia caused by a MRSA infection during his treatment... other parents we got to know weren't so lucky with their children... believe me... there is nothing that has to do with your work that you can't handle during work hours... for all you young guys that are burning the candle at both ends... stop and take some time to think about what is really important in this life... it isn't money, It isn't that big promotion at work, it isn't the acceptance of other people, it isn't who has the biggest or most stuff... slow down and enjoy the things and people you love... you really don't have much time to enjoy those things... I was 30 yesterday, I blinked... and now I'm 55... and now I never go anywhere or do anything without stopping somewhere along the way to smell the roses. I've learned that I have never had a bad day in my life... some are just not as good as others... when I thought I was having a bad day... I would think about those parents that lost their young child and realized my day wasn't really that bad at all.

My favorite recipe is to stuff a tenderloin with crumbly blue cheese, chopped red onion, and spinach leaves. Coat with Buck's seasoning and bake.

That should cover everyone.... I will be very busy so wanted to tell eveyone at NYhunting to have a Happy healthy and love filled holiday season with family and friends. Got the age results back recently from the DEC and she turned out to be 2.75 years old.

To me, every deer is a precious gift from God. I can think of no finer food than whitetail venison, and how awesome it was to be able to pursue it this season on some of the most beautiful land I have ever scene, or even after a short walk out my own back door. The Dr's told me this spring that I should have never saw 50, but Lord willing, I'll make that on Thursday. Right now, the only worry I have is to keep things right with someone else who was born on that day about 2014 years ago. Merry Christmas everyone and happy hunting however or why-ever you do it.

Got the year right this time around...

We have just had a litter of German Short Haired Pointer puppies all with beautiful breed standard markings (liver patches with white background and ticked roaning). We are the owners of the Dam and the Sire is from Rhinebeck NY. This litter has been bred for upland bird hunting with the dam coming from the bird dog Kennels at the Catskill Pheasantry in Long Eddy NY and the Sire from a local bird dog breeder. The litter is registered with the AKC as well as the dam and the sire. We have pedigree on both parents going back seven generations. Molly the dam has grown up side by side with our 3 year old daughter and we can say that this breeds temperament with children is second to none. What a good family dog. Of course we would like these puppies to go to homes that plan on hunting them but an active family looking for the perfect companion would be our next best choice. The puppies are now 5 weeks old and will be ready to go to their future homes in another 3-5 weeks. We currently have 4 males and 3 females available and we are asking $1,000 for the puppies. practice with a regular bow and long shorts aren't hard especially at a non moving target .My good friend got a buck this year at 70 in an open field with a pse x force dream season bow( I know how far it was as I was with him on the recovery). he practices that shot every night from his back door to a block target at the edge of the woods. nearly cut the deers heart in half. but as he said not possible in a woods.

Get her a really naughty looking outfit to spice things up. She gets to feel sexy in it and you get to show her how sexy she looks in it. Pair that up a weekend retreat for just the two of you. Dose she have a really good sense of humor - crimes against humanity game.

I think it's easier in an open prarie than it is out of a treestand. I say "think" because I have no clue. But I imagine those guys practice at that range. Not a whole lot of hardwoods giving good bow shots at that range.

This is a common misconception. This exists because there are mismatched expectations. People expect to have few to no problems for trail cams. Not possible. Understand something - if you are buying commerically made cameras, you are going to have failures of some sort. Most all cams do not have coated internals. These cams sit outside in fluctuating temps, humidity, precipitation, sun and heat, etc. One of the key characteristics is dealing with a company that will at least honor a warranty and hear you out when something goes wrong to work toward a solution. It doesn't matter if it is Bushnell, Covert, Reconyx...they all have problems. Heck, Reconynx is selling their new model that was in development for YEARS, and it's got several problems/bugs that need to be worked out. For a $600 cam, too. If you get two reliable years out of a cam below say the Reconyx line, you've got your money's worth and any added service over that is gravy. I'm really a big advocate on no security. Why? Because when someone wants it, all you do is lose more money spent on lock boxes or cables or locks. Have I had cams stolen, yes. Some with and some without locks. Mount your cams up higher to get out of line of sight using screw-in or ratchet mounts...that's really the cheapest and best defense for most people.

If you shoot livestock you are in trouble in nys,I guess known deer ft om z farm don't apply. What if that ear tag was tore out and the hunter had no idea until it Showed up and it was killed and tried to enter in the books... seems likerecord books are going to be tainted when the wild game being persued is raised as livestock as well.

Maybe this will be a lesson to the other deer not to escape during hunting season.

I've seen deer jump 6' fences without effort. They go where the food is, fence or no fence. The hunting range would need a 15' fence to keep deer inside.

One way that I use to get very deep onto state land before others is to ask a landowner with land adjacent for access, like a farmer. I asked a farmer for permission to park on the road and cut across his pasture to get back to a nice piece of state land and the guy was ecstatic that I would hunt deer. He literally had no huntable land during hunting season since he harvested everything and gladly let me get the jump on all the guys on state land.

I appreciate that you let us know about the 22's. I just don't shop at Dicks because they did not have TRAP loads when they advertised them during the fall. If I found 22's in another store I probably would have bought a bucket or two to add to the ones I bought in Maine last year. I have shot Remington's in my autoloader for years and did not have any problems.

You guys are a bunch of thankless SOB's. JHC, I'm pointing out .22 ammo that has been damn near impossible to find and all you do is dig it down? They had probably 50 buckets sitting there THEN. Those other 2 bucks were shot, caped and scored for the record books. Taken in ohio,bucks that size, they will not raise a red flag and B&C will be none the wiser so yes i would dare say there are a few farm raised bucks that adorn their glossy pages, even though they say they will not accept them. Deer behind fence are livestock. I believe the price was stretched a bit but my bucks that size only fetch 10-12 grand tops. The kid had every right to kill that buck but the smart move would have been to let that boy breed to the heavens. Had he not wanted the thrill of taking a buck that big he very well could have made himself a few grand real easy but i guess the kill was better or the thought of getting it back to the owners never entered his mind. There must have been enough does in that area to keep him around to get trail cam pics.

Please do not take the title out of context. There is a point to be made but it's not my goal. I wanted to share my story with you all as I'm sure some will enjoy it. It's just kind of funny this happened really concerning all the talk lately of legal shooting hours. In Mississippi legal shooting hours are 1/2 hour before and 1/2 hour after. There is also a 10" inside spread or 13" main beam. The rut is in full swing down here so I snuck out of work Friday afternoon for a sit in a ground blind (it was drizzling) on some public land near me. I harvested a doe near the spot I chose just a few weekends prior. I have been seeing great sign in this area, fresh rubs and scrapes and passed a new one on the way in. I get in and set up by 2:30. It was one of those days where you're feeling good to be in the woods but I didn't see a thing all sit. I'm sitting up on a nob overlooking a deep shallow creek which provided a small window between 2 thick bedding areas where I had found some great sign. It's a hard to reach area as it's a pretty steep climb down and up. Sunset is ~4:50 and the light is getting thin around 5:05. I'm hunting with my muzzleloader instead of my shotgun as I do not yet have a rifle. I look through my nikon 3x9 and still have good light. I'm shooting at a downward angle and decide to give it 5 more minutes. Truthfully any later, while legal would have been iffy. Had I been in a field I'm sure it would have been fine. At 5:10 a see a deer come running down the hill and paused broadside at about 50 yards behind a tree. I bump the power to 4 and cock the hammer on my CVA Optima. I am not going to shoot a doe. It's dark, wet and a hell of a drag. He steps out. He's a shooter. Bang. The buck runs 20 yards down into the steep shallow creek (oh crap), up the other side (thank God) and then flops once and dies. I sit another 5 minutes and go and check him out and was very happy with my decision. Not a perfect shot and didn't get much meat out of both shoulders but double lung just the same. The drag out with my cart may have been one of the hardest things I've ever done. Into the creek and up the otherside pushing him up with my shoulders. Inching up the ravine grabbing onto trees to prevent myself from slipping and from him sliding back down. 2 hours later he was out. I was sore but thankful. Cut him up Saturday and did the grind Sunday. He's going to be a European. 15" inside spread and a wopping 110lbs dressed haha. I'm calling him a 9 as the broken brow tine passes the keychain test for me.

Been following this for a long time. That pretty much sums it up.

I'm not big on fancy clothes and shoes. Don't care much about my appearance either. I have a nice Tag watch and Raybans and that's about as deep as it goes. Just feels good to get a facial, massage, pedicure... Scientifically proven to be beneficial for stress. Never had a manicure. ditto. I have 2 very different appearances. M-F driving a nice car in nice clothes and clean shaven. On the weekends I'm in camo, or dirty jeans doing chores or working on my car in a beater truck. You should never judge a book by it's cover. Many people down south heard I was from NY and instantly judged me. Not a clue that I can hunt, fish and turn a wrench. On the flip side, seeing me walk into home depot sometime you might think I live in a trailer. I heard a quote the other day. "the best hobbies are those that take you furthest away from your work". I think that's what I love so much about the outdoors. lets just clear it up a little. In the past 10 years I've had 2 pedicures, 1 facial and 4 massages. So lets just be clear about "guys who get pedicures". It's a once in a while thing with the wife. Usually we drink wine during and after and I get rewarded. You know... the reward married guys stop getting when they put a ring on it?

I got the Mermaid an inflatable Tom Selleck Doll...She moved Tom upstairs and I get the recliner....Win/Win... I told her I'd like to have her go to Cox's and buy me a seersucker suit... She went to Sears....

This thread is so entertaining. I equate the NYC people who hunt to the hipster movement...you know the beard, moustache, with tight jeans, flannel, boots. Look the part, and might even want to be, but even if they are, are really outsiders looking in on a great party. Different strokes, for sure, and I understand that. There's just a line that needs to be held. I suit up several times a week and my employer could easily be located in NYC. But, everyone also knows I kill things and eat them. I might look stylish, but they also know I am a man.

I off & on frequent a lot of different interest communities. R/C aircraft, XC sking, cars, trucks, Norton motorcycles, even mountain bikes. It's a toss-up between between hunting/firearms related forums & mountain bike forums as far as which community has more fly off the handle before reading & fully comprehending posts types. I think hunting/firearms is taking the lead though.

I don't know if that one counts Wooly.. Kind of like referring to the mother of your children a milf.. Lol
