  3. I do not think it possible to change the mind of a confirmed liberal, leftist, or Progressive, no matter the amount of factual, historical, or logical information presented. Once they have adopted what they are told to think, they are closed minded and hostile to any other opinion. It's quite like a herd mentality.

  4. If one uses a bullet like a Barnes TSX in the .22-250, it will expand fully and penetrate through the vitals. It may also exit the other side of the deer. It's solid copper with cuts to make it expand like an X. They perform very well on deer and equal the penetration of heavier lead bullets. Because a Barnes is all copper, it's lighter than a lead bullet, but it is longer than a lead bullet of equal weight. That's why a faster twist in the barrel is needed to stabilize it. The length of the bullet is the factor that requires a fast twist, not just the weight. These solid copper bullets have a higher BC (ballistic coefficient) than a shorter lead bullet of equal weight. Therefore the fly flatter (drop less) and make longer shots easier. They do produce the same energy as a lead bullet of equal weight when traveling at the same speed, but do have less energy than a lead bullet of equal length that weighs more moving at the same speed. It would be wise to study all the ballistics you can find for Barnes bullets from 53 gr on up, as well as other lead bullets of good deer hunting construction, like the Nosler Partition, and see which one offers the most favorable ballistics. When using a minimum caliber for deer, you need to put maximum research into the decision, prior to shooting a deer with it. Finding out a choice was a mistake after shooting a deer is not a good way to go.

  6. Give us an example of your "HATERS"……..Who has said "I hate hipsters".."I hate gay people"….."All gay people are criminals"…….. You are making stupid assumptions about people who dare to have a differing opinion from yours. Your post is a picture perfect example of the intolerant left and their mindless, knee jerk response to anyone who does not "conform" to their thinking…..This is the part where you call me a racist, homophobe , bigot, anti woman, anti man, anti bunny, anti immigrant, anti…fill in the blank,,,,, because you are an angry little intolerant, brainwashed Racist tool.

  7. If you are dead set on using that rifle for deer, then do so. Just make sure you hit the range and dial in for yardage. Knowing where it will be at certain ranges will be imperative. You want to make sure you are hitting the heart and not just the lungs with that caliber. It will be so fast the deer might run a long way before it dies. If you can I would suggest going up to a 7mm/08, .243, or .308. Maybe even a 30/30. All still low recoil, but more kinetic energy.

  8. Don't need to go to Detroit. How about right here on the east side of Buffalo? We will be glad to put the work in to setup and coordinate a slavery / racism / history debate. Live audience, Q & A, filmed. Can you get your request for the collection to be pinned on the forum? Around $300 for a good room and couple hundred more for a little advertising. I'll be glad to host. We will hold it on a weekday evening. We just held a great event Sunday before with national civil rights activist Adam Kokesh. We can set this up no problem. Learning sounds better than censorship, doesn't it?

  11. can somebody explain to me why people are even using the confederate flag as their avatar? To try to be provocative, to get attention- same reason for the titles of most of their threads.

  13. can somebody explain to me why people are even using the confederate flag as their avatar? or supporting it all of a sudden in public? i mean, the flag represents the south (which we aren't from, I'm guessing) and the confederacy LOST the war. what personal attachment does anyone even have to it? Im going to guess that the majority of us are new immigrants to this country within the last century, who immigrated most likely a northern city. so what is the attachment to the flag? just curious.

  14. A small miss with an adequate deer round is also quite likely to produce a lost deer. Bullet placement is critical. But excellent bullet placement doesn't mean a thing if the bullet doesn't penetrate that spot.

  15. to me this topic is the same as broadhead selection. You can kill a deer with a field point but increase your odds with a good broadhead. You can kill a deer smelling like a goat, but increase your odds smelling like nothing. You increase your odds of a good kill with a .270 and greater... than why not? i wont tell you what to do, but please make sure you're confident in your abilities, a small miss could be bad for both you and the deer.

  17. Why does it matter if the person is non-white? Don't you think whites could find it inappropriate? Or is your white guilt / Self-perceived white privilege blinding you? Folks have the right to display what they want or allow the displaying of what they want on their site. Others don’t have to like it, but we should accept it as their right.

  18. As a member of Deer Search, I can tell you that I have had more than a few calls to find deer shot with a 22-250 and 243s. Most were not recovered. Now I'm not saying that they won't kill deer. You just have a smaller margin for error on shot placement, and usually a very light blood trail. That being said, with the right bullet and knowing the the rifles capabilities as well as your own, have at it. To each their own.

  19. From what I hear, the trooper used a hand gun,on a running target. And got two hits with two shots. Nice shooting! But I wish the shot placement was just a bit better.

  20. You're in for some butt hurt now threeksnaj. You just offended like 90% of the people that use elephant loads on deer. On another note, if you're really accurate with that 53gr round, you can attempt for a.... Headshot! There, I said it! X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems

  21. Absolutely nothing wrong with a .22 caliber bullet for deer hunting IF you use a decent bullet and pick your shots properly. (AND EVERYTHING RIGHT THERE GOES FOR ANY CALIBER OR CHAMBERING) you will be fine. Lots can be learned by digging in to all the good information on the web. Lots of people on here (yes, including me) haven't used a .22 caliber CF rifle to kill a deer but plenty outside of NYS have. I'd do it in a heart beat if I wanted to. Heck, my .243 with 80gr slugs isn't much different. Read some here and let Google be your friend http://www.rifleshootermag.com/ammo/ammunition_centerfire_22_biggame/ http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/4784790/all/Best_Non_Premium_22_Deer_Bulle

  23. You can kill a deer with a .22 short, if you hit it right. Why not try that circus trick this fall?

  24. No sweat with the proper bullet. Plenty of deer are killed each year with a .223 and .22-250, have at it.

  26. Hhhmmm my sister is a lesbian and she and her partner raised 3 kids and have been together for 30 years...own a home have careers...a time share and grand kids now. Why shouldn't they have the same legal obligations Mr B and I have had to have for the last 36 yrs? When it came to getting college money why shouldn't they have had to combine incomes...when it came to any type of income based funds such as a sonny may mortgage...why shouldn't combined incomes be asked for?

  28. I agree. Race has no relevancy to hunting, fishing, or trapping. And neither does that damned flag. We have no requirement or interest in anyone's ethnicity. What the hell kind of dumb question was that anyway?

  29. I am just getting a batch of Southern Cross flags in. 3' x 3', actual size, not the 3' x 5'. Have to support the secessionists. Guess slavery will be a hot topic for a while. There is a good debate in that.

  30. My suggestion would be that we start a collection here and send these confederate flag wavers on a small vacation to Detroit. We would see how bold they would be waving that flag over there. LOL

  32. Very well aware of the left. Very much disgusted by extreme lefts as much as I am by the extreme right. However, I don't feel the need to regurgitate everything i read online to a bunch of hunters who prefer to talk about hunting, fishing, camping and occasionally some political stuff. Last I checked most of us hunt to get away from it all. It's just enough man. You're not swaying anyone's beliefs on this website. It's to the point where I'm sure not alone when I say I get less and less likely to open up this site with the abundance of political posts. We've been around and around this. You can't just "look past it". I know 90% of us use our news feed. This morning I see nothing but confederate flags on the feed of a NEW YORK website. In the Mississippi hunting forums (check out our state flag). 1 thread! 1! How hard is that?

  33. I firmly believe the past use of varmint bullets in the .22-250 while deer hunting, is the main reason many people think it cannot effectively kill deer.

  35. The issue is since the shooter had a battle flag in his bedroom or apartment , the wolfs are all now crying for it to be banned from anything and everywhere... oh is racist .... if fact the the flag was a BATTLE FLAG so the north and south could tell each other apart during the war. Blacks and Whites died under that flag because they didn't want to join the Union States. Since the wolfs are crying Racism , everyone else is plastering it up all over the place in response to there ignorance.

  36. The class was something I had to sit through in college due to being in biology. It has proved useful though, basically I was able to take the data that Colorado DEC releases and crunch the numbers to come up with the units that have the highest fill rate on OTC licenses. Still nowhere near some of the draw hunts, but no preference points required for the OTC ones. Still going to apply for the draw ones to start building permits, but I figure it will be a few years until I draw a good one and until then I'll just start to build experience. I figure if our group of 2-3 drives out there, buys tags, and camps out fairly cheaply we should be able to keep total costs under $1000 per person from when we leave to when we get back.

  38. Some people in here really are ass holes ( I can be one myself, but I am NOT a looser hater!!!!!! ) I have never seen more hate on any other hunting site. "I hate hipsters!", "I hate gay people!", "All gay people are criminals!". Etc, etc......... If you feel this strongly about this, then you must really hate the fact that what you consider a minority hunt and own firearms. It must really piss you off that the Native Americans on their land can own things like full auto legally. That must really put twist in your bikini bottom! America is soft because of hate on our own soil. Keep hating gay people, keep hating black people, keep hating women, keep hating everything. People talk about fascism? This is a PRIME EXAMPLE! EDIT! If you are so damn unhappy living in the USA or NY, leave! You won't be missed!

  39. I think everyone is getting caught up in "Who cares if gays get married?" I for one couldn't care less…. Go for it….The bigger picture is unelected lawyers just making up liberties that are not in the constitution. Where does that stop?? Again ….Bob wants to marry Jim…Sue wants to marry Gale???? Who gives a crap??

  45. Blaser.....wacked a few crows with it too when calling. Has adjustable open sights and the smooth bore does VERY well with Brenneke slugs.....I'd have no issue shooting a deer with one if legal in NY.Set up to mount optics as well and used a red dot for slug testing. Couple hunts I have done you can shoot birds if you fill tags and for the table, and 2 Allens screws and a bolthead swap make a quick changeover. Box or two of shells doesn't weight much for ammo allowance when flying. Shotgun conversion of Mauser 98's are around, I've seen mostly 12 ga for sale on places like gun broker. Back a few years I handled two surplus 98's in 410 and 28ga in a gun shop in Barcelona and looked into importing one; but the costs started adding up and squashed the idea. They are highly modified and I just wanted one for a novelty; they were dirt cheap and they were fairly trim from the ones I have seen. Sure wouldn't trust any high brass turkey loads in one. LOL
