I gave some soft yelps and clucks at around 630. A short time later a nice tom and a hen came scratching along, probably 70 yards or so. I don't think I called them, I think they just happened to be on a certain route. I believe they are the same pair I saw a few days ago, in the same area. They slowly made their way out into the fields, ignoring my calls, then slowly moved out of sight. it was cool to watch them for a while. No gobbling at all this morning. I did find this 140 class shed while I was poking around. I hope to find the other so I have a set of killer rattling horns this fall... LOL!!!5 points

Doewhacker and I just had 2 long beards come in with 4 jakes and 2 hens. They put on one hell of a show. Fighting, gobbling, strutting, drumming and hissing all the way in to the point where we misjudged the distance and spit dust on them. Been sitting here waiting for them to get out of the field so we can leave and come back later and try again. Maybe we should have brought our jesus bullets with us instead of these turkey loads. Next time...5 points

Tagged out yesterday on a Jake at 6:15. Was set up where I wanted to be by 4:40 and again no gobbling heard at all. Then, he came in quietly to a combination of some yelps, cuts, and clucking. No gobbling to alert me that he was coming but everything was so dry I heard him approaching from the crunchy leaves until I saw his bright red head bobbing around looking for the hen he was hearing. Came into about 35 yards before he presented a good shot. Been a quiet season as far as gobbling activity but I ended up tagging out for the season after a two year slump. Good luck to all still out there!4 points

It was a heck of a weekend, we were on birds both days and saw more when we went back out today for round two. Lots of gobbling today all day and yesterday morning early. I think WNY is officially hooked on Turkey hunting. I'm done for the year with temps set to hit the 80's this week. I worked 18 birds this year, my son had a fantastic youth hunt and season with me and this weekend capped it all off. Till next year!3 points

Hey, thanks Larry and everyone....55 and alive is all I can ask for!! I was invited over to friends house earlier in the day, and they had a surprise cook out for me and a few other friends showed up too and I had a great day. Cool present from buddy was a fishing retrieving magnet...he said since I never catch any real fish when we go, try fishing with this!! You toss it out in water tied to rope and pull it in and you never know what you will catch!! Sounds pretty cool to me! Saw my family yesterday and my sisters are the greatest! Thanks again everyone!3 points

Kudos to the NRA for their early endorsement of Donald Trump for President. Join the NRA and show your support of gun owner's rights and the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.2 points

Went for a quick walk today as I happened to be at the farm. I think this one was remodeling the way he was mounding up the dirt. Filled back in. Hard to keep nice hay fields around here.2 points

The NRA stated in their endorsement of Trump why Hillary would be a terrible President and are simply encouraging all NRA members to vote for Trump as a vote against Hillary. Not voting at all, or voting for a third party candidate, could actually help Hillary win. That's why all gun owners should vote for Trump, even if it hurts to do so.2 points

Cant make it out in the A.M. but I am free and clear Tue, Wed, and Thur. I have hunted at least a dozen times this spring and I have had close action every time. Passed up Jakes and have seen several good Toms, that I just couldn't shoot, for one reason or another. I have NEVER had a season like this!! If I don't score I can't B!t@H!!..But I have some revised plans in mind……. LOL!!!1 point

Been writing since high school. Even went to college to teach literature (even though I still talk like a hillbilly) but dropped out because my mind is useless when contemplating numbers. But I've finally can mark getting published off the bucket list! I wrote a piece for American Digger Magazine. Also have a new video up. Walked two miles of creek in search of yet another major civil war crossing. Found some interesting things. Then on to a home site that was captured by union forces in 1863. Oh yeah, and two owls. All videos are better will owls. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk1 point

OK I have to say Whoa to this....I'd say it to a few other things as well, but what's the point...Any who, I won't assume to speak for any other woman on this site. Though there as only been one woman I have noticed "bashed" and that would be me. Now I know why it happens and will continue at some point to happen again. It has little to do with my gender. Mostly personality and a lot to do with ....this is me being polite ,as it were, "other issue." Those I have no control over.1 point

"Green Energy" windmills are a far greater threat to raptors than lead bullets IMHO. I find it amazing the federal government will give these wind farms permits to "accidentally" kill a certain number of Bald Eagles every year. They also give permits to kill lots of other endangered raptors. People concerned about lead bullets should be equally, if not more concerned, about windmills.1 point

Soil fertility is as key as genetics.... We have the potential for much better deer then we number now almost entirely due to gun Hunter (and the lack of DEC) decision making prioritizing the age of the herd and harvest(s) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point

Yes the frost we had and snow wasn't good. Never as bad as the valley areas on trees I think. Though if the bees weren't out to pollinate due to the cold fruit won't be there. My pears show that big time in cold springs.I'm lucky though nee neighbor4 places down has 4 active hives going. Many more honey bees over the bumble bees this year. I love the smells of spring...1 point

He goes off on those kind of far fetched outdated thoughts of his at times... Yet he is fine feeding raptors untested whitetails so they can go and spread disease all over the countryside if they happen to pick a positive! That must be good conservation practices!1 point

I just heard Hillary on the national news talking about gun laws. I would put Trump "light years" better than her, and the leadership of the NRA is well aware of this, This is the reason for their very early endorsement of Trump.1 point

Example of the dictator club #2: "Our Founding Fathers built a system of government for the specific purpose of protecting us from the kind of people that are running this country right now. But those people have twisted and ignored the Constitution, more every year, until they're finally at the point they can start pushing to change or replace it. The Founding Fathers knew that tyranny is an incessantly aggressive beast and that only strict adherence to the Constitution would keep it at bay. And our only hope of stopping the encroachment of totalitarianism is to get people in government who will REALLY abide by the Constitution - not just study it for the purpose of learning how to get around it." Caroline Crawley1 point

As opposed to the club that believes in dictating their policies to everyone else, regardless of the consequences. Example #1: "[E]ven if the existence of global warming is 'settled,' the policies for how to best respond to it are not. But in the political debates about climate change, activists say that their climatological claims are irrefutable and so are their preferred remedies. If climate change is the threat they claim, I'd rather spend billions on geoengineering to fix it than trillions on impoverishing economic policies that at best slightly delay it." —Jonah Goldberg1 point

Sea robins are actually kind of pretty in a grotesque way. I never tried to eat one. Some of those sculpin type fish are pretty ugly. Last September fishing near Wilmington, NC I caught a big sculpin that my host called a " mother-in-law" fish.. He calls 'em that because they have a big mouth and are ugly as hell !1 point
