Shot these at a local fishing pond on state forest land last night. This site is very remote and offers the darkest skies within a short drive of my house. At about 11:45, shortly before I packed up a truck showed up which at first I assumed was an ECO or maybe a state trooper out doing a night patrol. Turned out it was a younger couple, probably college age, guess they had plans to do some "star gazing" as well... yeah, I'm sure that was it. Fireflies were out. Doing some star gazing. Welcome to the Internet Mike. Pretty arrogant of you to come into the site suggestions thread and proclaim that you wont donate to the site where you thump your cause day in and day out, and then tell the site owner that they should appreciate your "information and content". JMO4 points

Seems cameras are all the rage. I believe it can hurt you if done unproperly as it seems most do. Long range locating w binos is safer and cameras only tell you what's in their sight. Limits your odds imo3 points

First solo trip on the river today. Between locks 9 and 10. One of my favorite stretches . Saw a mink up close but he scooted before I could get a pic. The launching and landing of the bassboat can be a pain by myself. But it went pretty good today. Oh yeah.....caught six smallmouth. The biggest about three and a half pounds.3 points

Perhaps if Mike Rossi got his head out of his azz and actually READ some of my posts. He would see that in no way, am I an anti hunter. But Mr, Rossi's biggest problem is that he is so absorbed in his own fantasy world and himself. That he has no idea what a REAL HUNTER is!3 points

That would be a contact form. Each tab gives the site owner a slightly different message so that they know what the member is contacting them about. There is nothing on this site keeping anything toward the top unless we pin it. There is no conspiracy going on here, the newest posts stay at the top. Ran their email addresses? Through what exactly? If you are having issues with users that are supposedly from other countries, etc, then why wouldnt you bring it to our attention and we can look into it? Honestly, you seem to have trouble figuring out basic functions of the forum, I find it hard to believe that you know how to track down the source of an email. Listen, if you dont like the site, then stop coming here. If you dont want to donate, then fine, but theres no reason for you to make a big announcement about it.3 points

I do believe in global warming. It has happened may time before so to say it isn't happening is not realistic. I do not, however, believe it is US that is the major cause. When you can have one volcanic eruption and estimates show more greenhouse gas place in the atmosphere than every car since cars were invented, I think we are placing too much importance on humans.3 points

Yesterday...I shop at Tops and save those gas points as long as I can... Well I got some coupons and double points (also double for gander buying gas) with monopoly points as well...get to pumps and swipe my card...Gas price came up 75.999 cents per gallon...lol I hit the shut off mark but a little at a time squeezed enough out of that nozzle to get me up to 10.00 to fill the tank...I drove in on pretty much fumes...lol I believe I can say that will probably never happen again in my life time....Mr B is going to frame the dated receipt...hahahahaha2 points

I know its not the best time of year to be planting trees.. but I planted 2 white oak trees this pass Sunday in memory of my father and his best friend who were killed in a car accident back in March. When i bought these from Nativ Nurseries, I figured why not buy a few more and plant them around the property, for the price its not a big hit if failed. ill keep them watered and fertilized as best possible. and if they take awesome, if not i will plant them come fall, or early spring. I planted with the plan of watering them every couple of days.. i bought 10 White oak, and 10 Deer pear trees. Planted half of each of them at the bottom of a food plot, which normally stays moist all year even in a drought and the other half on the west side of a new small staging area food plot i started the week before his accident.. Worse case ill plant when the timing is right.. not a big deal.. thought it would be worth a shot, and an accomplishment if they all take off and thrive.. the one pic is a second staging plot between bed and food.. freshly planted in clover(june 5th)2 points

Started the weekend out from the observation stand, I kept seeing this hawk in the distance snatching up snakes from the clover. I forgot about him after a while until he fell out of the sky like a bowling ball right in front of me! His meal slithered away once he layed eyes on me. With the hot weather I thought I'd go see what's swimming around in the crick yesterday. Found that same momma wood duck that got blasted by the hawk a couple weeks ago, but she's down to 3 ducklings now. I'm glad she survived the attack but I sure would have liked to see the hawk eat her! A little further along I found this beaver gnawing on some branches that got washed downstream from the latest storm. I didn't try... but he was so oblivious to me being there that I think I could have scooped him up with my hands, lol At one point he walked right past me about 4 feet away. He finally figured out he was being followed and cooled me off with a flick of his tail before cutting under the creek bank. On my way out I spotted another nose poke out of the water. I'd finally found what I keep coming back here for. My first mud dragon of the year! Hope everyone had as much fun as I had this weekend!2 points

actually didn't read the article yet despite I should've. one of the big things contributing to a downward deer population trend in the US is people thinking they're practicing QDM still whack a ton of doe despite getting hit with things like EHD, instead of doing the right thing by backing off and factoring it in. takes multiple seasons for a population to come back from a situation like that.2 points

i use cameras and scout the way you mentioned at distance with binos. last season i got every buck known to be killed on the property and neighboring properties on camera. there were 5 of them i know of. 3 of them i passed up. buck i took with a bow i took two days/sits of scouting and having him do the same thing at about 400 yards out. went in mid day on my sit after that with a summit climber. arrowed him at what was probably 23 yards. it's usually not that easy but i scouted and went in with a plan knowing timing and wind were right. not just to not get busted but that also matched when he showed up and apparently felt safe. i'll take all the help i can get. cell cams i think are the ultimate tool. I'm just probably too cheap when it comes to cams to get and use one. i do admit though i could use and almost always accept all the help i can get.2 points

LOL. I don't think grampy is an anti! That's funny. Grampy probably hunts and fishes more than most of us.2 points

I don't really see the need to, I hunt the same parcels every year, I know where to put stands, the deer are always in the same areas. I don't put out cameras either, I'm not targeting any specific deer, I'll shoot the first legal one that walks by.2 points
-
Every buck I've killed in the past 5-6 seasons I have on camera - including a 6.5 year old according to deerage's tooth results. Just because I use cameras doesn't mean I don't scout. Many of the places cams are run are places where glassing isn't possible. I average between one and two days of scouting for every one day of hunting in a given year. This year has been the lowest for me by far.2 points

HAHA...If anyone should pay it should be him. Thump is putting it softly. Everyone has something to put forth and many of us have help the cause with our donations for years. This kinda crying because people dont see it the way he see's everything is a joke, You would think one would see when you have a pile full of people that do not agree with you there may be a reason.2 points

You guys will continue to believe whatever you want. But, if I recall correctly, a scientific review of over 4,000 studies on the subject has concluded that there is 97% consensus that human activity impacts climate change. But hey, I'm sure you guys know better. Science is for nerds anyway, right?2 points

Ha, Dont flatter yourself. Nobody is following you on this site or any other site. I have no problem saying how stupid it is the even think about having a Songbird season in Ny on this site or any others! You cant handle people disagreeing with your thoughts then you may want to keep your Songbird hunting season thought over on the Songbird hunting season site. Then you know most anybody that happens to look you up over there will at least agree with your thoughts.1 point

I get my pictures texted straight to my phone ,no more in and out of the hunting area. Thanks phade!1 point

Maybe you would donate because of the amount of support you have garnered for your cause through this site. Didnt you pretty much use this forum as a start to help launch your crusade? The site doesnt have to allow you to post all kinds of threads about your dove hunting stuff, or allow you to have a link to your outside site/Facebook at the bottom of every post. If you cant handle criticism, then maybe you should reconsider putting yourself out there where you are a target for it. Have I donated? Ive put more time and energy into helping out with this site than just about anyone. I did in fact donate right off the bat when the owner offered it up.1 point

I will walk a new piece of property in the summer time to figure out main runs, bedding areas and food sources. Once I have hunted it a while and know the property I don't feel the need to go in and scout year after year. Other than that I stay out and scout it as I hunt. Looking for rubs, scrapes, etc. I do use a camera occasionally.1 point

there is an agenda to disprove it. i believe you and papist are doing that on this thread as we type. except for the fact that the thousands of studies by scientists keep disproving it. you really believe that 97% of all scientific studies done on this specific topic are biased in one direction?1 point

Nice shots! I really like the series of the snapping turtle, I think the one of it under the water is my favorite, although the first two of it on shore are great too!1 point

Virgil, There is a huge agenda being pushed on global warming being caused by man. It started with Al Gore, the inventor of the Internet. The thousands of studies you mention may be part of that agenda and have some bias to them. The reason there may not be thousands of studies saying global warming isn't man made may be because there is not an agenda to disprove it. Maybe the smart scientist believe there are better things to spend money on.1 point

Details coming soon! As mourning doves expand northward Canadian Providences are instating hunting seasons. British Columbia has hunted doves for some time. Southern Ontario instated a season in 2014, and now Quebec. There is also a pending proposal in Manitoba and discussion elsewhere.1 point

I think it varies on where you live in the state. The only one thing is that everyone from LI and the NYC area considers everything else up-state. Here's my personal thought on it.1 point
