  1. So here is the process so far of building dad the best hunting shack for those cold /wet/windy/snowy days. Been talking about this for years and have finally broke the ice. Still have finishing touches left but excited to have a place for dad and the grandkids.

  2. Two police officers responding to a domestic disturbance with shots fired arrive on the scene. After discovering the wife had shot her husband for walking across her freshly mopped floor , they call their Sergeant on his cell phone. " Hello, Sarge " " Yes " " It looks like we have a homicide here " " What happened " ? " A woman has shot her husband for stepping on the floor she had just mopped " " Have you placed her under arrest " ? " No sir.......the floor is still wet "

  5. Fall is coming n so is the season. Most guys I'm sure are getting ready and shooting their bows. This morning I was getting ready to do a class while another couple was already shooting. First thing I noticed was the woman's arm guard. I told another instructor she had a bad grip. We watched Her grab her bow n she Gi Joe gripped it with her knuckles paralleling the bow. This causes the forearm to be very close or on the bow strings and is incorrect. Your knuckles should be at a 45 degree angle to the handle. To get there easily bend your pinky n ring finger in like making a knuckle. For a right handed shooter place those fingers on the left of bow handle gripping with the pointer n middle finger. The ring n pinky finger being to the side accomplish two things, one is angling your grip, the next is keeping the heel of your hand off the grip. Less hand on the bow less torque. Remember don't "choke" your bow. Hold it don't kill it. One last thing, your elbow for a righty needs to never to be pointing directly at the ground, roll your arm so the elbow is down n left. Be careful not to hyperextend your elbow or wrist that'll put em back in harms way. Hope that made sense n helps some beginning archers achieve better form. I believe I posted something similar before but we have new folks all the time

  10. You have to adhere to the setback rules for occupied structures. 500 feet for guns, 250 for crossbows and 150 for vertical bows. Your structures dont count, only ones that you dont own and/or have permission to shoot closer to.

  11. It's a proven scientific fact that the earh cools, and ice packs will extend from the poles. The the earth will warm and the ice packs will recede. Been happening for millions and millions of years here on planet earth. Nothing new to worry about!

  13. I wasn't having much luck with the traditional Oriole feeder with the orange mix . I would hardly ever see the Orioles . Saw a feeder a friend had and decided to make one . Bought an 88 cent plastic plate at Wally World . Drilled a hole in the middle . Cut a piece of broken rake handle about 7" long and drilled a small pilot hole in each end for screws . Attached the wooden piece to the plate with a screw and put a small screw hook on the other end . Attached 3 small plastic cups to the plate . Drilled several holes in the plate for water to run off . Put Grape Jelly in the small containers and hung it up on a post . The Orioles keep coming back but a robin goes for the jelly as well as a woodpecker and some starlings .

  15. I'm trying to 'make a difference'. We, as a nation, are being played. I'd like to see that stopped. Every bit of 'evidence' provided by the supporters of AGW is and has always been based on computer models, every one of which has been absolutely wrong for over thirty years. I don't consider that science. I have a friend who did much of the coding and programming for some of those computer models in the late 1980's and early 1990's, and he was at every turn told to make the model fit the expectation rather than the data. I don't consider that 'science' either. This thread is going to be in the "Politics and Religion" section before long, because that's exactly what it is, and where it belongs.

  16. First it must be proven it's the right thing to do. Then it must be proven the solution isn't worse than the problem. What good is leadership in the world if it's only taking us over the cliff to our own demise first? As an aside, the 97% of scientists figure is pure propaganda. In reality 97% of scientists paid to do studies only think we are experiencing climate change. They don't all agree it's man made and 3% don't even believe we are experiencing climate change at all. At one time 100% of scientists thought the earth was flat.

  17. Just a few thoughts on a holiday I'm not on the water..... We've done OK this year on Erie, Getting a bunch of walleye (no 2 man limits, but closer every time) just about every time out, but the places we expect to find fish this time of year doesn't seem to hold many. We've spent a lot more time moving around looking before we start fishing. Don't know the certain issue, (could be water level, temp, currents seem screwy this year, or something else) but the fish are out there. Just gotta go find them. And that doesn't mean go where the clump of boats are either. Bad fishermen are never alone We start with a mix of sticks and harnesses, different colors till something works, then switch to that and go get them. We catch most of ours all by ourselves, at least till someone sees the net out, then others show up, fish shut down, and we start over. Been doing well in 45-55 fow trolling watermelon harnesses at or near the bottom, 1.6 - 2.0 mph. Last week torpedo divers took most fish, the dipseys and slide divers hardly got hit. We find a school, hit them hard, and move when they disperse We catch bass often, by accident, and trolling a stick-bait seems the best way, if we tried on purpose. A week ago couldn't keep bass off a purple wish by bay rat. 35 down in 45 FOW, 1.8 mph I'd find some bottom structure, run a bunch of sticks, different colors till they tell me what they like today, then load up on those. So, use your electronics to find them, find what works, and when the bite stops, move - fishing 101 stuff, but we all make the mistake of staying put or sticking with what worked before when it isn't working today, Tight lines all, and Happy 4th of July! 18. I have no idea whether this global climate change or whatever is legit. I am not trained in that area of expertise just like no one else here likely is. All I know is that if you offer enough grant money, you will have no problem finding all kinds of scientists that will prove whatever agenda item that you have. Sometimes I think the more outrageous the findings that these researchers can concoct, the higher their grant money grows with the next year's funded study. It seems that no matter what the findings from the "experts", you will have another group of equally credible and qualified "experts" on the other side of the aisle with exactly opposing "guaranteed" findings. So are manmade climate changes a reality? Who the heck knows? Take your pick of what "experts" you have a need or desire to believe.

First thing I noticed was how quiet this bow is I mean quiet quiet what a difference not to mention how smooth the bow shoots it holds back nice doesn't want to jump forward at all overall I'm stoked can't wait to get some longer ranges dialed in to shoot some deer. 2016 matthews htx 28 draw 60 # dw Trophy Ridge single pin Qad drop away Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

  24. I was watching the news last night. Story after story of really bad $hit going on in the Democratic Party. •The ridiculous conclusion from the Democrats on the Benghazi select committee. • The unethical, inappropriate meeting between The attorney general and Bill Clinton. • Hillary Clinton ( too much to list) • This disaster in Baltimore. Where the District Attorney has done some very questionable things in an effort to put 6 cops in jail for the death of Freddy Gray • A complete denial of an all out jihad against America • a complete disregard for law in an effort to allow anyone and everyone to come into our country completely unchecked. • political correctness craziness. Just to mention a few. I can't imagine any real American Patriot supporting this parties platform.

  31. The real problem with this 'climate change' hysteria lies in the proposed solutions, all of which will lead to permanent destruction of the manufacturing base and a loss of sovereignty for the U.S.A. Every single bit of "good" that might be done by the U.S. will be negated by the growth activities of other countries, and all at the expense of our nation. It's unacceptable, except to the very few who will rule over, and profit from, the new "global" economy. I'm not buying into it.

  39. I'm in it for the fun as well and it isn't wrong at all. I do not eat much fish at all but do on occasion keep a few trout and perch to fry up, and everything else is released. Just remember some of those fish that are kept as a "food source" were most likely released by someone else prior so you could enjoy them. Funny little game life is, isnt it?

  44. I just take a short drive to Vermont. I'll call ahead to be sure they have what I want, or they will order it for me. And the prices are much better there than NYS. Was in Maine recently and their ammo prices are a full third less than NY! To the OP's question. In almost all cases I've found that ammo purchases had to be made face to face through a ffl, in NY. Screw Andy and his "Safe" Act. I'll buy my ammo somewhere else while I can!
