Thanks for the reassurance. Took him out this afternoon and it was amazing. Took him to a part of my uncles property full of acorns and made him find them so we can pick a spot. Lasted almost 90 mins and we actually saw a decent 6 pt. I couldn't believe it considering how much he was moving and that he was blowing on the grunt tube for about 30 mins straight lol Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk8 points

He had a coyote right under his stand and saw the two bucks i let walk , that’s a good morning . He’s a cop and the guys at work got him into hunting , so I figured I’d impart my vast knowledge and wisdom into him .7 points

Well sitting at 9200ft of elevation and i have a better signal than i have back in my house lol. So id thought id update yall. It is hot out here, not what we want obviously. First place we went was crazy driving up to it, definitely needs a serious truck to get up these single track dirt mountain roads. Thats spot didnt pan out, we did see elk and deer sign but the creeks were dried up. Which means the closest guaranteed water was a 3hr drive down the mountain to a stream we pasted. So that night we packed up and drove back into Salmon and slept in the truck in town. Formultated a plan for another spot I E scouted, was definitely going to be more crowded but appeared to have more water sources. So we got here yesterday setup camp and just glassed near by, talk to a few guys and we all have the same idea unfortunately. The plan this a.m. was get up and moving while still dark and get to the backside of these mountains were it appears there are some lakes. My buddy im with is...well he came out and told he never really trained to be in better shape for the hell we are getting into...so it has been slower moving than id like. Welp during the night we could here elk talkin on this mountain face, this a.m. as were ready to roll they start up again. No bugles but definitely elk. So we slip down from camp and setup in a spot where we can see this mt side. As daylight breaks i spot 2 elk up on its ridge. Switch from binos to my spotter, 2 cows estrus calling. Few hours later we circled to the side of a different mt were we can see the spot the cows were in and the likely pine thickets they are beded in. Now we wait for sun down when they will get on their feet again to go feed, hoping a bull is in tow. Cross your fingers for us!6 points

Thanks. I'm now mostly a ground hunter. But we do have quite a few ladderstands scattered around the property. All stands are always checked out in August and September. This one has brand new straps. Just don't use it much. Only good for a S or SE wind. The predominant wind here is NE. So up I go this afternoon!5 points

10/16/22#1Kunox and I arrive at 7:30 this morning to track a bear that was shot last night. After a thorough search, the only evidence of a hit was from the field where it was shot. This consisted of hair with skin attached. Zero blood anywhere. I believe this to be a grazing shot. They’re putting cameras out in the area to see if it shows itself.#2Kunox and I continued on to our second track. This was a confirmed gutshot from last night. The huntress was after her first deer and wanted it to be with a bow. The doe was shot in a large green field from a ground blind at 12 yards. Unfortunately it was low and the doe walked into the woods. At 11:00 last night, they went in and followed the bloodtrail about 100 yards before backing out. They did a great job of marking blood with toilet paper. Kunox took us to the doe who had gone a total of just under 1/2 a mile. Congratulations on your first deer Heather!#3Luna got the call for this one, much to Kunox’s dismay. The hunter shot this doe last night and recognized the dark blood he was seeing as liver blood. He did the smart thing and backed out after a short distance. Luna made a hunter happy after only 400 yards.#4Luna also got our last track of the day. This buck was shot this morning in a food plot at 100 yards. The hunter reported hitting it in the shoulder and a front leg wasn’t working after the shot. The best thing to do on a shoulder hit is to push immediately and keep them bleeding. The hunter and his wife (actually his wife, since he’s color blind) followed the bloodtrail for 300 yards, bumping him once. They lost blood at that point. We arrived about 6 hours after the shot. I figured we were going to have a long track in the hilly, rocky terrain before catching up with the buck. Luna locked on immediately, pulling hard the length of the track. We got to the last blood which was marked with an orange glove, and I marked it on the gps and we continued. 200 yards later we found the nice 8 point dead. It turns out the buck had not been hit in the shoulder. Looked like liver area, angling down through the guts. This really drives home the point that you can’t always believe what you thought you saw! I didn’t stay for the field dressing since I was running late for a birthday party fo5 points

Man it was slowwww until last 10 min. Had five bucks come out. All within 10 yards. Was looking nearly vertically down at this guy when pic was taken. I tried and tried and tried but I couldn’t make him 4 and I may regret but is what it is.5 points

It’s called a farm , actually they were 350ish it’s 330 to the hedgerow, they were the other side of it . From this stand I can see with binos about 4500 feet to the south , but with a crossbow I’m only good to 4000.4 points

You’re saying all of North America whitetails have the same racks? Anticosti island? Florida? Iowa? NY? That’s the most idiotic thing I’ve ever heard. So what is the average 1.5 score? And average 2.5 score? Are you saying Chef’s buck is 1.5 for the 4th year in a row because he’s not 115”? Chef will most certainly get a shoulder mount and have it back in 4-6 months too. Who wouldn’t mount a 4.5-5.5 buck that he chased for 3 years? Why hate instead of congratulate? Great first sit of the yr. Seen 12. Had a 4pt, spike and 3 does within 15 yards. All got passes. The 3 8pts didn't follow the script, and crossed over to the field about 100 yrds down.4 points

Nice morning in the box blind with muzzleloader. Doe and fawn paid us a visit. Yesterday our “pet” 4 pt came out as we were leaving. I followed him around talking to him as he fed and rubbed a few trees. It was hysterical. I got to within 10 feet of him. He followed my wife and I all summer. Whether I was brush hogging…running chain saw..or my wife clearing brush.3 points

So there is another buck with a very similar rack. This is my target buck. I’m guessing I stuck this guy last time. With the head in the brush very hard to tell them apart Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

Tenderloins are for sure a loss… everything else seems fine, honestly there was a ton of blood in the cavity in front of the diaphragm and while the guts were swollen and stunk there wasn’t a ton of guy mess in the cavity Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

Live from my house window. 5 deer 2 does 3 skippers out back. 1 skipper has been out there since 1230. Enjoying the winter rye and soccer field grass. Looked at them through scope not orphaning a fawn today. Beautiful day outside.2 points

Came out at the end of my hunt yesterday afternoon after seeing no deer. Came up over the rise on the way out, and there were at least a dozen deer in the field. Including two shooter bucks. So the plan this afternoon, is to hunt a stand on that field edge that hasn't been hunted in years. May not get a shot, but will hopefully see where those bucks are entering? Light SE wind will be perfect for this spot too.2 points

Well, the deer called me a friggin liar today.. Every deer I've seen today fed through the neighbors hay lot into the rye fields to feed. These 4 fed up to my position and wouldn't have had a clue I was there except I forgot to turn the flash off, and the first pic definitely caught there attention, lol.2 points

Just a few words ... I recently had a Tit for Tat conversation with a confirmed Liberal on Facebook ... I believe I sent the individual into a mental breakdown with the question " So , How many Illegals are you Housing " the individual blocked me and removed all his posts and naturally did not answer the question . I repeatedly asked the same question and he repeatedly brought up the previous Admin's corruption , all without answering the Question . Just a thought ! I thought it was quite Humorous !2 points

First time I ever got 2 in 1 day! Same stand I got the doe this morning from. Just before 6pm came out in the same spot as the morning doe but from the opposite direction and not quite broadside. Came right to me, shot her at 10 yards. Dropped within sight. Couldn't ask for a better day! And this stand is less than 300 yards from my backdoor. Really glad I bought this garage fridge! Been on alot of deer the last few days. Had a few spikes come in. A nice buck that wouldn't come closer that 175 yards. Took this doe. Very low hit. Thanks to my father in law we made a good recovery. Very happy with the harvest and the good meat she will provide.2 points
