  4. Bought the thing. Seven days ago I wasn’t in the market for a boat. Damn funny how these things happen! Didn't try it in the water, just on muffs. Started right up, ran smooth, sounded fine when revved up, and shifted cleanly in forward and reverse. Trim pump sounded like it should. Electric anchor seems nice, never had one on my other boats. Solid floor and transom, full fiberglass interior in good enough shape for the age. It should clean up well. Nice surprise - fore and aft livewells!! One pump replaced last year. Didn’t know it had that. Inexpensive eagle fish finder but it works. Seats are old but all in good shape. Two pedestal seats for fishing. Trailer has surge brakes. 3 point ski pylon and he threw in a tube and pair of skis. Nice guy, we shot the breeze for a half hour. $3800. I think this may have been a good buy! Trip to the bank for a withdrawal tomorrow morning!

  6. I made my nephew a true trout bum. Started him tying at 12. Seems it helped his ADD/OCD. Got him fly fishing at 14. When he was 16 and driving he was caught cutting school to go fly fishing. He graduated associate degree this year .and has been fishing every chance he can get. His mom just stopped and asked if I had seen or heard from this morning . I was on the back porch sipping coffee at 5:30 am when he drove by with his fishing buddy this morning . They were headed in the direction of our home trout stream. Apparently the was suppose to help load hay in the barn . I was informed this was my fault . I have created a monster . I'm ok with it ... I will take the blame . Kid has to get as much time on the stream now as he is moving on to a 4 year school this fall and wont have time to fish much. Probably a good thing I haven't gotten him on the great lakes tribs for browns and steelhead yet . He wouldn't go back to school.

  7. I spend as much time as I can with both of my parents. I know that that time is likely short. I was offered a very lucrative position at a horse ranch in Lexington, KY doing custom carpentry so their uber-rich clients could see how well their horses live. It was a substantial six figure job and I turned it down because it would have meant being away from my parents at a time when they need me.They've cared about me for the sixty years that I've been here, I owe them. Some people think that sentiment is stupid. I don't.

  9. Well we caught some. I hooked them he reeled and was he was really confused why we put them back but not the minnows in the bucket. Anyways he was really excited and actually touched them. Hes got alot of energy so not close up photos but 1. Hed run back screaming no before i tossed them back. But we also tryed to see how he was on kayak and did very well. First one is him trying to figure out where the first fish went.

  10. What a great day yesterday. Finally started getting nymphing down with the help of chef. I think i got one hit, but when i went to set the hook, my tipped broke so who knows. We moved a little further upsstream and waited hours for fish to start rising consitently, but I couldnt get anything to take my dry. I tried sulphurs and elk hair caddis, but nothing worked. I definitely will be hitting the delaware from now on and need to get more flies.

  12. Was out in the driveway and look up to see these guys strolling by down the shoulder of the road. Walked side by side on the shoulder until they were out of sight. Kind of wobbly walking. Must be their first little adventure. Maybe 10 inches long not counting the tail. Cute when they’re young.

  15. That bigger fish was rising in front of me for a hour, wouldn’t touch a sulpher, Black caddis, tan caddis. Finally right at dark I tied one a coffin even though there were none on the water. He crushed it on the 3rd cast. I wound up being stuck between two big boulders and almost wound up in the drink trying to bet net him, I needed a assist in the end! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  25. Rather than starting a new thread I figured I would add to this one. I needed a table for the end of a couch at my daughter's and made this to match the 2 tables I refinished that are posted on this thread earlier. This table is designed to slide over the armrest at the end of the couch. It's nice getting back to work on some projects in the shop. May was not a good month for doing anything other than hunting and recovering from hunting!

  45. Well ide ike to start by saying holy crap i love the senkos. I caught by far my biggest bass. Ended up with 2 little pike on the lure rob mentioned forgot to take pictures they were both about a foot. 4small mouth and this pig on the senkos. Thank you again grampy and rob. I had this fish hit my line atleast 4 times before i got a hook to stick. He was about 15 ft from shore so it didnt take long to get him in but when i got him just to shore the line broke and he layed half in the water half out so i jumped in to get him. Got a little wet but this was not just any bass. Guessed him at about 18 inches. Didnt have my tape measure and no scale but ide say atleast 4lbs. But hes is back to catch another day. Pictures just dont do him justice could barley get my hand around his tale when i put him back in.

  46. I do not believe it is the outline of the horse that makes deer feel safe it is the pattern of the foot steps and easy nature of the horse that seems to relax deer. They also do not seem to acknowledge that a person is on the horse and seem to pay more attention to the animal. Personally I would not use anything that might look like a deer in the woods even during bow season. A horse could be real easy to mistake for a deer, the outline and color are very similar. Goes back to Identify then place shot but we all know how that first step can be skipped in the heat of the moment especially when "I have a tag for anything" (brown and down) hunters. Storm914 Yes they are called Ghost blinds and work awesome!

  47. To clarify this new tax, for decades, if someone purchased an item from a mail order catalog, like Sears, the seller was not required to collect sales tax for the state the item was being shipped to. If anything, they should have been collecting the sales tax required by the state it was sold in. How it was ever decided that catalog sales would not require any sales tax I do not know. Online sales simply followed the catalog sales playbook. Politicians have been salivating over catalog & online sales taxes for years, just trying to get up the nerve to implement it. They feel they are entitled to a commission on everything that is sold in this country, as if they had any positive impact on the sale of any goods in this country. Sales taxes do not do anything positive for the economy and they are not collected to pay any expenses the government incurs in the sales process. They are simply a means of grabbing money the government feels is palatable to the public, based on the lie the government needs the money in the general fund to run the government. The trouble is, the government always expands it's expenses needed to run itself beyond whatever revenue it can extort from taxpayers. The more tax revenue it collects, the more it spends. The more it spends, the more it needs the tax revenue. Once the public agrees to give them these taxes, they will become permanent, with no hope of them ever being eliminated and no hope of the government ever reducing it's spending. The worst part of all this is, people start buying less. That hurts the sellers and the economy. So, in actuality, the government is hurting the citizens, the businesses and the economy, for it's own self centered greed. Any tax collected for any reason, that is not absolutely required to run the basic requirements of government, is theft. Politicians who demand more taxes without first cutting all wasteful government spending, are thieves.

  48. Finally had another game tonight. Her team lost but she had a great play at second. In all honestly it was a routine grounder to second but in her 9u division you don’t see it very often. She scooped the ball up made a great toss to first just in time to get the runner out. Best part is she ended the game with a smile and we stopped for ice cream at the local joint on the way home.
