Good year for apples?

Anyone think this year is gonna be a good year for apples? i see lots of young apples already on the trees.

mine are loaded!! Here's a question. Mine had so many it started dropping a ton, My guess is the tree needs to be prunned up. Am I correct?

This is going to be a good year for all fruit and nuts. I have a peach tree that may need some early thinning just to keep it from destroying itself.

 

I am getting my first crop of apples off my trees and it looks like there will be a lot of them.

 

By the way, not only was the blossoming conditions perfect, we also did not have our usual plague of gypsy moths, tent caterpillars and Japanese beetles. I'm not sure what happened to all those, but I have not seen even one this year.

Noticed the crabapple and wild pear trees were pretty loaded a few weeks ago, while I was mowing.

Re: pruning question.....Even well-pruned trees often set too many apples. Then some fall off early in their development....nature's way of taking some stress off the tree.

I just noticed that my Mccowan apple tree is dropping little green apples, I picked up 7-8 apples yesterday when I cut the lawn. I thought it might be insects although I didn't see any sign of bugs on the leaves.

Apples, pears, plums, peaches, and cherries all look good here so far. Now,  wish for hail free and we'll have a home run!

Same here ...with the exception of my pears 4 trees and they had a severe fruit drop...due to those late freezes...but my Kiwi is so loaded that I will get hundreds of pounds of fruit...or giant man eat sized raccoons...LOL

While working on the house yesterday, I noticed my crabapple is LOADED. Never seen it so fruit-heavy.

 

Heard the same thing from some apple farmers in Wayne Co. Looks like a good start.

should be good as long as we don't end up with dought conditions. fruit and nuts are set and developing nicely.

I cant believe the apples I'm seeing. Last year was my first season at the new house and I only had a few trees produce. This year there's a lot and my peach and pear are doing well too. I agree that i've also had a lot of drops already and did some minor pruning. Nothing major, but just enough to keep the branches from drooping and to hopefully force the trees to put a little more energy in branch development. I had a lot of neglected trees that I'm trying to bring back and so far it seems to be working ok.

I haven't been out since the end of last month, but the apples and pears looked pretty damn healthy then. Even the ones further into the woods. I assume nothing has changed.

Exactly what I am encountering now. I would say that there is about 95% drop.  and yes the trees are relatively young, and of course we have been having nothing but rain. Boy am I disappointed. This was the first year that the trees survived our usual late valley frosts and there was a lot of little apples on each of the trees. It's also the first time in several years that we have been caterpillar and beetle free. Man, if it's not one thing its another.

Yep...apple trees on my property are loaded up with a bunch falling off already too. Seems like the trees are trying to make up for no fruit last year

We checked the trees on the farm the other day, not much for apples at all. The one tree that always has them, theres not a single apple on it. I still have a few more trees to look at, but its not looking good there. I havent checked up at my dad's place yet.

We had little post bloom frosts this year and ample rain... very good year for apples, the high amount of rain has brought out more apple scab, but the deer wont mind if you are not on a spray program.

Mine are doing the same thing, just nature taking it course on getting rid of the excess.

I sprayed them twice this year, hope we have a good crop.

still dropping 2-3 apples a day, all seem to be deformed, most apples on the tree look deformed, does that indicate bugs or worms? should I be looking into spraying the tree? any suggestions as to what spray I should use?
