Marion
Apparently these commentators know nothing about animal medicine. Had they had any knowledge they would know after a certain age in the deer they do not respond well to anesthesia. Beyond a young age when they come out of anesthesia they can literally go insane and freak out and die that way, so it's better to put them down. Sad but true. As a source I know vets who have told me that as well as a farm where I once brought my pet deer to live, yes I had a pet deer and it was awesome Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

philoshop
I once had an injured deer walk into my yard. After 2.5 seconds of deliberation on whether it was 'seeking help', I killed it and eventually ate it. The Disney-Brains are voters. That's the scary takeaway here. On the other hand, I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. Almost as good as the woman asking to move the deer crossing signs. https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=%22move+the+deer+crossing+signs...%22&ei=UTF-8&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-001 Edited October 28, 2015 by philoshop

zeus1gdsm
Wow... Blown away.... The one post about how they "buy their food in a grocery store"...... People are so far detached from their natural world it's insane.... I'm sure that deer lived more in its short life than the chemically grown and mass produced huge farm livestock they buy at the store ever did... Maybe we should have saved it and let the smart deer vote and strip the commenters of their rights to vote. Perhaps then we could have a POTUS with a brain!
Nomad
Our daughter works at Strong, one of her co workers posted, " I wanted venison burgers ! " To bad they find not grill it on site. Years ago a deer was hit by one of our firehouses , it was dinner for the men . Glad there was no Facebook, then......
Culvercreek hunt club
You just can't make this stuff up. To think that these idiots are out there breeding and voting. How many of them that are championing for the deer would be lined up to carry a sign in a free choice rally?
Merlot
surprised Rev Jackson and Sharpton aren't out front of Strong protesting with loudpeakers. Deer lives matter...oh boy.

steve863
Now if they would only do the same to uninsured humans that walk into hospital emergency rooms my health insurance premiums might not be as outrageous!!

Elmo
So what do you think these people's attitudes are toward hunting? ... lol Well, one person did use the "why don't you just buy your meat at a supermarket" comment which never fails to always appear at least once. In other news outlets, they did a better job at covering the details. They mentioned that they did try their best to get the deer to a vet but once Animal Control Officer determined that the deer wasn't going to survive he put it out of it's misery. As you would figure, the comments were a lot different but much less entertaining.
NFA-ADK
WoW talk about out of touch! These are the same people who would protest hunting and they are multiplying by the minute! The internet + TV and movies and a sheltered life = Idiots out of touch with reality.
growalot
Devils advicate... So Wow what a media oppornunity they screwed themselves out of. Just think about it for one moment.. They had already restrained ..mind you...a DEER that went to their ER in search of help(thats how I would spin it) Being on a gurney It was transported to the nearst animal ER where it could be properly cared for... Hell, if it had lived the Strong ER / hospital would have gotten world press and good world press at that...instead they opted for a sheriff bullet to the head while on the gurney?? Seriously Someones fanny should be feeling the heat on such a lost opportunity...just saying

Seriously Someones fanny should be feeling the heat on such a lost opportunity...just saying No offense, but I want them minimizing their time on this BS. Because that is what it is when comparing a deer to their mission at hand, saving PEOPLE's lives. Look, we all want the best for the deer in that scenario. But, at the end of the day, quickly resolve the disruption and get back to saving lives. If one person died as a result of that effort to "save" the deer, that's pretty darn screwed up. Screw the "good press" component. Edited October 28, 2015 by phade
Nomad
Just who is gong to transport it ? The hospitals don't have ambulances I can tell you with 100% certainty no ambulance company is going to put a deer in and transport it , and that's good as we need them for people. The wait time for an ambulance right now can be real long in the city and often suburban ones have to cover calls, it's quite common for me to ask for an eta for the ambulance more then once. My plan at my home is to,load a family member in the car and go to RGH , I can be there before a rig can reach my home. Really don't want one taken out of service transporting a deer . The best thing a hospital can do is , get it outside as soon as possible and go back to treating people . growalot
When did life get so complicated for all of you? For one thing they already had the thing ON a GURNEY....it was OUT THE DOOR. Please what are you talking about ... ppls lifes at risk...saving and animal over ppl , Going BACK to treat people? Is there some sort of assumption here that with in the walls of a hospital or an ER that there are ONLY interns, nurses, and Doctors? Because I can say I have been to the ER's of Strong, highland,Genesee, Canadaqua,Bath, and Warsaw.. Yes I'm accident proan. They have many support staff on hand Also remember, It Clearly said that 2 sheriff and THE HOSPITAL public safety officers did the strapping down and taking out ...NOT Medical personel ....also I know its the city... but there was a time that if someone waiting at the ER not patient ..with a truck would have stepped up... Now I was playing devils advicate but now I'm thinking some of your answers really are just a tad under the same types your laughing at, Like I said from a PR ,business sense someone at the hospital should have at least realized what an opportunity they had....what types of people do you think die and leave lots of money to hospitals? That said not knowing how long nor what time of day this occurred perhaps those hospital personal weren't in house to hear of this at the time...Though from the comments that followed, you and the hospital know what type of people follow such stories....Deer was more than likely dead anyways but business is business and a missed opportunity...Hospitals are businesses.
