So what bullet are you using this season?

Ill be using 180gr Barnes TSX loaded by Blackhills in 30-06 but ill be switching to Barnes Vortx TTSX once the season ends becuase black hills no longer loads TSX.

Whatever I have on hand that was brought on sale during the summer. I don't buy into the "premium" ammo thing. Game has been taken for 100's of years with whatever hunters had on hand at the time. It's all about hitting your target, not the ultra-expensive bullet you're shooting.

Barnes Vor-Tx TTSX 150 gr .308. I made the switch to copper solids to keep as much lead out of our food as possible. I've seen two deer shot with them so far and both dropped in their tracks. I don't think there is any compromise in performance.

I'll admit it's for selfish reasons on my part. My wife and I will be having kids in the next few years, and the science is pretty clear on lead's effects on cognitive development. These kids are already starting life with half my genes. Why handicap them further?

Shot the Brenneke KO, 12 ga, 3 inch sabots for years, but had to make a switch to Lightfields, this year due to availability issues. Those Brenneke's would knock a deer right off its feet.  Midway use to carry them. The Lightfields sighted in rather well.
