RangerClay
The 2015 deer season was my daughters first year. I set her up in what I thought was a good spot and I moved a couple hundred yards away. She saw only one deer but still had a good time. Still I wanted to make it better. Fast forward to September 2016. I figured since I was seeing bucks on my watch last year I would install a double treestand and hopefully I would put her on a buck. So I asked you guys for your opinion on double treestands and out of the blue Cabin Fever (aka Bob) said he would gladly give me a double treestand, all I had to do was come get it. I met Bob in the Finger Lakes and I only wish we had longer to talk. We were both passing on our way to something else we had to do. Super nice guy! A few weeks later I set it up. Fast forward to opening weekend of southern tier gun season. If you recall Saturday was a hot day and Sunday was snowy. Saturday passed with very few deer showing up. We saw a few deer but nothing close. The deer really were not moving. Sunday rolled around and I knew the snow would get the deer on their feet and boy were they ever. We had several does moving all around us. I knew something was going to happen. We had several deer above us on a ridge but we could not make out if they were bucks or does. Abi suggested that I use my grunt tube. So I gave it a round of tending grunts. All of a sudden a deer ran up from the bottom and stopped 75 yards in front of us. We both scoped it and it was a 1-1/2 year old doe. I lifted my head and whispered it's a doe. Abi, still on the deer asked if she could shoot it. I started to say "Yeah" but all I got out of my mouth was the letter Y and BANG. The deer mule kicked and ran out of sight down hill. Before we had a chance to high-5 a deer comes running up from the bottom and lays down 20 yards from the stand on my side. I told Abi that it was probably her deer and we should wait. We gave it some time and it wasn't dying so I put a shot in the neck. Abi's shot was a little back, she destroyed the liver. Then the celebration began, "I can't breath" were the first words out of her mouth. We hugged and I was more of a basket case then she was. We climbed down and first went to where she shot the deer so she could track it. We took lots of pictures and I showed her how to gut the deer. Since the drag was down hill on snow I let her drag it out. So a BIG THANK YOU BOB! You made my daughters first deer a reality. I sent you a bottle in the mail yesterday of Hulbert's Holiday White. It is best served ice cold. I apologize for the delay but with two teenagers involved in everything possible at school I don't get on the computer as much as I used to. Here are some pictures, your photo loader turned a couple of them sideways. Not sure how to fix that.

Nomad
Congrats and tip of the hat to Cabin Fever . There is quite a bit of things like that , that go on behind the scenes here. One guy lent a barrel to another members daughter to try, others have sent beer to guys, helped guys find bucks, given away a bag of antlers to a guy so he could do projects with his son, signed over doe permits, taken newbies out, to name few I know of . Keep it up fellas and gals ! Edited January 4, 2017 by Larry302

Cabin Fever
Joe, you sure brightened my day with your story and seeing Abi's smile!! (OK, the bottle of wine was a nice touch too! ) I got the wine today, poured a glass, and logged in to thank you. My daughter and I shared that same stand when she got her first deer, so hopefully some of that luck was still in the stand. Congrats to you both!!
