I really appreciate the feedback guys!

I've been told I'm overly critical of my own work so sometimes I tend to look at the minor imperfections more than the final piece as a whole.

That's just my way of trying to improve the best I can I suppose.

Thanks for following along, and hope I'm not boring anybody with this stuff this winter!

Finished up the second side and just need to touch up the feet and attach the tail to the bird now.

I want to carve something in the base but not sure what yet.

Not even sure how I'll finish this one yet to be honest with ya's, but I've got some time to think about it before I get ahead of myself..

I forgot to measure it, but it's right around 60"-62".

I gotta snap a pic for you tomorrow.

This guy carved an eagle with a fish in it's mouth on top of a Buffalo head out of a tree that cracked in half during a storm a few years ago.

The carving is located right next to the parking lot of the Public House restaurant on rt.5 in Hamburg. .....it may spark some more ideas for ya.

That's awesome mlammerhirt! Eventually I'd like to start incorporating multiple critters interacting in one carving.

For now I'm just trying to perfect the individuals-haha!

Got a little burn and coat of oil on this guy today. Next I'll build him a tail and figure out what I'm gonna do on the base before I seal it.

Its amazing to me that you can look at a log and see something like that in it. And then have the talent to be able to make it is truly remarkable. Thanks for sharing your work.

i know right.... one time i took a stick and sharpened it and poked stuff with it.......phht .... this carving stuff is simple.
