Never in 12 years have, I heard a Shot over there. It is good to hear them though. Sometimes my calling will have 1 or 2 Toms fly that River to my side before the next morning. That is when, I nail them. I once hunted a area that had a creek separating the property's. Little before roost time I'd set up and call like mad. I'd cut, cackle and just make a crap load of horny hen calls. Every once in a while, one would fly over to my side before roosting, and roost on my side. One time I had to lay prone in a field because a tom came over to my side and was quite eager to meet his new girlfriend. It was so dark, I could barely see him strutting 30 yrds away. Next morning it took one series of ckucks once it reached legal shooting time.

kpkot
Took my 3 year old out today. we had a blast. Saw 6 deer and two turkeys on the drive there. Walking in we saw five deer. Got set up in the blind at 915. Shortly after we saw a huge raccoon. After an hour a hen came in real close and decided to attack my decoy. All my son kept saying was wow over and over. Not too long after a thunder storm rolled in and that's when the gobblers cut loose. I figured there were 3 total. 2 seemed like they were Jake's the way they were gobbling. They had hens as one would not stop yelping. I tried to cut her off and no dice. She had ten to twelve note yelps it was crazy. We made it 2 hrs 40 minutes and I was impressed. The action definitely kept him interested.

At one point the gobbling got close I promised him ice cream if he sat still. Will held up his end even though the birds didn't. Note chocolate ice cream all over face. He crashed hard after hunt at least he stayed awake while hunting. 6

Adkhunter1590
Hunting with a buddy who has permission to hunt a golf course. There’s loads of gobblers here. Since there isn’t a huge amount of woods to roam we are sticking to one spot for most the morning hoping to draw one in. We listened to at least 12 different birds going off this morning. It was cool listening to them shock gobble at the booms of thunder. And good thing we brought a blind to sit in, rains on and off every 20 mins or so. Everything got quiet 30 mins ago but hoping something is headed our way silently.

Hunt the later holes woods so I didn’t touch one off in their backswing on hole #2 lol Sneaking out with a bird over my shoulder past the first tee always fun
LET EM GROW
My data decided to stop working for a few days now so I couldn't update here.. Got out for the 3rd time this season yesterday.. Put over 3 miles on the boots trying to find a bird, We listened from a good vantage spot before flydown.. but the woods were dead, zero gobbling anywheres, no wildlife about at all.. Only had til 7-730am to enjoy.. Never heard or seen a bird on a big property that hold birds.. It was a great hunt still, Finally got to hunt and reminisce with my brother, who hit a real low when my father passed in 2016. I have tomorrow off since my stepson has a half day of school, I have a good feeling he will get sick tonight so we are going to hit the woods early. Ive only been able to take him out once before and that was about 5 years ago.. Im excited to say the least! He is with his dad every weekend so we really never get to do anything during the week when life takes over..

dbHunterNY
i've been working on bldg a garage and my day job has been in overdrive. haven't made it out yet. been roosting and calling in birds from the neighbors behind the house to within range but a creek that surrounds the property makes them hangup from coming right into my yard. couple toms in the group a younger longbeard and one a bit older based on hooks he's got for spurs. neighbor is an older lady that likes watching them so i can't and won't hunt her land that surrounds me. haven't made it to the farm but haven't heard any reports of anyone taking birds there either. this month is been crazy but i'm running out of time. better get out there if i'm going to take anything. lol i'm more of a deer hunter than a turkey hunter. can ya tell?

Adkhunter1590
Well we gave it hell this morning but no luck. Tons of birds gobbling around us until about 8oclock. Then silence. Didn’t hear anything after that. Had a lone hen come wandering into our setup about 930. Packed up and walked around a bit hitting the call every few mins trying to strike a gobble but nothing would bite. Might try again in the morning if I can wake up on time, but it’s looking like this weekend will be the last shot we have.
2012_taco
I came close this morning! I'm back in little valley and at first light I hear a gobble below on the neighbors piece. I worked to the pl and called, boom! 5 minutes later I see a hen coming my way calling, so I mimicked her and she came right in with another hen and 2 LB's. I got them all grouped together at 35 yds so I can't shoot. Sure as s#*t she flanks me and takes them all into the open field behind me. I watched some good turkey porn for a couple of minutes! At 9 I had 2 LB's come to the edge of the field gobbled 2x, I'm sure they could see my decoys but they wouldn't come in. SOB! Going to Baltimore for the long weekend, so I'm done until next Wednesday. Good luck to all this weekend!

landtracdeerhunter
I'm still seeing big Tom's on my travels around. Looking really bright and shinny, this time of year. I laugh, as I drive by them. Farmers are in the fields later this year; as are the turkeys.
turkeyfeathers
Meeting cousin at 4:30 in morning. He’s never shot a bird. He kills 5-6 deer every year. Never had a bird all wound up in front of him. This will be great if it works out. Stay tuned. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
