Is your list growing??

  As i hunt every year I keep jotting down notes of things I want to do or improve for next year.  Already have a 2 page list, i put it in my phone while i am hunting while i think of it, then add it to the list later.  Sometimes its as simple as trim branch on some certain stand or its cut a 250 yard 10 yard wide path or move a stand etc.  Next seasons biggest project looks to be to get a brush hog.  I have to write it down right then or i will forget it .  Anyone else do this? Ive already made myself a lot of work for the offseason but thats ok , i enjoy it.

I have a long one myself, This second year on our lease has been huge,  we have learned a ton on how the deer use it. Lots of work ahead of us but looking forward to it.

I don’t keep one other than mentally but a written list is a better idea.  I already have a few stand moves in mind and I need to start thinking about trimming for gun.  Seems like I just worry about bow and then don’t have the lanes I would like for stands in gun.

i was thinking that exact thing this weekend.  Sitting in two of my stands - was thinking i should have trimmed two different spots for gun lanes that wouldnt effect bow at all. And i didnt even consider it while prepping for this season.   

My buddy nicked a tree this weekend on a shot at a buck and two years ago it was in the way for his archery shot - can guarantee that tree doesnt have much of a future - lol

Yep. Usually dont right it down.  Big move for next year is no more lease cost to much to drive there and maybe see something. So next year ill be back to strictly stateland where i have better luck.

Lately I've been paying more attention to how the patterns change depending on the season . I take mental notes about where I saw the deer activity depending on where it falls according to the rut. I made changes to my stand locations based on last year's rut activity ,I've run cameras since May and my findings are turning out to repeat this season. I think I've gone all in on hunting spots that had deer sign before/early season and then come time for the bucks to be on the move ,I'm in the wrong spots.

Dont write them down, but i do have a list going. Expanding 2 plots, clearing out a young growth beech tree area, goin to drop some bigger trees in that area too to open up the canopy. Theres a retention pond i guees you would call it off the back of my field. It dries up it the warm months, id like to try and dig it out some and figure out how to seal it up to hold water better.

I play it like moog,make a mental list and i also tend to focus on bow more than gun,but thats ok. I will definitely move my two hang on stands and i am thinking hard about a new mobile set up for next season,looks like a saddle and climbing sticks right now.

I do the same thing. List is growing all the time. So far trimming two spots, quieting an annoying loud squeak that popped up on one of my ladder stands everytime I shift my weight or move, 2 new stand locations, and have a spot pegged for putting in my first ever food plot.

More of a personal "honey do" list. Actually I have an ongoing note on my cellphone of stuff that is needed or needs to be done at the camp: groceries, chores, maintenance etc. so I can set the money aside. The unwritten list is where trees need to be cut/ brush lines moved back, etc.

Rob, that’s a good idea to write it down when you see it.   I always have a hard time still hunting on my property, I stop looking for deer and start looking at future projects.    I have written down when I plant my food plots, how big they are, and what seed, fertilizer etc, but that is after the fact.    I do have a mental to do list, but if it was written down it would be more likely to be done!

I always have a ton of things I wanna do and I need to start right after the season because once spring starts it gets really challenging time wise.

I am going to build multiple enclosed huts specifically for gun season where I can reduce my sent and brave the elements longer.

I also need to continue on enhancing a bedding area, I'm trying to reduce the autumn olive and make way for more goldenrod!

Want to buy some apple trees and chestnuts and place them around the new food plot edge. Specifically apples that mature at different times throughout the fall.

Last but not least ( might not get to this) building the Taj Mahal by the new plot. Basically a small cabin 10/12 feet up over looking the plot where my son and I can hangout all day and night. Solar, heat, makeshift bathroom and two recliners we can sit and sleep in.

I move a stand from time to time , that’s about it . Actually I’m thinking the 7 I got, may be three or four to many , there’s two that are really good year after year and a couple more that are ok .

Bow and gun bucks were killed out of the same stand this year , I could probably get by with that one alone .

There were two in my neighbors yard as I washed the youngest ones car a bit ago  . She stopped at our house while in route to hers from an audit in another town , so today my non hunting daughter saw more deer then the one who hunted today .

Its goes like that sometimes .

Well I know an in, Horn Hunter and I frequent the same craft brewery ,he’s one of us beer guys,  Fletch .
