Nugent may be a lot of things (some good some not so good), but one thing he is not and that is an idiot. Rough around the edges ..... abrasive ..... a bit prone to making bad decisions in his personal life ..... but there is no one who can beat him when it comes to arguing gun and hunting issues armed with facts. I have seen him make complete babbling idiots out of some people that are supposedly professional debaters who make their living destroying opponents to liberal ideologies. Perhaps he doesn't always conduct his personal life in the positive fashion, but he does know his gun and hunting debate facts better than any other person that I have seen arguing pro-gun positions. Is he a good or bad representative of the gun and hunting community? Well, That is still up for debate. But the guy is not stupid.

I've seen pictures of this before, but this was the first time I've ever seen it for myself. Two of these guys did battle while the other two followed them around in half strut for the better part of an hour. Eventually I remembered I still had my box call in my pack, so I gave them a couple clucks and they made their way across the field to me.

One of The Mermaid's flower beds had a bumper crop of garter snakes this year. She wanted me to kill'em, but I refused. So far I have caught six of them, including a BIG ol feller, and transplanted them. I've been turning them loose on my ex-wife's property...<<GRIN>>....

Spiders and snakes..............UGGH! I know, they are both important but I could GIF. Can stand either one but snakes REALLY freak me out. I just never liked them............one time when fishing Canadice back in the mid 70's my buddy Steve L. and a close encounter with either a spotted adder or python of some sort. We were in our 16' Lyman boat and had rowed over to a large willow that hung over a good hole. Seems as though one of us had made too long of a cast and got hung up. With the price of a CP swing those days (especially when funded with a 14 year olds allowance ) we had to get it unhooked. We proceeded to grab it but at the same time this HIGHLY venomous snake dropped into the bow from a branch overhead. Holy Kielbasa!! We almost chopped a hole in the old wooden boat with the oars trying to kill the highly dangerous snake. Needless to say we both survived the attack and the only thing killed was the snake. Soooooooooo, you can keep those missing snakes MIA and it won't break my heart...........

July 26 Ogdensburg Seaway festival float setup 7:30 am, Judging 8am parade begins at 11am the theme is “Redneck” Hello Patriots, The Northern New York Freedom Fighters are planning an event. Date July 26th 2014 Place Ogdensburg NY Time 11AM Event Ogdensburg International Seaway Festival Parade Freedom March We will be participating in this huge parade again this year. Last year we had a rolling rally. The estimated number of people last year who attended was 30 thousand. We will have our anti unsafe act float with Melody Burns enlightening the crowd as well as music and informational handouts. We are asking all like minded patriots from across the state to join us. Wear your group colors and walk with us to show our solidarity and strength. Our hope is to put a large number on the street. Went up to the camp this weekend since I had a break off from work and got some planting done. First frost for me has come in late September the past few years and I had the time with the thunderstroms coming tomorrow. Planted Lickcreek Mix. Because we do a lot of bow hunting and clover was so thick we went 50 % clover 25 % Grasses 25% brassica. We rototilled the entire new plot area. Fertilized with 46-0-0 and the 6-24-24 planted and cultipacked. We actually used a lawn roller off of amazon that you fill with water as a cultipacker and it worked great. Here is a picture of me spraying the clover with cleth and a view of the grasses plot in the back. there is a variety of 10 apple trees below where this picture ends. They are still fenced off and are starting to produce fruit Here is a shot of the brassica plot that has crab apples running throughout it. We sprayed the bases of the crab apples and fertilized accordingly. And finally here is a gun stand that we built overlooking the plots Deer are showing up more often and looking fatter than ever just need to start seeing some mass.

I'll bet if I was there it would have lived. Some how some way most deer i encounter end up living!

I figure I might as well try an Xbow and purchased a Excalibur "Axiom". The biggest advantage I see is not having to draw on a deer which means a lot since I am primarily a ground hunter. I am also looking forward to using a different weapon to harvest a whitetail. I find it ironic that I also bought a recurve bow this year to learn traditional archery.

Was up to the Stateland near by and once again can't believe the amount of trash left behind.I hauled out 6 conhtractor bag's full and that was crazy who ever is doing this should be paying for trash pick up.

Hahaha....man there needs to be a tour bus loaded up and driven out to the Tuesday/ Thursday livestock auctions....you'd all stop eating meat...or hidden cameras in ANY restaurant kitchen during it's busy Friday/ Saturday dinner hours...Hell I've seen prime ribs in fancy restaurants fly across a stainless steel table.... hit the floor and slide under the storage units...pulled out with a broom handle covered in crap...literally ..rinsed off and carved up...yep and that is a mild story...lol

Water is a death sentence. Cams below the Reconyx line do not generally have coated internals. The damage you see is less than the damage you don't. It's just a matter of time if not promptly taken care of. The problem is that cams soak outside for a longtime in conditions that change (humidty/temp rises and falls), making it likely that the internals are going to start corroding quickly before you can do anything about it.

In his case, the pro-gun/hunting stance probably helped him a great deal. Do you think most people would even know or give a hoot about Ted Nugent at this point in his life?? Would any want to attend his concerts? No way. I for one could give a crap about any rock star, but Nugent would have been long forgotten if it wasn't for him keeping his own name in the news thru the gun issue.

Allow the hunters who actually use them to obtain more. That is a good solution for thinning the herd. I am sure some here could use more than the 4 allotted (second chance included). I know I would be happy to have another one.

Look, I personally think he is pretty obnoxious, and probably is someone I wouldn't care to hunt with or hang around with. Yup it was his music that drove me from rock to country and western. That shrieking, squealing guitar noise sent me running. Ok that takes care of all my personal hang-ups on the guy. And when you get finished with all that, it all has to be followed up with a big, "So what!" I don't hear anyone saying they want to be his buddy. But when it comes to hunting and gun issues, the guy has done his homework and can likely out-debate anyone on this forum who refuse to give him credit for that. The other thing I credit him for is the fact that he is one of the few that is actually voicing a public opinion in our support. I hear a lot of people whining about him, but I don't hear any of those people conducting public debate or basically anything else in real support of gun and hunting rights. We always like to kill our own, thinking we are somehow enhancing our own self-image. But the fact of the matter is that damn few people can or will actually speak their beliefs on these subjects publicly.

He's an excellent debater and his knowledge and passion are what impress gun owners. He's also an extremist and a bit of a crackpot- and that's why he probably does more harm than good for his own causes. His tv show where he hunts exotic animals in game preserves and rants about trying to kill as many animals as possible so as to taunt anti-hunters probably doesn't win anyone over either.

So you don't agree with his stance on gun rights. What brilliant anti gun person would win in a debate against him?? Hillary? Dianne Fienstien?? Obama? Believe what you want. I'll bet that most gun owners like the guy. He looks like one step above barbarian?? You mean the long hair??

Smith & Wesson M&P Shield. They come in 9mm and 40 cal. Both are the same size. Single stack mags make for a thin. flat easily concealed pistol. They are high quality and totally reliable. Right around 500 bucks. I would go for the 40 cal. A lot more ass then the 9mm & very controllable.

I'm seeing a normal number of 'em it seems. Stopped the mower the other day to let a good-sized brown make his escape toward my woodpile. Better him in there than the mice! A really pretty corn snake has taken up residence somewhere in or around my tool shed. Again, better than the mice by a long shot. Guess I should start carrying the camera when I go to grab a chainsaw or something so I can get a photo to post. I'll put a warning on the pic, though. I wouldn't want to be responsible for a cardiac incident here.

Amen to that,,,I called the on line then the local store and spoke to manager on a product they should ...use to..but don't now sell... All other hunting stores are carrying the product...yet they carry products from that brand name...24hrs ...that manager has just one more day to call or I will spend my early morning hrs tracking down corporate #'s and raising hell...Why? ...because it's hot and I'm feeling a tad pissy toward stores in general....

Well at least he has the you know what to do what he feels is right. I do not agree with everything he has done and sometimes he causes more harm than good. That said, No one else is doing what he does or is as outspoken as he is and plain and simple most politician can not defeat his logic. Find a better representative of my gun rights and I will support him, until then Uncle Ted gets my approval. God bless him! I would have gone just to support him!

AGREED - I think donkey or fox would be a step up from what they call hamburger at McDonalds.

we've had President's who ran this Country who have done questionable things in their past and even during their presidency...........I'm not too concerned about what Ted has or hasn't done, like Doc said, he's very intelligent and articulate and there aren't too many who can hold a candle to him when it comes to debating.

I have seen some big deer. I'll pull cards this weekend and report back. Going to camp for 3 days with my 10 year old-all fun-n-games!

Moms and the babies sure are in good shape. Bucks look real good too. Maybe 75 lbs. of meat good, LOL. Shows how were adapted the deer herd really is in New York. Tough old winter didn't even throw them a curve.

Cool pictures, Wooly. I've seen it twice...Once years ago on the river flats near Erwin, NY and this year opening day of gobbler season in Ontario. I once saw two groups of gobblers ( perhaps about a dozen in each group) get into a free for all, but as I remember that fracas involved a lot of agressive purring, spurring and wing flapping, but no "necking"...

Sat the field edge tonight but only had two bucks pop out of the corn. Both youngsters, but I was happy to see "Bam-Bam" still has his club horn hanging on! I can't believe how dead it is up there this year.

Nice as in rack size or nice as in meat? If it is a two yr old the meat will be very good. Can't eat the rack

A bad apple year is usually a great hunting year, get your scouting in..find the few trees with apples and the deer will be there...like candy... when there are 20 acres of apples tough to find the tree the deer will come to..

I hate seeing garbage in the woods. I know this isn't the same scale you're talking about, and it's more a hobby of mine to scoop up junk I find in the field. About two weeks ago I started collecting spent shotgun shells just to see how many I could find. Got 54 so far,lol Keep up the the good work!

As mentioned the 740 742 which I own one and the 7400 were not inherently accurate rifles. Mine is a 30-06 and gets about the same accuracy. Personally I have shot quite a few deer with it and was never to worried about about a 3 inch group at 100 yards. That is dead deer all day long. If I were trying to build a bench or a long range rifle, this is not the rifle I would start with. They are very meticulous about being clean for sure. I kept mine as it is as it was an inheritance from an Uncle. Just my opinion, but I would accept its limitations and have fun with it.

Sometimes in life it is about the hunt, not the game in the bag. Maybe he'll get it shooting to his expectations, maybe not but if he does, the satisfaction will be worth the effort.

I've given up hope on Remington and the Freedom Group. Sadly, I bought and installed a Timney trigger. I'm done sending them my guns for their screw ups.

It was a serious issue to be sure. I should have mentioned that it was about 10 minutes of "Holy Crap" "That's so sad" "Don't cry honey" before I reverted to levity. I'm not that insensitive, I just didn't want this horrific incident to spoil the whole trip.
