I finally got my buddy to see the whole show last Sunday. Tom's were sounding off on roost. Seven hens flew down into the dekes. Hens feeding a couple of yards from us in the blind. Told him not to even blink an eye. Hens looking into the blind at us but my bud is a good listener. He never twitched a muscle. A 5" bearded hen is looking at him square into his eyes. A few minutes later he whispers to me that he can see a white head slowly making its way to us, the dekes and live hens that are all around us. Now the Tom is listening to soft purrs from my slate. The old long beard is getting closer. He slowly struts and saunters to the only jake deke and challenges him. This goes on for 10 minutes but feels like hours. I tell my pal to ever so slowly raise his Remington shotgun loaded with 3" copper plated 4 shot. Then I tell him to wait until I give the Tom a little cluck so he breaks out of his strut and raises his head. BANG! The big old Tom didn't even twitch a feather. I never saw a guy that excited after the shot before. What a great morning! 9" beard, 1 3/8 spurs & 25 lbs.17 points

My other buddy called yesterday and said he was bailing on me because it was going to rain. Well, I've had my most memorable turkey hunts in the rain. Turkeys love feeding in green fields during a light rain. I was going to guide myself this morning. 8 3/4" beard, 1 1/8 spurs about 20 lbs15 points

Spent Monday out on Lake Ontario with Hooked Up Charters. Rough and windy and cold but still a blast. Spent yesterday smoking the catch (at least most of it) and, wow! Did it turn out great! Lake trout, Browns and Chinook salmon.5 points

Damned starlings and grackles are raiding the mealworms and suet cakes in our backyard birdfeeders. I finally got my Leupold VX Freedom 3-9×33 EFR scope mounted and zeroed for pesting duty. With the regulator set at 2600psi I'm getting 1040fps with the Crosman Premier HPs and 800fps with FX Hybrid Slugs. The distance is 19yds for the closet, 21yds for the farthest. I'm all set up on the back porch picnic bench. Here is 19yds with 5 of the Crosman pellets. 14.3gr at 1040fps 5 shots at 21Yds with the same pellets. Finally, 5 of the Crosman premiers and 5 of the FX Hybrid slugs, same POA. Basically the same POI for both projectiles. The FX Hybrid slugs are 22gr at 800fps.4 points

We were sitting in the woods . Nothing going on . Then we hear 2 gobblers I a field so we make a.move on them as we move up one bird flew away . The other was out about mid field . Bill hit the call and he did an about face and started coming right back to us so fast I didn't have time to get in position I had a tree laying sideways in front of me with an arch in it not very big didnt have time to get to it so I had to try to shoot threw it well long story short I missed . So we went up to the top of the hill were he flew and we sat and I looked over and saw the morels . And was like wow . First time I ever found them didn't even know they grew here . Then heard another bird tried to put the move on thT one but it started to rain .3 points

Found morels the last 6 days. This is best year I've had since 2012. Anyone else experiencing similar?3 points

I finally got all the busted blocks piled inside the 12 ft diameter fire pit. That made for a good workout, better than the stationary bike. If we would only get a few days without rain, I could haul some dirt up with my loader tractor and finish it off. I am working on the barn dismantling now, pulling the upper siding boards off, up in the hay loft. That made a nice vantage point for an aerial shot of the big new fire pit:3 points

Only thing I am waiting on are the 2 CARM magazine that are enroute from Croatia. As is so far; Wood stocked Air Venturi Avenger Leupold 3-9×33 EFR scope with standard fine duplex. (I like things simple) Burris Rimfire/air rifle tactical signature rings. Burris Posi-align ring inserts (+.020" rear, – .020" front 36 MOA offset) Tourbon adjustable comb riser with slip-on neoprene cover, 1/2" riser block insert TKO .22 Stage V 1" moderator Browning "Barbed Wire" sling on quick detach sling swivels. Support accessories; Yong Heng 4500psi compressor 60 min SCBA tank Air Venturi Air Tank Carrier With Tank Stand & Protective Netting 8mm dual male foster coupling Fafeims CGA347 Paintball Fill Station PCP SCBA Charging Connector Adapter All told, I blew at least $1400 but the rifle likes the readily available Crosman Premiere HP so I can shoot all day with little cash outlay. I will probably remove the front Picatinny mount bas I do not foresee mounting a bipod. That will require making the fore-end into a semi Schnabel like an O/U shotgun. Also do an adjustable comb to eliminate the foam cheek riser. That, of course, will require a complete refinish of the wood stock. Time to make the blonde look more like an auburn redhead.3 points

Update: I sat in blind again. heard nothing. Legal shooting 513am so I waited for 520am and called. Before I could finish 3rd strike a Tom long gobbled to my left, so where I came from. I put call down. He gobbled every minute or so, then every 30 seconds or so. This went on for like 20min. Then mayhem broke loose. I herd a hen for first time. Or another hunter? It was like 20-25 yelps in a row. The Tom kept gobbling but the hen or hunter wouldn’t stop. Then another Tom gobbled off in the distance. Nothing since 545am. I just tried calling again at 6. No response. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro3 points

Had an amazing evening at Honeoye today! 21 bass for me, with only 3 or 4 below 2 lbs, and 14 for my buddy with only a few under 2 for him. Multiple 3-4 lb fish. The bite was on big time. We were catching so many so fast we did t have much time for pics, but here are a few of my better ones.3 points

Had a good day on Conesus today with one of my buddys. It rained on us all day and the fishing was a bit slow, but we still did all right. Caught a few pike and a few smaller bass that we didn’t take pics of.2 points

I hope this old hay fork doesn't get busted up too bad when I pull the barn frame down. I fondly remember using it to unload wagons of loose hay when was a little kid. As soon as I reached my teens, my grandad bought a baler. handling those bales sucked compared to the loose hay. Those little square bales were nothing compared to these concrete silo blocks though.2 points

When the lockdowns first hit, we absolutely needed some relief. Had the govt chosen to only protect the vulnerable, and spend whatever was needed to protect only the vulnerable, the rest of us could've gone on living our lives normally. Plus, the cost to taxpayers of dealing with the virus would have been far less. Why did the govt not choose that route? Because it was all about getting Trump out of office, stopping the greatest economic upturn in history, and expanding the power of the federal govt. The left has been known to preach, "Never let a crises go to waste." They milked this crises for all it was worth and are still trying to squeeze every drop of milk they can get out of it at taxpayer expense. The worst part about this whole crises is, there is plenty of evidence to prove this was not an accidental crises. It was an intentional one. But the power of the govt, and all of the corrupted officials in it, along with their sycophantic main stream media lapdogs, will continue to cover it all up and lie forever, to prevent the truth from ever being told.2 points

That's a big old red oak. Roughly 25 years ago I cut down a monster white oak. After taking a 10' log from the base, I ended up with 35 face cord(close to 12 full cord) of firewood.2 points

6 hrs.....yes 6 hrs. I've had camps in the Catskills in the late 80's but sold. Finger lakes is a wonderful area to hunt fish and entertain guests at your house. 10 years ago it would be nothing for me to drive up on a Friday night get in at 3 am cath a few winks then go out muzzleload for the day. Leave Sunday afternoon. I JUST LOVE IT!2 points

Hunted 4P and 4R mostly on DEP land Saturday, Sunday and Monday. I got two gobblers going but real hens showed up and stole them away. I think numbers are down based on field sightings and what I heard in the woods. Only heard one shot. Some might remember last year two of my nephews scored while I was stuck sick in Florida. One scored again this year on DEP land.2 points

Total score since yesterday evening, 5 starlings and 2 of those unidentifiable birds we won't mention.1 point

I haven't got my mom a gift yet, but I just thought up a perfect one. I should have an hour or so to kill (litteraly), prior to church on Sunday. My wife and kids were not crazy about it, the last time I brought home a shot-up wild turkey. Something about the blood and guts turned them off I guess. Maybe I can kill a tom for mom, on Mothers day morning behind her house, with the little .410 that grandpa bought for her when she was a little girl. Wouldn't that be a "special" gift ? I will remove the breast and hand it to her in a zip lock bag. Tentatively, I am planning on fishing Saturday morning (maybe she will also get a fresh lake Erie walleye). I am going to at least give turkey hunting one more shot on Sunday. We gave my nephew permission to turkey hunt our place, so I dont want to horn in on his action at home. He did a great job on the concrete work in my new pole barn. I might get one last shot at spring turkeys, up in the Adirondacks, when we visit the in-laws on Memorial day weekend.1 point

So how did all of this crap come to be? What caused it? If you think it was the Chinese virus, think again. It was the way our government chose to deal with the virus. Anything the government gets involved in gets ruined. And it continues to cause mayhem in the market right now with it's totalitarian mandates. Yet the people who are in elected positions that are responsible for this mayhem will be re-elected. Don't agree? Explain Cuomo. If the elections have not become fraudulent and controlled by the people already in power, the electorate can look in the mirror and see who they should blame for our country's current woes. If we continue to allow the government to control massive amounts of our economy, we can continue to expect crises after crises, and higher costs for everything. People better start educating themselves about situational awareness.1 point
