Moving these atlas stones (ranging from 185-340lbs each) out of my basement up stairs just topped my list. 185lber wasn’t bad but the 340lber SUCKED! As my brother said, I may not be as good as I once was but am as good as ever once! Where was @blackbeltbillwhen I needed him! I need some Aleve. Glad that’s over. Lol8 points

Yesterday we took a ride over to the property that we are interested in. It actually exceeded our expectations. We are going to meet with a builder to discuss plans on a basic cabin on this property. We will see just how asinine of a price that is given. No rush, but doing homework basically…today was 55 degrees, and the 3’ of snow is melting fast. The snowmobiles are badass, and sound incredible ripping fast on the lake. Today we took a long ride looking at other properties, and none stuck out like yesterday’s did. Feels good to make the long ride just to per-sue a dream, truly life changing events occurring for us. We were just a few miles from Quebec at one point, and it was cool to see U.S. Border Patrol trucks. Some of the landscape looked like paintings today. The owners of our rental live on Long Island, NY, pretty cool.8 points

Does anyone here collect knives? I've been getting into it lately. Mostly collecting Pumas and Bucks. It's fun to find them at sales and antique stores.7 points

Finished processing just under 300 gallons of sap this evening …ended up with 7.25 gallons of syrup. Lots of work carrying sap through the woods in the mud…at least I had a little help from my mom…although she wasn’t too keen on rappelling down the hill to get sap. With the warm weather forecasted, this might be it for the season in my neck of the woods (5.125 gallons on boil number one and 7.25 gallons today). I typically get three boils a season but it was a bit more challenging without my sugar shack and I was light on equipment. Looking forward to some bacon syrup on French toast in the morning!5 points

Simmered for a good 5 or so hours, cirned beef is fork shreddable, the way we like it. Made Rueben quesadilla’s with it, sauerkraut, shredded corned beef, swiss, and dressing inside.4 points

I couldn’t let a maple syrup season go by without doing some sugaring! I managed to scrape enough equipment together so I could tap some trees. It felt good to be in the woods feeding the fire with wood and my pan with sap, although not so good when I turned around to see the burnt remains of my Bone Creek Sugar Shack. Life goes on and it’s much too short to be lamenting about things gone bad (still planning Bone Creek II).4 points

After 11 months I would like to introduce my truck!!! lol I love it. They actually did away with deep shadow gray for 2022. I love the color looks blue at sometimes. Inside is so roomy the back is perfect (shorter cab longer bed). Love the side steps and Tonneau cover they put on., Trifold looks good. I wrote a check for 50,199.00. For the truck. They threw in the extended warrantee also. I thought it was a good deal after the wait. I'm happy.2 points

If you're not feeling adventurous, give it to the dogs. Cow heart can be tricky. I made jerky with a few of them once, it was fine for two days, then it got really moldy even in the fridge.2 points

Fifty years ago I had the hope of starting spring gobbler season in Florida and hunting my way north as the seasons opened.. Never happened due to family issues, the need to earn a living and other life issues... However I did manage over a period of time to hunt Georgia, Kentucky, Virginia, PA, NY, Maine, and Ontario Canada.. I killed gobblers in every location except Georgia....2 points

Wow, that's impressive! Moog's like the only hunter in North America that could just throw a rope around an Elk or Moose's head and drag them back to camp! He don't need to butcher them out in the field.2 points

I'm with ya on that!!! Paul, those gobblers roaming the ridges out there, should start getting their affairs in order!2 points

I plan to put out a few . My father and I are going out with my son the first weekend available . We'll head down there Friday and put up the ground which ever camera tells us has activity ,if any. If it was just myself going I wouldn't bother . I'm trying what I can to maximize the experience for my son if possible. He won't know if I'm using cams or not ,he's 6.2 points

A conspiracy for sure, but WHAT IF, this green push is just like the gun control push. A way to control the citizens. As long as fuel is available it would be impossible to limit fuel purchases. (as long as you have the money) There isn't anything stopping me from having my garage filled with 55 gallon drums of gasoline. But we can't store energy. At least not right now. If there is an uprising by citizens, it would be pretty easy too turn off the power grid or limit power. Now I'm not saying this is what the push is for......but what else makes sense? It is obvious to anyone that can think for themselves that we are not ready for green energy. We don't have a grid that can handle everyone driving an electric car. The windmills installed out on Tug Hill have already used more than half their useful life and over the span of their live have operated at 24% efficiency. There isn't anything green about mining for lithium and all the other raw materials needed. I have always said, just follow the money but what if it is much more sinister than that? Everything the Dems do is about control of the citizens. They know what is best for us....2 points

There's another I built, but it's in a case, and it doesn't come out. I've also built and sold about 30 including some Kepharts and Enzo Trappers. The bottom knife on the left is the knife I built for my wife, she wanted pink liners and I talked into red. The very bottom is a Becker BK16 I stripped the coating from and I put custom scales, liners and pins on.2 points

Its a hobby like any other, its not always measured on a return of investment. Ive raised beef/pigs/chickens, done maple syrup on a serious scale, restored old tractors, owned no less then 200 rifles most never killed anything but paper, learned to weld, and hunted a fair bit all over the place. In the last month bought 2 fun cars, one old to mess with and one new so i can just drive it. Dont care if how much time ive spent on any of it, its not the point.2 points

Mild day here. 29 degrees, and overcast, but slowly becoming partly cloudy. Very smooth, and quiet ride up yesterday. We left right from work at 4pm. We zoomed up the Thruway to hit I-90 Mass Pike, shot across to Worcestor, and up. We saw a tom of troopers, and deer. I was surprised that there was ZERO snow until about 37 mies south of here. It has been mild here for the last week I was told, like at home. I had more snow at home, than 85% of the ride here. Anyways, the sun is peaking out as I type this, long day yesterday so we are having a lazy morning, but will be out checking some properties later. Should have some nice pics to share this evening.2 points

That one ended up so big I could pick it up and put it in my lap but never could shoulder it. Too big around. The other 3 range from 185-285 and I would shoulder those for training. I bought a mold for those and added weight to get them where I wanted total weight wise.1 point

Just my 2 cents you think they are pushing green because there is no money in it for themselfs as well ? The only difference oil gas works right . Green Technologies haven't been perfected yet and may never be perfected, who knows. I know a guy working for company thats building windmills off the coast of Hong Kong and he even said it's inefficient and doesn't really work right but all he knows is it is paying his mortgage on his house so he doesn't care. Said the only thing green that actually works but the green people don't like that either is nuclear power.1 point

Yes, all “8’s” hanging over our bar: 8 point buck, 48 lb coyote, 48” musky (they only had to be 44” to keep in the upper Niagara river then, now it’s 54”, but that was the longest I have ever caught), 38” northern pike, and 28” walleye. I killed them all, but only ate the buck. I wonder if taxidermists eat any of the fish that they mount ? I caught the pike and walleye by accident, while bass fishing. The musky was intentional, after we broke off 3 smaller ones on one of my favorite drifts, while trying for bass. I finally landed a 36 incher (on a 1/4 oz bucktail jig and 8 lb fluorocarbon line that was doubled up for the last foot). After landing that one, I switched to my heaviest rod , which was loaded with 14 lb test mono. I doubled up the last foot and tied on a 1/2 oz weedless, rubber-skirted bass jig, with a big rubber lizard trailer attached. The 48 incher hit that on our next drift. The muskies were on fire on the river like I have never seen, on that mid-summer weekday afternoon, about 20 years ago. I have caught at least one a year out there by accident every year since then and at least 10 years before, up until last year, when we didn’t land any. I suppose most of them have got weakened and swept over the falls by now, after having slime rubbed off of them by folks taking pictures and such. I try to handle them gently and release them unharmed, but I don’t particularly care for them. They are very stinky, but my biggest problem with them is what they do to the bass. One time, one came up and pulled a nice smallmouth off my line, while I was fishing in a bass tournament. I think they hit the bass pretty hard, based on my own personal observations.1 point
