Nice double lung shot. Went about seventy yards. Seven pointer.

Hey, i follow and read every post and have for 3 years now, only posted a few time. Yesterday was one of my best all time bow days ever. Got nin stand a 5AM and didnt see anything most the day. A lone doe at 8:30 AM, then a lone 4 PT at 2:30 PM. At 4PM i was thinking as you often do, am i going to go another all day sit this time of year and really only see what i noted above? I was in one of my sitting stretches at 4PM and look behind me, 8 does coming at me single file. Well they literally stayed under me 15 minutes and finally walked off back the way they came. I contemplated after that as it had been a long day, then my common sense kicked in and i said to myself, you idiot, still till legal time. I stand up, get my crossbow in hand, catch movement behind me sand look over my shoulder and this guy comes right down the lane the does were on. What a day, what a feeling!

About a 100 lb doe. Went 50 yds, heard her crash. Disconnected the main pump from the manifold.

Had a nice , I think seven cruise by. I rattled at him when he went out of sight and here he comes. I grunted at him and he looked my way, made a rub and a scrape and came right in. He did not get a pass. Pics to come!

That doe I shot yesterday afternoon was in front of one of my trail cameras. I didn’t have a card to swap last night so I went out midday today and changed it. Was lucky enough to get a pic right as I shot her. The stand I was in is in the upper right of the pic. She’s kicking her legs back and you can see the hair blowing off of the opposite side. What a lucky shot!

Total of 8 bucks seen today. Two closest were five yards from my ground blind. But none were shooters for me. Lots of cruising and chasing. Got to see a couple bucks fighting, and watched another go to town making a rub. Great day in the woods!

Just getting ready to head in to where I saw all the small bucks yesterday. Hopefully one of their daddies will show up this morning? 24 degrees and calm now. Cranked my hunting theme song November Rain on the way up this morning. That has worked before! grampy is going in HOT !

Finished another few courses on the sugar shack wall...brought my hunting gear with me and paddled my canoe up the creek to my ground blind... hopefully a different outcome from this morning’s hunt (I.e., that I see a deer)!

11/14 #1 Luna and I tracked a big buck this morning that had been shot at 200 yards with a .243 yesterday morning. I didn’t like the sound of that as soon as I heard it. The hunter jumped the buck out of a bed about 45 minutes later, then tracked it for 600 yards on light sporadic blood. When unable to find any more blood, 4 people did a 2 hour grid search. I wasn’t convinced we were tracking a fatally hit deer, but we did our best to make that determination. After 3.2 miles of following trails and making circles around the grid searched area and seeing no further sign we pulled the plug. #2 Kunox and I tracked doe that had been gut shot yesterday afternoon. The hunter had tracked until he saw watery blood and recognized that meant gut shot, so he marked it and backed out. Kunox made short work of this 600 yard track, unfortunately the coyotes had picked her clean. #3 Luna was rested up enough for the third track, so she got the nod. This 4 pointer had been shot yesterday afternoon, twice. The second shot had knocked him down, but he got up a few minutes later and ran off. Uh oh, sounds like a high back hit. The hunter and his friend did everything right on this track. They had ribbon with them and marked blood as they went. They also were smart and backed right out when the blood trail ended. Trackers love these kind of hunters! Once passed the hunters point of loss we never saw any blood, just one small clump of hair. The buck was still alive when we found him at 860 yards and I dispatched him.

complicated answer you cant trash the whole economy with lockdowns for something that's only going to effect a small percent of the population . Use a good mask and keep your distance if you are in that group that's all .

2020 needed a positive boost... and oh man did we get one on Friday. We were blessed (and surprised) with a healthy son. Thank God we don’t live far from the hospital and I can drive fast, because we had about 10 minutes to spare. We got home last night and celebrated with some Next Door Sushi, since that’s my wife’s favorite and it’s a no-no during pregnancy. Big sister just met her brother and she’s pumped. I’m not sure what little JohnPlav will mean for this hunting season... but I know I have a new hunting partner for seasons to come!

Wow! 2020 was a strange season for me. Had lots of bucks on camera, and not much time to hunt. We had a baby due on Halloween, so I really wanted to get something before that. No such luck. My son was born on Nov 6, right when the bucks started cruising during daylight hours. I’ve been able to sneak out for short 1-2 hour hunts over the past week, and this morning it worked out. About an hour into the hunt I heard leaves crunching, and I suspected squirrel, but then they really started sounding like footsteps. I first saw him come out of a treeline about 60 yards away, and he ran to within 30 yards and stopped in front of me. He was undecided on which way to go and was moving too much to present a good shot. Finally he started walking a bit closer and when he was behind a tree I shifted in my stand and took the safety off the crossbow. Once he stopped slightly quartered-to at 25 yards I took the shot. He kicked his back legs up so high he almost flipped over and sprinted over the ridge, then the noise stopped. I waited for my hunting partner to come over and we checked the arrow and saw great blood. We also saw the buck laying down, facing away from us, with his head up. As we devised a plan to sneak around and shoot him again, his head dropped down and he was done. I hit a little bit further back than I intended, but the Rage extreme 4 blade ripped open one lung and just about cut his liver in half. He’s a 9 point that weighed 205 lbs and is my best deer yet. Lots of meat in the freezer, more time freed up to spend with the kids, and even a little something for the wall. 2020 needs every bright spot it can get!

Deer, NOT fish.......... The buck I shot with the bow was a heavy horned, heavy bodied specimen. I asked the taxidermist to please save the jaw because I've always been curious about the age of the deer I shoot. This buck APPEARS to be quite old as seen in the attached pictures. I've got other lower jaws from bigger bucks I've killed and this one is considerably different. Today I ordered the deer aging kit from deerage.com and will be sending in the (I believe) front lower mandible. It'll take 90 days to get the results but I will update when I find something out. Thoughts or WAG are welcome......

Soldiers sign away all of their Constitutional rights when they join the military and must follows orders under severe penalty for non-compliance. Is that what we want the US to do to it's citizens today? I doubt those soldiers would be happy knowing they died for our freedom and people today so willingly let the government take those freedoms away. The Constitution does not give the government any authority to do any of the things it is demanding people do at this time. Some will comply, some will not. They have every right not to. The government is not considered to be very good at solving problems, yet some people think it is the solution to all our problems. And if you think the problems the government creates are bad, just wait until you see their "solutions".

I’m in my stand, was out most of the day yesterday. Sitting for a bear, or yote. Just want to be out here, and see what there is to see. warmer than I expected, 35 degrees, no wind, very quiet, sun trying to poke out, had a quick sprinkle of sleet.

Tell me who went to jail because of the "Russian Collusion" issue and what they were charged with. Here's a clue. Nobody was ever charged with anything related to collusion. They were charged with things that were uncovered during the investigation that had NOTHING to do with the collusion myth. The Soviets had a saying, "You show me the man, and I will show you the crime." In America we are supposed to start an investigation after a crime is committed. This was an investigation looking for crimes. And when they found something on somebody, they told them to lie for the prosecution or go to jail. Welcome to Amerika comrade. I'm glad to know people in this land support such communist activity. BTW, the one man they could not find committed any crimes, was Donald Trump.

My son had this buck 50 yards last night and could not get a shot,,, tonight he went to the field stand and the same buck came out the corner and limped across the field and laid down 100 yards in front of him,, he texted me as he didn't know what to do or of he should get down,, I walked out to the field and he got up and limped his way across the field he is definitely hurt.. I got within 70 yards from him and he was in no hurry to leave,, not sure if someone made a bad shot on him or he was hit by a car or in a fight with another buck,, hope my son gets a crack at him and he is not mortally wounded.. PS camera is a hour off haven't reset the time

Sometimes I wish time travel was possible. I never would have asked that one crazy girl out freshman year in college and my car wouldn't have gotten keyed. I would have told myself I didn't need that last shot of jaeger. I would have avoided Tijuana altogether. And I would have told myself at 730 am that all the action for the day was done and you can go home back to bed. In oh dark thirty this am over sign I found yesterday. Pushed one on the walk in. Movement in the brush in the dark. Had a few does as legal approached slowly meandering. Saw a body making its way towards me in the cover. Either it caught my scent (doubtful given wind) or the coyote that unbeknownst to me was approaching spooked it and it bounded off. Was either a big doe or a buck, never saw its head. That was entertaining. 4 deer come hauling through the woods, followed by a doe with a little spike horn chasing her. They go round and round for about 10 minutes with his ding ding hanging out, he keeps trying to mount her but can't reach, she's too tall! Eventually she stops in a hole facing down hill and he gets it done. @Pygmy the spike horn! I also learned that Tinks is 100% useless. After that, right around 445 another spike comes in, following their trail. He walked within 10 feet of both scent wicks, never even glanced at them. Stayed right in their scent trail.

Update... his name is John Michael and he’ll go by “Jack” just like his grandfather and 93 year old great-grandfather. We didn’t know the gender so that’s the surprise. Labor escalated really fast, and even though Im sure I could’ve delivered on the side of the road... I’m extremely happy I didn’t have to. Mom is a champ and is doing great. All the staff at Highland were amazing, and we only had to stay there 24 hours. I work at Strong Hospital and it’s always a strange feeling being on the patient end of things. I couldn’t be more happy and proud. This little guy better be a hunter, because he’s now heir to 2 nice properties and enough guns to arm a small country. Thanks for all the positive thoughts! Now GO BILLS and go kill some deer for me!!
