  2. I figured I would get something that the current powers that be wouldn’t want me to get with part of my gubbement stimulus. So I headed off to Runnings to see what they had in stock, if anything, and they didn’t disappoint. They had just what I have been looking for, a Springfield Hellcat 9mm. It’s a great pistol for CC, nice and small, thin, light weight and plenty of capacity at 10+1. I grabbed some extra mags, and was able to get a box of target loads and a small box of Critical Defence as well. I ordered a very nice IWB holster for it, which is supposed to be here Monday.

  3. Lost power here at noon today. I got home from work a little while ago and got the generator going. That is the time when I say every power failure that I really have to get a damn transfer switch installed. I just run a few extension cords to the important stuff. You know, satellite tv and WiFi, lol. Wife has been working from home and had to knock off at noon on a Friday - bummer, eh? It’s been out for 8 hrs now, that’s a long time for a localized outage. Oh well, we’ll make it fun and get the wood stove going if it gets too chilly. Fridge is plugged in and the beer is cold!

  4. This day and age ,what is it that the Democrats have to offer the working middle class ?all they care about now is idolizing criminals, taxing us more ,worrying about special interest groups ,and destroying this country ,like we have seen since the current joke of a presidency has entered in .Old folks need to understand, this ain’t the Democrats of the 70s

  6. I noticed that our creek was up pretty high this morning. After spending 5 days out on the West coast last week, helping to get a much larger vessel ready, I finally got a chance to try out my own little $ 100, 12 footer. I poured a little fresh 40:1 chainsaw gas into the old merc K-5. She ran pretty good, after a carb adjustment. The creek water level was dropping fast and I had to get the boat up on plane and make 3 attempts to get over a sandbar, formed by the drain tile from my pole barn. I noticed about a gallon of water in the stern, after a half hour in the creek. The source of the leak was a loose fitting drain plug, so it should be a cheap fix. I was impressed with the stability of this wide beam Sears Gamefisher, compared to the narrow beam one that I keep up at my in-laws place. I got to remember to bring home a pair of oars, next time I go up there. After I get those, a new plug, and a DMV registration, It will be ready for Hemlock lake.

  9. You bring up some great points. I’ll start by saying that carrying a weapon daily is a very personal choice. It’s not for everyone and shouldn’t be taken lightly. If you’re going to carry concealed I can’t recommend getting formal training enough! Good training isn’t cheap but is worth every penny. I’m certified to teach multiple nra pistol courses as well as concealed carry classes in a few states. I also did 4 combat deployments as an infantryman. I carry all day everyday except at work. Although I’ve never been in a mass shooting scenario I feel I have a pretty good guess as to how I will react. Personally I’m not a hero and have no plans on ever being one. I carry for me and mine’s safety not for anyone else’s. If I’m ever in such a scenario I’m getting the hell out of dodge. That will not always be possible and if I need to I will defend myself but only if I’m/mine are in immediate danger. I will never go looking for bad guy/guys “if everyone involved that was carrying had this mindset other armed citizens as well as the police would have nothing to worry about as far as friendly fire.” If others cared about their lives and the lives of their families the way I do they would also have the training and the means of protecting themselves that’s not my problem or responsibility to protect them. Onto the identifying bad guy bit proper training will help. There is identifiers for bad guys, as well as simple control and staying calm will help as well. Shoot no shoot drills carry over very well in the real world. This type of training has gotten very good real world feedback in the last 15 years do to the current conflicts our military is in where we are fighting enemies that don’t wear a uniform. 13. So glad the house we bought 7 years ago came with a whole home generator. We actually lost power yesterday due to a car accident taking out a power pole. House went dark for 10 seconds until the generator kicked itself on and ran for 5.5 hours until they installed a new pole and got the power back on and running. The generator kicked itself off as soon as it happened. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Only if the weak follow. The safe act was a perfect example of the lack of cooperation of gun owning Americans. Less than 20,000 of the estimated 5-10million “assault rifles” were registered when it became mandatory in New York. Don’t think for a minute the left wasn’t paying attention to that on a National scale. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. Deflecting. You come on a hunting forum, probably 99% members are gun owners, trying to convince us gun control is a good idea and that the current government has no intention on taking our rights away, even as they actively & publicly telling us that is exactly what they plan to do. That's not how this works.

  17. I think a reasonable gun control law would stipulate the penalty of death by hanging or electrocution to anyone who commits a crime with a gun. Such a law would be aimed at the criminals, rather than law abiding folks, like all those currently being suggested by the Democrats are. It would also limit the burden on law abiding folks for feeding and housing the criminals who are found guilty. It really boggles my mind why anyone would believe that a criminal would abide by a law. How can folks be that ignorant?

  22. I'm all for a background check ONCE! I will agree to allow authorities to look at my record ONCE! Once I have proven to be a responsible, law abiding citizen, that presents absolutely no danger to anyone, I get a firearms I.D. card that proves to an FFL I'm clean and allows me to buy ANY legal firearm immediately, no secondary NICS checks and no waiting. If I ever violate any law that would require me to turn in my firearms I.D. card and my guns, I would have to do so, and a Judge would be required to take my firearm's I.D. from me when due process proved it in court. No more NICS checks, check fees or waiting with every transaction. That type of redundancy is bureaucratic nonsense and just designed to make money for the state. If someone is checked thoroughly and completely and proves they have never been violent in any way and not a felon, they should not be subjected to govt scrutiny again unless there is probable cause to do so. What guns would be considered legal for me to own, is an entirely different matter and a subject all to itself.

  28. I believe , civilians should be able to,own the same weapons as the average military ground pounder , ie the same long and hand guns , I draw the line at crew weapons . Im all for giving offenders of first offense, non violent crime , a second chance , public service, fines, restitution and so on. First offense violent crime ,would be a case by case basis, but you’ll see some jail time , second offense well you wouldn’t want to appear be for me ...

  30. Because the problem is not "GUNS" and Banning Guns, the problem is no enforcement of the many gun laws already on the books. Banning AR rifles will not do one thing when it comes to crime! There were 20 illegal gun violations arrests in Syracuse recently all offenders were released and four of the same offenders were picked up for gun offenses again. The laws are a joke! And as for me I will be harsh, it is so called sportsmen like you that are the problem going along with the Democrats! Al

  31. My belief is that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed is pretty clear to me. The way i read it, any gun law is unconstitutional. The 2nd amendment doesn't say you have the right to own a hunting rifle or a shotgun. It was meant to allow us too defend ourselves from the government. So the way i read the 2nd amendment. I should have access to any weapon the military does. Now just because i believe that is what the 2nd amendment says. Doesn't mean i think that should happen. I really don't have an issue with background checks. Now a psych evaluation is leading down a slippery slope to me. Who decides if i am worthy? The Government does.....So if they look at my posts on here and see i am a conservative does that disqualify me? What is disqualifying? Is taking an anti anxiety med or anti depression med make you disqualified? Unless you are a criminal, you have the right to bear arms. This latest shooting, they guy was on the FBI watch list of some sort. Why wasn't that a red flag in the NICS check? Seems like a pretty easy thing to fix to me....

  34. Power came on overnight as expected, never got too cold. I put some laundry in a little while ago and I must have had a surge take out the heating element in the dryer. It worked fine yesterday. It’s maybe 6-7 yrs old so off to buy a dryer later today. If I was going to spend $600+ on something today I would have rather squandered it on a new gun!

  37. Yeah it's a bit frustrating when people want to argue with you and tell you your a problem when they can't understand for some reason we actually agree on about everything. I guess reading a full post is too much these days. When in reality all I proposed is that people think differently than them and stating that I DON'T agree with those people MULTIPLE times but I try to understand where they come from and yet somehow it is me??? Lol. Anyway gone from this section yet again. Maybe to return another day. But not soon. I really should know better by now, so no one to blame but myself. Back to hunting, fishing and dinner threads for me.

  40. No. An automobile is a tool, just like a firearm is a tool. You don't use it and it doesn't do anything. The person that uses it is the catalyst that makes it deadly or not. Plain Automobile accidents kill over 40,000 people a year. Add the other unintentional and intentioned deaths caused by automobiles and your around 100,000+ deaths. Does the inconvenience of not using an automobile to get somewhere quicker than riding a bicycle or walking constitute the Death toll caused by automobiles ? It seems so. We need to focus on the person, not the tool.
