  1. Usually don't get fishers from this part of the property. Looks to be a healthy specimen. I think they are cool critters. My partner trapped this one back in October when the season was open for them. Seem to have a good population of them locally.

  3. I got a wild hair to build a new saddle mount for holding firearms that dont have MLok and Keymod Handrails, AKA Standard hunting rifles etc.. And still sit on a ball head or Leveling Base of a Tripod of some sort to have full range of motion.. The Arca on this application is bolt on. The next one I will make will be machined directly into it, as one piece. I just need to find somewhere that can black anodize if they aren't to expensive

  4. This is my place built in 2007. Size is 20x24 plus the porch. 5 years ago I added a big extension off the left side with a full basement. The original cabin has 1 bedroom, loft, eat in kitchen, bathroom and small sitting area. As you see it this was built by a Mennonite Crew. It also included grading and a stone driveway. House is built on pilings. Back then this cost $15,000. I finished the inside with my brother.

  6. Wow thats sucks. I'm thinking about hot water on demand. I also have temp baseboard heat. That will become permanent when I get up there. I have a propane stove in the cabin and a wood stove in the addition. This is the addition to the cabin the way it is now. Full basement underneath.

  7. Not to derail this topic. When i was a kid, probably around 12 years old i was playing basketball with my Dad. I don't remember why but he but bet me 20 bucks that he could make this impossible shot. I said sure and he proceeded to make it. This was a distance that he had to throw the ball overhand with one hand just to reach the basket. I couldn't believe he made it and i was really upset that i lost 20 bucks. Thankfully he gave me an out and offered me double or nothing. Problem was, he sunk it again. I was 12 years old in the year 1985 and owed my Dad 40 Bucks. He made me pay it. That was more than half the money i had saved for a new bike. It was also probably the best life lesson i was ever taught. There is no such thing as a sure bet. BTW, i would take that bet again.....No way he would make it!

  9. The bottom line is, we need to get back to normal life. If the vaccine and boosters are the best choice for you, go and get them. If wearing a mask makes you feel more comfortable, then by all means, wear one. But these mandates are ridiculous and i have been over them since the two weeks to stop the spread almost 2 years ago... Let people work, let people travel, let people go shopping etc.... And lets get to the bottom of the story with what happened with this virus so we can make sure it never happens again. Funny how we don't hear a word about that anymore....

  10. I'm getting a pup later this week, Its a beagle and I'm thinking about getting into tracking with him. Does anyone have any advice or things i should get/read? right now I've been scouring though forums and YouTube videos. He will be named Koda and my plan would be to get licensed and help other hunters in NYS if all goes good. I had a dog as a kid, but this will be MY first dog.

  15. That is true. I spend a good amount of time in Florida. And I really enjoy what’s going on down there. There are tons of people wearing masks. Tons of people not wearing masks. And everybody’s moving on with their lives happy. Nobody seems to be judging each other as far as I can tell

  17. I live in a 24x28 log cabin kit home. Cost was 28k for the structure. I put it on a slab with block walls for crawl space. I did everything myself with help from a couple buddies. Took us 8 days in total. I bought the worlds crappiest lull Telehandler and sold it when I was done for a small profit to save on Crane costs. Not counting well and sewer I finished it for just under 50k. It’s an open floor plan with 1 bedroom and bathroom down stairs and a loft master bedroom with a half bath. I’m sure the price is now doubled, I ordered mine early 2019. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. My experience was similar to First-Light. My place is 20' by 30' with a loft/sleeping area, living/dining/kitchen area and bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor. I had the shell of the cabin built by an Amish crew and finished the buildout myself. The cost for the shell build was about $20K. Additional expenses were the site prep/excavation/septic, around $20K. Well drilling cost about another $9k. Bringing power to the cabin didn't cost anything as there was a pole close enough. The buildout cost around another $10k. All of this was done in 20215/16.

  22. How can anyone wade through all that and try to make a decision on whether or not it is a good thing or a bad thing? No wonder lawmakers can never get anything done. Always have to make things more difficult and complicated than they need to be.

  24. Like it would prevent one from getting it ? Or passing it ? Oh both those claims proved untrue. So now it’s oh you’ll not get it as bad . Honestly most vaccines take 10-15 years of development and testing phases before they hit the market , so we should trust the one year one , which went from one shot to two , then a booster event few months , dude you wouldn’t buy a car made like that . Don’t worry in a few years it might drive ok … today the CDC said 75% of covid deaths had 4 or more comorbidities . So get healthy ,It’s in your hands ,no,one else.

  33. The meat is fine. Would you eat a restaurant if that's how their kitchen looked? I've butchered and ground countless deer. It's a process that includes a big ass surface, scales and cutting boards for the trim and fat (if used). Here's a pic from a few years ago. I've improved the process even more since then. Maybe there's a nice clean sterile surface out of frame? I don't know, only wolc does. You can be the judge. I added some pictures of how I do a whole turkey so you don't feel left out.

  34. What a great looking pup!! You’re in for a lot of fun! Crappyice nailed it with the book recommendation. That is the tracking “bible” and goes into great detail on training, actually tracking, etc. Here’s the best place to buy the book: https://www.born-to-track.com/book/order-info.htm I would also highly recommend you join UnitedBloodtrackers.org. It’s $25 a year and is worth every penny. The forum is jam packed with national expert trackers who love to share their knowledge and tracking stories. You can join here: https://www.unitedbloodtrackers.org/account/membership-levels/ I don’t know if there are any trackers near you. If there are, I’d recommend contacting one and ask if he/she will mentor you. Unfortunately, there was nobody near me when I started and I had a larger learning curve. Feel free to contact me directly if/when you have questions. https://www.unitedbloodtrackers.org/find-a-tracker/trackers-by-state/?state=NY Good luck…I’m sure a lot of people will be watching and supporting you and the pup!

  39. I’m in the same boat, inherited some money and we’re leasing one more year to save more towards property. I also eventually want to put a small cabin on it but will be going the rout of a RV. Now is probably not the best time to be buying one but I would think in a year or two prices will come back down . Hell all those who bought one over the pandemic may want to unload it by then.

  40. I am a big fan of double shotguns mostly because of the old school tradition and look they evoke, but they do have the advantages you listed of having two different loads to cover different situations afield. I admit I have zero experience hunting Turkeys with a double but I have used them for all other wing shooting and small game up to Fox size with good success, there is no reason why a quality double would not make a good Turkey gun. Mine are not the high end fancy jobs, they are of medium quality and will pattern as well as my dedicated Remington 870 Waterfowl-Turkey gun. Also I like double triggers over a single selective. Mine are all side by sides except for one 28 ga over and under. Al
