  1. Took family out camping over the weekend. Nice little private campground not far from home. They have a stocked, catch and release pond, so i thought it would be fun to take my youngest son fishing for bluegills and sunnies. I was telling one in when a snake jumped out of the water and latched onto the fish! It was probably 24 - 30 inches long and wouldn't let go. I've never seen anything like that before. Needless to say, no more swimming in that pond for us..

  3. Made some progress. Used my tine tiller to “bale” hay haha. Then I mowed and I’m feeling a little better. Going to spray once more maybe next week and then pray and hope for rain and a day to plant over the following 2 weeks. I’d rather get it in later then too early and have them die from lack of rain and heat. Spring plot got mowed for the second time and is looking great.

  4. My BIL used to ask me for venison. I finally told him I won't give him any as they were harvested with a gun and I know how passionate you are about banning all guns. Hasn't asked since. Ironically, couple yrs ago he took his hunting course and borrowed a rifle, but couldn't find ammo. Blamed all the Neanderthals hoarding ammo. I don't own a .308, but I let him believe I had plenty of .308. He didn't ask, lol.

  5. Well you should not have asked me to cater it if you are going to complain. I have a family to feed and then there’s those pesky regulations. that sucks.

  6. Once in a while we just have to stand back in awe of our government. The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever - to 46 million people. Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Dept. of Interior, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed the Animals." Their stated reason for the policy is because "the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves." Thus ends today's lesson with irony.

  8. not up north. When I lived in MS I had a legit one cross the path in front of me on why way to a stand I had near a pond. Guys at work said I was lucky as they're some of the nastiest and most aggressive of the poisonous snakes. Said if you run it only encourages them to chase you down. F the south, I'll take the winter and no poisonous creatures thank you.

  14. I smile every time my mower blades finds one. Have one pond I will not weed wack around once it warms up during the spring. Few times the dam things were coming after the mower. Those snakes are big and do not like me at all. Told the client he couldn't pay me enough to walk around that pond.

  15. I watched an episode of mossy oak gamekeepers about this and then also some utube videos after. I am going to try this on a couple of spots this season. I mowed this weekend, then going to wait two weeks, seed over the areas i want plotted, then mow again. They say the seed will filter down and the two weeks worth of mowing will act as a thatch and keep in the moisture. I like this plan a lot better than trying to til with the equipment we have.

  18. Wanted to do a hike that was not roads around my house so stayed close by and went to Darien state land. Pack was 63lbs, got to try out the platypus water filter system in the creek, happy with how easy and fast it is. Headed to the lake George area camping next weekend, hoping to hit up some mountain terrain. Good day in the woods.

  19. It was time for me to buy a new safe, as i was completely out of room for any new guns. I started looking a couple weeks ago for a 60+ capacity safe. I didn't want to spend $3000+, but didn't want to cheap out either. I went to my local tractor supply and checked out the cannons and a liberty that they had. The cannon looked nice, but i did some research and found that they really weren't great, plus they're imported. The liberty they had was beautiful, but it was $2800. So today i had to pick some pellets up for my smoker and went to check them out again. The liberty that was $2800 last week was marked down as a mangers special for $1400 so i bought it. It was a struggle to get it inside, as its just under 1000 lbs, but it seems to be very well made. Does anyone have any experiences with Liberty? My only concern is that its a digital lock system, which i feel could die at any time, but i have some cheaper safes that are also battery operated and haven't had any issues. What are some must haves for a big safe other than a dehumidifier? This is my first "big" safe. Its a 64 gun, but i know ill be lucky if i get half of that. My other safes are rated for around 30 guns if i remember right.

  23. I help run a Poor Mans No Till Food plot page on the Facebook.. So i thought id share here since a couple people have tried using no till broadcast methods. We did a trial last year on our no till page in planter pots, about spray on exposed seeds, and thatch covered seeds etc. People were saying they were getting terrible results with trying no till practices. And we were getting baffled on how.. As long as moisture is present now and in the future. It works in most all soils.. We learned if you put too much spray down at once, it will begin the germination process, but also sucks the gly/chemical into the new sprout and kills it.. By keeping the spray to a mist(like normal) you should be golden. Not giving the seed enough water to pop. Luckily the dead matter in no till practice covers the seed and protects them well.. People along with Jeff Sturgis say you can spray the seed and it wont effect it. Well in reality it doesnt, but if you apply too much it sure does, due to enough moisture from water chemical mix.. the seed starts doing its thing and your left with a lower germination rate.. Cell 1 Thrived Cell 2 Had basically zero germination Cell 3 Had near great germination but slightly less than cell 1 Cell 4 Had great germination like cell 1 Cell 5 had a slightly lower germination rate but plenty good for food plotting. Cell 6 as you expect grew as it should.. I cant seem to find the result photo. But kinda neat, thought id share... I know some people try to avoid using spray and with the right practices and seed blends while using these methods it can be achieved. But you have to be dedicated to the plot and results as well, and keep planting seasons rotating...

  24. Definitely a water snake! Non venomous but surely aggressive.

  25. My buddy was adamant it was a water moccasin.. saw a few more smaller ones in the same area. After googling it I think it was a northern water snake. Not venomous, but aggressive and will bite people.

  34. My wife’s best friend had rehearsal dinner at Next Door a few months ago. They were leaving for honeymoon 2 days later so they handed out all the leftovers. Staff even packed it up in takeout containers. It was great, I had lunches for a week. So I’m calling BS on the state reg.

  35. Speaking of regulations, these joints are in the City , I see a rough patch ahead on their next inspections . Hell I might point out some violations while I’m there JK…maybe . I don’t want to stuff plastic bags, but covered trays of untouched wraps should go to my neighbors ,and well a couple for me . Private party at a restaurant near Village Gate, serving stations , they announced to take home whatever you wanted . Im just trying to see if there’s an actual code on buffet style food or if I’m just being scammed ,well the whole wedding industry is a scam anyways .

  36. Yea I hate snakes too especially these water snakes.. Theyre aggressive and have kept me from swimming in several natural water sources lol. Nothing more eerie feeling than swimming and seeing one directly over your head on the sunning bank.. or swim between your legs. Nope nope nope lol

  37. The leftist ruling class pushes abortion because they want to control births. This will eventually metastasize into the Chinese policy of controlled family size, where you will be told how many children you can have and you will be forced to abort the rest. Planned Parenthood started out as a racist organization to control what it's founder, Margaret Sanger, called "human weeds". The desire for abortions by the ruling class has not changed. It's all about control.

  40. I'm undecided but given the 3 or so years I've tried to kill a bear in NY, I might book a canadian or maine trip some day to scratch the itch. If i'm honest though, my bear trips were more about an excuse to head north with the family and something to do. The idea of having a bear rug at the cabin that my great grandkids could look at someday though falls right into that romantic side of hunting we day dream about in the woods. I think like you said, most bear are killed by opportunistic deer hunters. Funny enough I've seen 2 deer in the daks during my bear hunts. 1 was a solid 8 for the area but these were early bear before deer were legal.
