I quit my 25 year union job and moved to my cabin in NY. I quit the last day of March. I loaded the Ram up and pulled in the driveway this afternoon. Off grid and ready for the challenge. I will be making a journal in another thread starting tomorrow. Am I crazy, I don't think so. Am I a little scared...you can bet on that. But I have been a woodsman all of my life and I will give this all I got.

Man what a big move it appears..........do you have a wife & kids depending on you at all?  What about other responsibilities, are they covered??

If all your ducks are in a row, GOOD LUCK & ENJOY!!!!!!

Good luck on this venture. Looking forward to reading the journal and seeing some pics.

I think crosses the mind of most hunters from time to time.

As rachunter asked, you going 100% off grid? Or do you have some amenities at your camp?

Are you going totally off the grid with no outside help electric, heating oil, ect.?
I will be setting up a solar unit, I use gas for lighting and heat along with my wood stove. Will be adding a 12v system along with the solar. I have a ton of Tea berry on the ground to eat as well as blueberries and wild strawberries....

seems fulfilling. if you can pull it off then why not. many probably have too many financial or family obligations. props to her for coming along.
I'm going to wait until I have enough to start a journal. Today with this nasty wind and snow I only got some shopping done and 3 applications in. I also have a logger that's supposed to call me.
