landtracdeerhunter
On a really cool note to start the thread; I used a shed , that was picked up in 2013 to age a buck harvested this year. Age 7+ years old. Thanks Wooly!

farmhunter
Haven't found a fresh one yet - only been on two hikes. Found a deadhead from 2018. Nice heavy 8 point

covert
Does it count if he drops them between the shot and when you start to field dress him? If so then I found my first set on the last day of rifle season. Edited January 13, 2020 by covert 7
BowmanMike
Phew, finally we got some antlers that were not attached to a skull..I like those better. I have been out on state land 5 or 6 times in the last couple of weeks and have not found any antlers. I found some nice rubs though... wooly
I had to run out and pull our blind from hunting season this afternoon, so I decided to go for a quick hike around the block before I got around to that. Spotted an old skull first and could tell the tines were pretty chewed up, but then I saw a tine sticking up beside it a few feet away and figured that had to be the broken piece. Nope.... first fresh shed antler of the year from another buck laying right next to it just as it lays in the first few pics! Felt AWESOME to get back out there and find some bone again!

DEC has some data and/or you might have some idea that approximate beam length and mass measurements are typical for your area with a given age class. antlers vary way too much though to be totally reliable though.

NFA-ADK
Taking the laws of average to score a buck by New Hampshire Data. I have a 2.5, 3.25, 3.5 and 5 inch all ADK bucks measured at the H-1(Base of the antler). Estimate the first was 2018's 6 pt to be a 2.5 year old, second 2 deer where figured to be about 3.5 and last deer was estimated over 5.5, sounds pretty close to me even if it is an estimate. Thanks dbHunterNY for showing the Data!
