Yes I would...Cool rack and will probably never be "normal"....Of course, I'd also shoot his little brother the  spike or his sister the adult doe...

The only deer I pass on are fawns, because a fawn is nearly as much work to process as a mature deer, but you get significantly less meat for your effort..

IMHO,  an adult doe or a 1.5 year old buck tastes as good as any fawn and you get 1/3 more meat...Older bucks tend to taste stronger....I have shot a few 2.5 to 3.5 year old  rutting bucks that definitely had a stronger  "musky" flavor than young bucks or any doe...

Ok, so my no fawn edict remains.

I like character in a rack. That said, Meat hunting = doe. Head hunting = bigger than what’s hanging already. I only saw one other deer with a similar rack. I will try to find the pic and post it.

Disagree 100% .

My dad would purposefully shoot fawns. He loved em. And so did I. We would mark those packages when processing.  Dad wouldn't lets us eat all the Bambi first. He wanted it to last, lol.

If everything is the same as far as time of year, quick kill, how it's processed, prepared, ECT, a fawn is definitely better eating over a 1 1/2 or older doe.

Agree 100% on the amount of meat.

After midpoint of crossbow or gun seasons yes, before that I am on the fence.  Looks like a 2 year old and meets my "3 on a side" rule, so I am leaning a bit towards yes early.

It is all about the meat for me, but killing a small buck early usually costs me some meat.  If he had a scrawny 1.5 yr body I would be leaning no early.

I has probably been a long time since pygmy tasted a 6 month deer, but I agree, they are in a class by themselves when it comes to taste.  All other age/sex deer can be made to taste the same depending on how long the carcass is aged prior to processing.  You can skip that step with the fawns.

I think I would only take the shot as a last resort to eating my buck tag .

I had a similar racked buck who after 3 years of a weak side exploded into a giant. Spike/3, then fork with kicker by 4 then a 4x5 9pt. I would personally pass at the hopes of seeing him later in life.
