Just saw this trailer. Big name with Josh Brolin. Dunno how good a movie it will be but good to see someone unafraid to make a movie about hunting.4 points

Cut avocados in half lengthwise, remove pit, brush with olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt and fresh coarse ground black pepper. Grill on flat side until nice char lines form and edges start to char, flip and leave on for around 8-10 mins, the bottom of the rind will char. Remove, fill pit hole with fresh pico and sour cream. I like A bit of hot sauce too. Enjoy!4 points

I don't think deet is effective on ticks, and even if it is, its not nearly as effective as permethrin3 points

Saw a young chuck in a little woodland clearing yesterday and started firing away with the camera. He made his way past me at about 8ft so I followed him back to a den at the base of an uprooted tree where two of his siblings also poked their heads out of separate holes. He was very curious to the slap of the shutter, but he never seemed to pay any attention to me until I snapped a stick back at the den.3 points

I can't believe I never updated this once we got back! Anyways what a great long weekend we had. The trip only took 5.5 hours with one stop in Rome NY to get in a bathroom break, stretch our legs and make lunch to eat on the road. The camp ground was beautiful, our site was right on the water with plenty of privacy from the other sites. I'm so happy we went further into the park than originally planned because we where surrounded by the mountains which is exactly what I wanted. While there we went and checked out the wild life refuge that was mentioned which was free of charge they just ask if you enjoyed yourself to think about making a donation to them which we did. The wolves and bear cubs where the highlight of the place. After that we went over to Lake Placid to have a look at some of the Olympic sites. We tried our hand at a couple of hikes but the kids are still a bit to young for that I guess. We did a very short one to Buttermilk Falls which was great but the black flies kept us from enjoying it for any length of time. We tried another trail that I am drawing a blank on but it was marked as easy and just under 2 miles round trip. We only made it 1/4 of the way in before my 4 year old was on my shoulders being carried through most of the way. As we neared the summit probably just over 3/4 of the way up my 8 year old had a little melt down because her legs where tired and the bugs where pretty bad. We took a short rest hoping we could make the summit but it wasn't happening so we turned back (a little disappointed). We also went to the Adirondack Experience which was a bit pricey but well worth the money at $52 (4 year old was free). If you ever go there dedicate a full day to be there. A lot of stuff is interactive for the kids and the history is great for the adults. They just opened up a new section this year that is state of the art I was amazed at what was in there. Other than all that we rented a row boat for the day which was the kids first experience being on any type of boat and did the usual camping things like going fishing, playing in the water, making fire's and eating smores for dessert every night. We are already thinking about booking the same camp ground for next year.3 points

Here's my #1 buck for the upcoming season. He is 7 yrs old this year. I'm hoping that a couple new secluded foodplots might draw him off the neighbor's property (his bedding area) in early October during legal shooting light. Last year: Currenty, about a week ago:2 points

Beef ribs, SLR, pork shots, and trying TF's wild turkey bites. All going on the stick burner tomorrow. Never smoked beef ribs, so I'm hoping they come out ok. There not huge, and little fat, so not too confident.1 point

i have never seen a tick on my property or on any deer we have taken and ive walked and worked in the woods with short sandels and a tshirt for 25 years now. the neighbor down the hill had one on her dog this past spring. idk my hill gets pretty damn cold. its strange but ill have snow on top and it will be raining at the bottom of the road. ill keep an eye out for them more perhaps but i love the -20 weather that kills them off..1 point

x2 on Rhino Skin. I've been using it for five seasons now. Won't go in the woods on LI without it. No ticks get through it. I hit my stuff with Sawyers once in the early part of the year around Oct. Also, knee high rubber/neoprene boots (I use Mucks) sprayed with permethrin. They are endemic out here. Nothing you can do about them. If you don't want ticks near you stay indoors.1 point

My good friend hit them good last week at a local dairy farm over decoys. Three of them shot 127 in little under 2 hours. They set to the decoys well and it was fairly easy shooting. God bless my wife...she ordered all the dekes..including an extra dozen full body Soar No Mores...she gets angry when I deny myself things but buy the world around me everything they want/need and work like an animal most weeks. She was going to buy me a new A5 camo 12 too but I stopped her thete. I have more guns than Cabelas and cannot see wasting more on a pigeon gun. My Perazzi and A5 sporting clays she bought me last year are more than adequate.1 point

Biggest eye of my life today. 10.27 followed by a 10.10 and a 7.8. The fam hit Erie because of an East wind forecast on Ontario. Great day. Kids had a blast and the wife got a taste for some reeling. Tossed abunch back too. Not a short all day! Actually, I never reeled in a fish!! Happy independence Day all !! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk1 point
