Back at it, same place for out first week up here. New thread, for new pics, it’s going to be a GOOD trip, LOTS in store. Left home at 3:30 this morning, and had a smooth, quiet drive up. We have never been up this late in the year, so it was nice how little traffic there was. We took a short side trip to see the ocean in Wells, and kennebunk area...

For the past 29 weeks I have been following the Weight Watchers healthy lifestyle/eating habits. I have also been putting in a lot of miles on my bicycle closing in on 1200 miles since weather permitted. I'm now averaging about 25 miles per day when I ride with a 42 mile ride as my longest. As of the WW weigh in this last Thursday, I've now lost 103.8# over 29 weeks (3.6# average weight loss per week) Here are my 5#, 10#, 25#, 50#, 75# and 100# milestone tokens on my key fob. I feel better than I did when I was 1/2 my age because in those days I smoked cigarettes.

While doing some stuff at the farm today, found this deadhead. Never saw him by eye or on camera. Real nice one for this area.Would have liked to have seen him while hunting last year. A nice mature buck. Would have been really nice this year. No idea what killed him. Picked clean.

This nut job is going to be nothing but problems. He is trying to intimidate you to get what he wants. Will no doubt cut straps on stands, steal cams, and any number of nasty things, to ratchet up the intimidation factor. To either get you to leave, or get his way. In his twisted mind, he's been there longer than you, and it's "his" land!!! First thing, is to tell your landowner what happened. And that you were threatened. And that you'll be filing a report with the authorities. Then follow through with the report. They have dealt with this kind of stuff before, and most times will handle it professionally. Use exteam caution while scouting, hunting, or any time you are using this lease. And don't let your guard down. Most of all don't give in to this A-hole!!

Got up early and went to the lake property, to check the setups over there. And trim up stuff in the shooting lanes. All set now! Looks great! Tons of deer sign too. This is usually a great early season spot. So I'll concentrate my efforts there early on. Always a chance at a mature buck too.This is where I'll likely get my bow kill this year. 22 yards to this run. It's a perfect natural deer funnel. And we've taken a bunch of deer here over the years.

I have been dealing with crazy, criminal, drunk, poachers high on drugs for 46 years. An entire family of them. I have spoken about them on this and other sites before. Short story is they threatened us and we had one of them put in prison for a long stretch. They are not supposed to be carrying firearms but they do. We even bought land on the next mountain to get away from them and last year they fired a shot in my brothers direction across a highway on our new land. If you go down the road of involving the police it will never end. And you will be in fear of them permanently. Not telling you what to do just explaining to you what will happen. We don’t hunt the land adjacent to theirs alone anymore. We are always strapped with long guns, handguns and belt knives.

Took a walk out back of my place with the new TriStar 28 ga to see if I could knock off a couple of Squirrels for the pot, it was slow and quiet and the bugs were biting. Saw one nice big one running along the ground at 20 yards for an easy shot and that was about it. So the 28 TriStar is cherry no more and the squirrel is in the pressure cooker as I type this. Al

Well We are down here sighting in with broadheads, no sign of the jerk, but two other neighbors stopped to say hi. Nice people, both said that guy is a good dude. I said nothing about yesterday. As I carried two 40# bags of softener salt into the house yesterday, it really hit home that not so long ago I was carrying that much weight plus another 24# on my body. The difference is astounding.
