  1. I’ve had months of Trailcam pics of this buck but literally would only come around from 11pm-4am and then vanish. So I stayed out of the woods until I got some daytime activities. It was great staying out of the woods with the cell camera sending pics. Last couple of days I caught him moving in the daylight so I had the wind that I needed and was able to slip in. He gave me a 15 yard broadside shot and it felt to good to be true

  3. A few small bucks in groups and a few different groups of doe.. Looks like things haven't heated up by me but I was able to fill the freezer this AM. She made it a bitch to get a shot off so it makes the harvest even more satisfying. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

  4. 11/3 I woke up to a text this morning that I had received at 11:00 pm last night, asking if I was the guy with the tracking dog. Usually if I hear from a hunter that late it means he and his buddies have been out grid searching and I’m the last resort. That wasn’t the case here. The hunter had his 8 year old son with him when he shot this buck, and they watched it go across the railroad tracks and bed down. He thought it was dead, so they went back to get the side by side. When they returned, the buck was gone. He found a couple drops of blood, but was unable to follow the track and wisely backed right out. I had an appointment this morning, so we didn’t arrive until 1:00, about 20 hours after the shot. This track was 650 yards long, with no blood after the first 100 yards. Luna took me up and down a couple small hills, through some fight your way through thick stuff, and to the edge of a swamp, where she turned around and headed back towards the direction we came from. She was acting confident so I let her continue. Shortly after, she led me right to the gut shot buck and commenced with her usual leg chew. The hunter and his wife had fallen behind as we tracked, and we’re not within hollering distance. When we connected on the phone, I told him I had found a couple drops of blood and to come on over. It makes my day to watch someone’s emotions change so quickly when they realize they have their deer.

  5. Got decent penetration but not as much as I expected, 25 yd shot, great blood 5 yds from hit, I saw blood fly out of him as he ran, bubbles in blood too. I possibly heard him crash but not certain. pretty 8 pt Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk

  10. Got it done today. I'm in 8P and it seems the bucks are seeking now. Went to one of my stands near a bedding area. Put out some golden estrous scent.. It was about 5:00 and this guy came right in. 5 yard shot right under my stand. Walked off after the shot. Saw a tuff in his hair in shoulder. Thought I missed! lol but he wobbled at 30 yards and fell over. Double lung shot. Nice 2.5 year old 7 pt. I feel blessed!

  11. As I sit here waiting for a buck, I was flipping through photos and this one still cracks me up. My buddy missed him after they ran by him. He got LUCKY that day. Only time I caught that in person. Real rut action.

  13. Well this afternoon was slow until the last 25 minutes when a big buck came out of the swamp, he stayed at 50yds and I couldn't pull him closer despite my best efforts. He'd stand and watch for 5 minutes every time I called but wouldn't commit. I even grabbed a limb and shook the hell out of it as a last ditch effort, to no avail... Saw 5 bucks today, 4 of them shooters, 5 does, and missed one due to something stupid on my part. Another all day sit tomorrow... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk

  14. You have to wonder what happened in some peoples lives that would cause them to look at the current administration and have this delusional idea that this country is doing well or headed innthe correct direction. Literally nothing is better in this country right now . I just got my first negative 401k statement, I think I got one during trumps 4 years and then it bounced back tremendously. Empty shelves ,cargo ships piling up off the coast ,gas prices climbing ,inflation through the roof ,natural gas up 42 percent this winter, first responders and hospital workers fired during a "pandemic" . Please tell me what you guys see that I'm missing that makes you think you chose the right guy. Honestly.

  16. Almost ready . I put my compound away and got out my CenterPoint 370 . Had to cut a piece of wood to take with me so I can cock the X-bow . The stirrup is too small for the toe of my boot to fit in it . I slide the board into the stirrup a couple inches , stand on the board and cock the X-bow . Works for me .

  17. Ok this is not live from the woods and you will find out why . So I loaded up Cooper and rubies into the truck and headed out to do some pheasant hunting at Stewart's. All went well I got a travel Kennel for Cooper because he can't sit still in a truck . He got in it no problem . Loaded ruby into the front seat . She is a lady and sits nicely . So off we go . We hit the first field Cooper is having fun running all thur the field . Ruby stayed by my Sided. She is fat so she does as little as possible. Well anyway Cooper kicks up a bird by accident I was not ready didn't even shoot . Cooper stands there and watches fly into the swamp . Ruby starts to follow the bird but stops . Take Cooper over to where the bird fly from he goes crazy looking for it . Lolol was very funny . Ruby looks around too. We walk 2 more fields . Poor ruby doesn't want to go and More. She is fat and short legs like me . She is begging to go home . So we start back to the truck and Cooper found shit and before I could say leave it he rolls in it . Omg white dog now covered in brown ( either human or dog ) shit. I start gagging . What does this shit dog do he comes over and jumps up on me . Yuc(kkkkmkm so the only thing I am thankful for is I got that Kennel or he would of been left in the woods . I had nothing to wipe him off with . I got him home and wash him, wash ruby, washed me . I can gut a deer with out gagging but to wash stinky shit off of a dog was nasty. Now everyone is sleeping and I am washing my clothes inside of Kennel and cleaning my tub .

  18. Saw immediate blood pumping out, bubbly too. I thought I heard him crash but I'm playing it safe. Gonna wait a bit longer before trailing. I thought he bulldozed a brush pile too but it could have been because he wasn't using his front leg. I'm confident somewhat that he's dead, but I'm always apprehensive about weird looking shots. Hopefully it hit the offside shoulder and I don't have anything to worry about... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk

  20. Live from the driveway…heading north of the ADKs to set up a primitive camp to live in for the next ~3 weeks to hunt (flintlock/stone point), trap, and fly fish. Glad I just got new springs for the Jeep! Good luck hunting!

  21. Had a decent hunt tonight. I heard a buck grunting a little not long after sitting down. Shortly after that I saw a doe pop out into a small food plot of corn and clover. A few minutes later a decent looking 8 pointer came into the plots other end. Once he saw the doe he started moving that way. After he got to where the doe came into the plot he stopped and stared into the brush. Then he took off after a doe I never saw in the brush. It didn't last too long then he came back into the plot back where he first did where some other does and fawns now were. He didn't really mess with them much. That was it for the night. The buck was about a twin to the buck I shot last year. If he'd have come close enough he would have gotten a pass, I'm hoping to see something a bit bigger at some point. Glad to have a little action anyways.

  27. I can see why those fiber optics don’t hold up for your style of big woods hunting: relentless, fast-paced pursuit, on the trail of a big buck, until you catch up to, and kill it. My preferred method is about as different from that as could be imagined, and far less abusive on the equipment. I bust my ass at work for 45 hours a week, on my feet most of the time. I am usually looking for a little comfort and “relaxation” when I get into the big woods. For me, that means slowly and deliberately sneaking into an ambush position, then strapping my hammock chair to a tree, and patiently waiting for the deer to come to me. (4) of the (5) big-woods Adirondack deer that I have killed were taken that way. Thankfully, there have been more hits than misses for me from the chair, but I also shot at and missed 2 (a buck during late ML season last year and a doe a few years prior). Worse yet, was the time I never even got a shot off. Last opening day of rifle season, while seated comfortably in my hammock chair, with my fiber optic-sited Marlin in my lap, this damn smart phone was in my hand and saved the life of the largest Adirondack buck that I have ever seen. So far, I have managed just one doe, while sneaking into position. I did blow a great chance at a big doe last year, because I was a little to fussy with my tag. I couldn’t see her head at first and didn’t want to risk loosing my buck tag on a spike. I didn’t see it until she bolted away, and no shot was taken.

  29. Game plan for tmrw is to sit at this location ,a trail that cuts in between bedding .there is a scrape under the pine ,and these does use the trail often .This is a small creek bottom funnel between 2 ridges .Very narrow .I’ve killed some nice deer here ,and when the rut is on its non stop traffic .

  30. Bumped a deer on the way out and that was it for me. Weatherman lied no snow at my cabin. Pretty sure this guy is marking up the place pretty good. Found three very fresh rubs within 50 yards of my cabin go figure. I'm doing it all wrong, gotta ditch the climber and hunt from the loft. The picture is from four days ago at midnight. Found a snapped large sapling right by where the photo was taken. Just a little four point but look at that background freaking beautiful up here.

  31. 11/3: Hunted 3S this morning. At 745am a 6pt came in. One I have several pics of. He’s a 1.5 so I let him walk at 30 yards. Just as he got out of sight, a doe popped up and the 6pt came back. He chased her around a little bit then they both waded through the swamp and he chased her out of sight. Then at 9am a red fox came by. I drew twice and let down. It wouldn’t stop moving and it was smaller than some bigger ones I’ve seen so I was gonna let it go but then it stopped so I shot at 30yds. Arrow stuck into tree with lighted nock. Fox walked off slowly, so thought maybe I missed. But it quickly bedded down. Head was up but bedded. There was no way to take another shot and I didn’t want to stalj and push it. So I planned to wait and see what happened. Then I saw the deer again at 945. The same 6pt came through chasing the doe. In the commotion of watching them, the fox must have gotten up and moved. At 11am I went to arrow and found blood and saw fox bedded up on a hill. So I backed out. No way to get close enough for a shot and weird angle. Went back into the woods around 3pm and recovered the fox on the edge of a swamp. Shot was solid. 30yds through high shoulder and out the guts. Then I got back into my deer spot and saw a doe from 525pm - 537pm grazing but no bucks before dark. Cam-wise, All 3 shooter bucks here since Friday when I hunted last here. The chocolate 8pt, wide 8pt and Crabclaw 10pt. Also a cool hawk pic (I think) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  32. Had an absolute giant work a scrape 50yds from me tonight across a plot. If he was broadside I might have tried but quartering away left no room for error. Hope I see him tomorrow. Lots of deer in both fields on way out. Not real rut like.

  45. Second sit of the season Friday night. With cold front I went to a spot I scouted in August. Left my trail cam and wasn't going back till I hunted it. I had 3 does come in with small buck chasing/harassing them. They worked off and 30 mins later I saw a large body moving down the hill my direction. Took him what seemed like an hour to make his way to 25 yards. He put on a show. Making multiple rubs and scrapes. He presented a 25 yard quartering away shot and the rest was history. Only trail cam pic of him when I checked camera was him at 25 yards right before the shot. Also got me looking at arrow after shot. What a hunt I'm super pumped. Will be moving my vacation time for the first week of gun!!!!
