Congrats to all who filled tags today!

Morning was a bust, just cold. Had things to do so headed home. Actually got everything done early enough to get an evening sit in. Didn't see anything. I was hoping the other hunter I heard walk in below the ridge I was on would push something up to me. Nope. I left about 5 minutes before legal shooting time was up. By the time I got my gear off and started heading out of the parking area it was probably 15-20 minutes after legal time. I hear "bang". Guess I pushed one to a poacher.

My son and I weren't able to harvest anything this afternoon had 5 does tear down a logging trail like they just broke out of jail just 50 yards away but wasn't comfortable with the shot, got one more chance tomorrow afternoon and that's it for us up north, congratulations to all that harvested tonight especially the father and son duo of Shadd Rapp on 2 great bucks, dosent get any better than that right there!

Clearly a genetic defect that won't spread throughout your herd anymore. Now you wont have to feel bad man. lol that is weird looking.

fiancé arrowed her first deer, we tracked and lost blood after about 250 yards. it was heavy then thinned out i suspect because the arrow was still in her. flash lights all died so we marked the spot and will hopefully find her in the am.

Awesome work through some cold sits boys and girls! Hoping to join the party tomorrow. My version of an all day sit...sun up until about 12:00. That's all day when twin boys have 3 basketball games (2 different teams) and my daughter is in her first NYC off Broadway musical.

I'll report now since fingers will be shot by 7:30...back in 3S with the bow. COLD AND NO DEER SEEN except for the three I bumped on the walk in. Squirrel should be here soon and maybe the fox that frequents my tree.

Just want to say congrats to everyone who tagged a deer today. I haven't been able to get out due to my moving and finishing that up but my buddy called and filled his extra 8g tag today and said hope you have room in your freezer, I just dropped doe off at processor for you! So I may not have filled a tag this year, but my freezer will be full none the less!

After an eventful mourning hunting with my grandson, him grunting and bleating a buck within 30 yards, twice with no deer down.  It was pretty much the same for the afternoon hunt as well. My hunting buddy made a couple of small pushes to us from thick areas as we posted on the opposite field edges. And since I have no buck tag the only deer I could have shot were bucks!!!  Three different small bucks and one big bodied and racked 8 pt. came across the field towards us at different times. A bunch of doe cut the inside corner of the other field edge moving too fast for a good shot. They just never popped out or slowed enough for a clean shot.  Back out with my buddy again in the morning. Would never see this amount of bucks if I was looking to shoot one! Seems like that's the way it always works though.

Congrats to everyone that put deer down today! My morning was unsuccessful with another 4 hours in the woods with out seeing a deer. Just got home from a holiday party and it's time to get some sleep. Only a few more hours before it's my last hunt of the year.

Purtty nipply here in 8N........looks like a south/south east wind and 23 degrees.  I'll use the climber this morning, hopefully I don't freeze a digit while getting it set up.  Killed a doe last night, I'll file a report later with a barn picture.  Did I mention the blizzard?????

A balmy 8 degrees here in the hilltowns. The frost heave is almost 6 inches in the woods. And it's like walking on a bag of potato chips with each step. Probably wait till first light to hunt my way in. At least that way I'll see what I scare up. Storm rolling in for this evening . Should be a good hunting day! Good luck to all venturing out!

      Hi Everyone,
It is current the last week for regular season in upstate NY. Living the life working and being a full time student, I have some time off this week and would like to take a ride upstate to do a gun hunt. Never have I hunted public land in the areas 3 G, F, or N and was looking for some recommendations and help! I had used the DEC info locator and found California Hill and thought I might go there. Is there any recommendations on areas to go to in any of the wmu’s? Or on California? Any help would be really appreciated!!

      best of holiday wishes!

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

I'm new to the area and looking for some places to hunt  the next few weekends through bow/muzzleloader season. I'm living in New Paltz, and the place that seems the most promising to me so far is Vernooy Kill State forrest, and north into Sundown. Has anyone had any luck in these areas? Is there anywhere better in the area I should check out? Any info is welcome

      Hi Everyone,
My name is Raul and I am a new hunter! I've been hunting public land for now, but have been suffering. I've done 2 10 hour sits at Kings Park and 3 10 hour sits at Rocky Point and haven't seen one deer. I use a treestand and use scent blocker. I also get there super early in the morning. I need help! I plan to go again this friday. I scouted Rocky point after the first day and always see sign and I try to hunt the areas, but no success. I hunt around 42 and 36 I think. If someone wants the exact spot I can send them it on a map. I am really just looking for help in any areas and everything. I have put so much effort yet all i want is to just see one that will keep moral up. Any help is really appreciated!
