So who will shoot a doe on opener

If the opportunity arises.  Kind of a game time call for me.  Last few years, I have taken one on the opener but who knows.

I would. Put some meat in the freezer early and take the pressure off.  My November schedule sucks this year unfortunatley for getting out.

I will always try and put a doe down early in the season and then focus on the bucks

Depends on my work schedule and weather but probably yes, I will cork one.

In my opinion, an adult doe is harder to kill than a doe fawn, button buck or an adult buck.

I like taking a doe early, it's a confidence builder for me. I don't have any double stands at the land for my 8yr old to join me so I'm gonna try and take one out of our enclosed stand behind the house with him. That's the plan for now.

A nice big healthy doe , yes sir. We don't eat horns and I've got 3 dmp's for where I hunt

I won't, but the only reason is that I won't be hunting the opener....my first day of hunting I will if the opportunity presents itself.

That makes me feel good.  My last two opening day does were huge ole girls.  True swamp donkeys.

Yep I'll kill anything I have a tag for....the smallest deer gets my blood pumping like the biggest buck....I wanna shoot a yote with my bow bad tho

I've been after the same crotchety doe for a while now. She just pisses the hell out of me whenever I am walking back to my car and I see her group but she always has to snort and blow right when I'm ready to shoot one. Needless to say it will be sweet sweet victory when I finally take her out and can add her to the deer pedestal in my avatar.

To some extent, it also depends on the property I end up hunting.  Might avoid the drag on one and one has been hammered by nuisance permits all summer so any survivors may get a pass for now.

Nope. Haven't shot a doe since I was 16 years old. Only hunt a handful of days per year so interest in a doe. Only keep backstraps from bucks anyway and donate the rest of the meat.

Agreed many variables can come into play. If the wind cooperates Saturday I'm going for a 8pt I named barnacles. I wouldn't take a doe out of that stand.

I have passed on shooting a doe early only to not get a shot later and ate tag soup .
