Yeah I imagine so. What do you look for here in the adks to make you follow them? I'm hunting silver lake wilderness area...used to have lots of big bucks back in the days of my grandfather and uncle's but these days they seem pretty scarce. Pm me if youd like. I'll take any tips you willing to give!

Sorry..I hunt along the Pennsyltucky border...Checking the two trailcams I have, I have seen 10-12 bucks and a bunch of does on our 107 acres... No real wallhangers, but a couple of decent 10 points and a couple of decent 8 points  plus a bunch of smaller bucks and does.... Being a meat hunter, I am likely to shoot a smaller buck and a doe....I have no more room for trophys and  small bucks and does taste much better than nasty old rutting bucks....

Forgive me hunters for I have sinned.

This afternoon on my way to hunt I needed an energy boost after a long day at the office. I grabbed an apple and ate it on the hike in.

I left the core on my approach trail and now in the stand I question the ethics of my decision and my own morals and virtues that I live by.

Please forgive me and accept this confession.

I do this as a natural toothbrushing on the way to my spot. I also consider it lucky. I’ve only done it once this season due to a lack of apples at the house, and it was the day I was able to put one in the freezer.

Hoping so.  The place in 3M I hunt, had all sorts of rut activity the first week of November LAST SEASON.  This year, I am seeing diddly squat there.  Yet guys within 15 mins are seeing rut activity.  I have PILES of fresh rubs though, I swapped my cam card, see what happens.  I do know that last year, deer sighting completely stopped after the first week of November,  and I hunted to the last day.  Maybe burned the stand out.  I dont know.

This is my problem on me lease. Deer all the way from bow opener to the day before gun then nothing the rest of the year.

Oh trust me I whack my share of does and some smaller bucks in southern zone outside Albany. Just got into gun hunting past three seasons, bowhunted for past 17 years since I was 13 and lived in 4j. Moved to 5h last year and have never got an adk buck. Population is so low up here I just won't shoot does or small bucks...want that adk trophy mature buck. I'll get him soon enough. These adk deer all taste like spruce to me, yuck! Lol southern zone is my meat market. Usually 4-7 deer a year down there if I get dmps and my family signs there two dmps. Nothing like a bow harvest. First year I haven't been out with the bow yet. Late archery I'm positive I'll get an archery tag filled. Saturday it's go time...freezers low besides salmon and browns from lake Ontario, I'm a charter captain out of Oswego / Mexico.

Not a bad thing to have in the freezer. I have gallon jugs of water in there right now just so it is not so empty. Need deer meat in there!!!

Annnnnnd zero deer seen again.  Getting discouraged.

Bionic,do you have enough property to do a still hunt?  Mixing it up is what makes me able to sit and see nothing. If i walk and see tails, that's something at least. Got close twice tuesday on the ground, less than 30 yds. That is a rush.

Generally you see more on the ground, but shot opportunities are fewer.

The wind finally died down enough to go out for an afternoon sit so I went out for the last two hours.

Had a real small four point walk by down the hill from me. Then just before closing had three does come through at a pretty good pace. If I shot all three I wouldn't have ended up with 50 lbs. of meat.

At the property i was sort of crying about, I do not have that option honestly.  However, I did get multiple bucks on cam from this weeks check.  They are apart from does, and all seems calm so, wondering if rut is not here fully.  At home I have 5 acres, with 80 ish acres, but I am afraid to still hunt it, sort of big wood scenario, afraid if I spook then, they will know whats up, and go nocturnal,  or far away.

Not if you used the chest girth measurements, probably be closer to 150lbs!

Prob will go but def afternoon.
Just finished butchering doe and mixed up 8 lbs of bacon burger and 11 lbs of Apple breakfast sausage to package up tomorrow.
So ready for another the deer hang is empty and reset.
I was thinking of going out in the AM but I fully see myself bailing and going back to bed when I feel how cold it is outside.

I wish I could get out today. My cell cam picked up a lot of movement last night from multiple bucks. I'm thinking there is a hot doe around. Two parent teacher conferences at different times of the day today was a terrible idea by the wife!

One big track ten feet out my garage door!

Really thought hard as I passed the heated tower! A scrape by it was freshened. I think the boy will be there opening morn so letting it sit.

Wanted to see what tracks down by the far stand. Bumped one almost to the stand rrrr

Lots of single sets of tracks

It’s kkkkkkkcold!!

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

Just want to relay an experience I had this weekend regarding hunting regulations and other hunters.
I've had several  hunter's tell me last weekend(10/12/2020) that muzzleloader was open, it is not. I also had two other hunters last weekend confront me as to why my son was carrying around a rifle and hunting deer. I calmly explained the youth weekend and the rules around it. After that everything was cool and we continued our hunt.
I know at the end of the day we're all trying to participate in a sport we love and maybe harvest some game. My thought is to just make sure you're up on your local hunting regulations. Not just so you are within the rules, but also so you can assert your right to be where you are, hunting the way you're hunting.
I know when I have been operating outside of the regulations I have appreciated a person respectfully correcting my ignorance and I try to pay it forward by being informed and respectfully educating when required.
Thanks for listening, off my SB...

      Hello,
I am in the process of purchasing my first rifle to go hunting deer for the first time.  However, I have received contradicting information regarding the types of rifles that are legal.  Based on what I have read, it appears that I am able to use a bolt-action rifle with a pistol grip and a detachable magazine which holds 10 rounds.  However, I have been told that this is not the case. I can't seem to find where this is stated.  Can any one here provide me with some insight into this? I'd really appreciate it.
      Thanks in Advanced,
      Alfredo
