Culvercreek hunt club
Information on a post like this can help if the OP puts general area they are in. Things like access to deer search options can help but only if the area is known.

Culvercreek hunt club
Congrats. Glad it all worked out. How was the actual shot placement compared to what you thought?
philoshop
1 hour ago, Steuben Jerry said: Good advice, that happened to me three years ago. Was fortunate to recover the doe the next morning after a high lung hit. She went another 800 yards after I bumped her. I should have stayed put. Even getting out to try and get back later is not good. Stay put in the stand. That's why you bring snacks and sandwiches .That deer has no idea what happened and will lie down and die unless you give it a reason to get up. I'm old, and some call me dumb, but you don't push a wounded deer unless you feel like tracking for a few days. I've recovered deer that were completely bled out and still running to get away. Animal instinct. It's what they do to survive every day.
moog5050
Congrats on a great buck. So nice that it appears to have been an easy track with a dead buck found!

Five Seasons
so glad to see those pics! congrats man. Like I said, even what you think could be a bad hit, might not be true at all... and vice versa. Does look a little high and back from the "bulls eye" but still a damn nice shot within the paper plate.

Moho81
Dang that's a nice deer. I'd love to hear what vitals you took out and how far he went. That looks like a good shot placement to me. Congratulations!
moog5050
Looks like high lung and likely liver depending on angle and height of shot. One thing is for sure, it was good enough to kill that buck!

Arcade Hunter
You smoked him!! I had the same thing happen to me in 2016... I was not positive of my shot and it was nearing dark. I waited 30 min in the stand, then went to my arrow. Pass through shot with air bubbles in the blood. It was all I could do to leave and start looking in the morning. I found him right away at first light next day about 80 yards hidden under a thick bush, dead from a double lung shot. Didnt sleep much that night either!
cdbing
I like hunting stories with a happy ending. I must be quite a relief! I get that self- doubt everytime the animal doesn't fall withing sight or sound.Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
