For the past 29 weeks I have been following the Weight Watchers healthy lifestyle/eating habits. I have also been putting in a lot of miles on my bicycle closing in on 1200 miles since weather permitted. I'm now averaging about 25 miles per day when I ride with a 42 mile ride as my longest. As of the WW weigh in this last Thursday, I've now lost 103.8# over 29 weeks (3.6# average weight loss per week) Here are my 5#, 10#, 25#, 50#, 75# and 100# milestone tokens on my key fob. I feel better than I did when I was 1/2 my age because in those days I smoked cigarettes.19 points

Actually, at 9:00 AM I thought I might be skunked....Not a LOT of nuts, but some cuttings lying around and I could hear cuttings dropping from the HIGH hickories and knew there were squirrels up there feeding.. Still, all I could was the occasional leaf moving... I finally identified a tree that had several squirrels working the upper branches...Moved back very slowly until I could see some of the upper limbs....I could tell by the foliage moving that there were several squirrels feeding.. I finally got a decent look at one and shot him....Within 5 seconds I shot 2 more, because they started abandoning the tree...Fun shooting....fast and instinctive shooting at squirrels running limb to limb... By 9:30 I had six on the ground and went around to pick them up...Found 5 two blacks and 3 greys.. Could not find the 6th..He may have been.. just stunned and crawled into a hole...Happens sometimes... Not a single bot fly larva in any of them...10 points

https://rochestermiraclefield.org/about-us/our-story/ Watch the Video as well . Ron is a friend of mine, and I wish to share the “ backstory .” Ron was a Rochester firefighter , husband ,father, bodybuilder and ,runner , his world changed at the top of a ladder 30 plus years ago . It was a well involved house fire with a woman hanging out a second floor window, Ron placed the ladder, and the first floor window blew out and it became a race of flames and firefighter up the side of the house , the woman panicked and jumped to Ron . He caught her and fell to the ground . He landed on his back . His heal shattered like an egg as well as his back , they put his back back together with two six inch rods and some bone from his hip . He spent the next six months or year I can’t recall now , in a body cast . He’s had multiple operations since ,and he looks pretty good, but he lives with pain . He was a good baseball player and his Dad was well known in Little League for decades so keeping in the game was a natural for him . Ron started what I believe was the first “ Challenger “ team in this area , he also coached a blind baseball team. But his real accomplishment was Miracle Field . Read about it watch the video ,it makes me emotional and proud , not once in all the interviews has he talked about himself , I believe he’s purposely kept that part out of it to keep the focus on the players and others .7 points

Most complaints about squirrel recipes is that they are not very tender... Here is my go to recipe.... Clean and disjoint ...I discard the ribcage and neck and end up with 5 pieces, the 4 legs and the back... Dust the pieces in flour, salt, pepper and poultry seasoning...Brown over medium heat in butter.. Place pieces in a baking dish ( I use a 9 x13 foil pan)….Slice up an onion or two over the meat..Fill the pan to perhaps 1/2 full of chicken broth...Cover and bake over low heat 280- 300 F) for about two hours...Uncover and turn up heat to reduce liquid and brown meat … Make gravy from the drippings if you want...The squirrel by now should be brown on top ,very tender and literally falling off the bones.. If you don't like that you are not American....<<grin>>….l5 points

Spent some Range time with the 250 yesterday and got her dialed in for this up coming season. I decided on loading the Sierra 90 gr hp bullet and used H414 powder, according to the Lee manual I should be between 3200 and 3300 fps which is pretty good velocity for this little cartridge, I will chronograph these loads to see how they jive with the manual. The 90 Sierra was a favorite of mine fired in my first 25-06 many years ago, it gave outstanding accuracy and was used for long range chuck hunting. Today Sierra markets the 90 gr bullet as a dual purpose varmint-big game proposition, I am confident with good shot placement it will do it's job. The 99 Savage A performed well putting 3 shots in slightly under an inch, it's trigger is very heavy but crisp, not good for shooting tight groups but will suffice for Deer. I will be looking into this heavy trigger for a remedy.4 points

Well my wife forced me to urgent care tonight. Yesterday I felt fine but I do think I have a concussion. I'm sensitive to staring at my computer at work and TV's and today I came home early to take a nap to rest my eyes. That sent her over the edge. So urgent care said I should have gone right to strong trauma center, do to how far I fell but since I'm not showing signs they said I most likely have a concussion and referred me to the concussion center. 8 lives left!4 points

While not having a big following among mainstream hunters and clay bird sports one of my favorite firearms is a Turkish made CZ Ringneck side by side double 28 ga, slim and trim along with light weight 5 ¾ lbs make it a joy to carry and is of very good quality. I love using it for early season Squirrel, Grouse and Woodcock, it also works well on Pheasant as long as I stay within it’s moderate range. The only drawback I have for the 28 ga is the shells, they are not easy to find, there is not a good variety of factory loads and when I find some in stock they are expensive compared to what the cost of other common gauge shells sell for. I get around those aggravating shell drawbacks by loading my own. I picked up a MEC Jr press set up for 28 ga on ebay for a decent price which allows me to produce ammo in line with cost and quality of the more popular gauges. So as of late on the crappy weather days I have been spending some time brewing up a variety 28 ga hand loads, everything from ¾ ounce standard loads to some heavy loads that are for all intents the same as 20 ga and even loaded some non toxic IXT shot in case I get a crack at a low flying duck. I now have a nice supply of 28 ga ammo for just about any type of small game hunting or clay bird target practice I want to do. Gee! that gives me an excuse to pick up another shotgun to utilize all these shells LOL! Not wanting to spend a lot of money I was seriously considering the NRA’s shotgun of the year the TriStar “Viper” auto loader, manufactured by another gunmaker from Turkey that has received rave reviews from all that have tested it. But while I do like autoloaders when it comes to wing shooting I have always been a double man at heart. Already having a pretty nice side by side in the CZ Ringneck my sights turned toward over and unders, a style of shotgun which I do not currently have an example of. The O/U shotguns can get pretty pricey but while on the TriStar site researching the Viper I saw they had a pretty extensive line of O/Us and they were entry level priced. One model that really caught my attention was the Hunter EX LT weighing an astounding light 4.8 pounds. A firearm that light would have to be nice to carry especially for a geezer like me, I realize it is entry level and a little rough around the edges, no Perazzi for sure but at 71 years of age I do not think I will be firing it enough while hunting to wear it out. Now last but not least was the way I went about making the purchase, for the first time I used “Davidson’s Gallery Of Guns”, it is an internet firearm distribution system that teams up with local FFL dealers. The site uses a search feature called the ‘Gun Genie’ to find the exact firearm you are interested in. Once found you will see if it is available-in stock and dealers within a 25 mile radius of your zip code will be listed showing their total prices with fees and tax. Choose the dealer you like best and purchase, the firearm will be shipped to that location where you can complete your purchase and pick it up. https://www.galleryofguns.com/default.aspx The TriStar was picked up today, my initial impression is it is a good buy for the money and will make for a good field gun, I will be shooting it soon. Pictured below is the CZ Ringneck along with the TriStar hunter, the CZ is no doubt a better quality shotgun but it should be as it costs almost twice as much. Al2 points

Took a walk out back of my place with the new TriStar 28 ga to see if I could knock off a couple of Squirrels for the pot, it was slow and quiet and the bugs were biting. Saw one nice big one running along the ground at 20 yards for an easy shot and that was about it. So the 28 TriStar is cherry no more and the squirrel is in the pressure cooker as I type this. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2019-09-04/san-francisco-board-nra-domestic-terrorist-organization The article states “Stefani, who is part of the pro-gun control group Moms Demand Action, accused the NRA of working to limit gun violence research, restricting gun violence data sharing and trying to halt gun violence prevention legislation.” I wonder if Ms. Stefani is using the NRA as a scapegoat for her organizations failure to work towards reducing or eliminating gun violence. While Ms. Stefani blames the NRA, nowhere does the article discuss her organizations quest to attack the following real major root causes of gun violence in America, which does not include the NRA: · The distribution, sale and use of illegal drugs that causes violent behavior. · The failed mental health crisis that is allowing the violently mentally ill to remain free in society. · The failed corrections system that has and continues to release unrepentant and non-rehabilitated violent convicts back into society. · The failed social programs system that has enabled laziness and loss of self-determination to be a productive member of society. · The failed public education system that does not seriously deal with violent youths, programs that are not meeting the needs of the student and society, and school administrators who fail to blame the problems of families in crisis where an environment to learn is impeded by violence, indifference and lack of concern for their children. Sad how gun control advocates continue to spin the gun violence problem onto the NRA, and seek more prohibitions and restrictions on legal firearm ownership instead of seriously attacking the real root causes of gun violence.2 points

I am going to check my favorite hickory grove tomorrow morning at sunrise...It is on State park Land and is a full 5 minutes from my house... Due to the heavy foliage, I'll be carrying my 1936 vintage Winchester M12 16 gauge with 1 oz. loads of # 6 shot....2 points

Tim Allen is credited with writing this. From :Tim Allen Here are some interesting points to think about prior to 2020, especially to my friends on the fence, like moderate Democrats, Libertarians and Independents and the never Trump Republicans and those thinking of "walking away" from the #Democraticparty. #Women are upset at Trump’s naughty words -- they also bought 80 million copies of 50 Shades of Gray. Not one #feminist has defended Sarah Sanders. It seems women’s rights only matter if those women are liberal. No Border Walls. No voter ID laws. Did you figure it out yet? But wait... there's more. #ChelseaClinton got out of college and got a job at NBC that paid $900,000 per year. Her mom flies around the country speaking out about white privilege. And just like that, they went from being against foreign interference in our elections to allowing non-citizens to vote in our elections. President Trump’s wall costs less than the #Obamacarewebsite. Let that sink in, America. We are one election away from open borders, #socialism, gun confiscation, and full-term abortion nationally. We are fighting #evil. They sent more troops and armament to arrest Roger Stone than they sent to defend #Benghazi. 60 years ago, #Venezuela was 4th on the world economic freedom index. Today, they are 179th and their citizens are dying of starvation. In only 10 years, Venezuela was destroyed by #democraticsocialism. Russia donated $0.00 to the Trump campaign. #Russia donated $145,600,000 to the #ClintonFoundation. But Trump was the one investigated! #NancyPelosi invited illegal aliens to the State of the Union. President Trump Invited victims of #illegalaliens to the State of the Union. Let that sink in. A #socialist is basically a #communist who doesn’t have the power to take everything from their citizens at gunpoint ... Yet! #AlexandriaOcasioCortez wants to ban cars, ban planes, give out universal income and thinks socialism works. She calls Donald Trump crazy. #BillClinton paid $850,000 to Paula Jones To get her to go away. I don’t remember the FBI raiding his lawyer’s office. I wake up every day and I am grateful that #HillaryClinton is not the president of the United States of America. The same media that told me Hillary Clinton had a 95% chance of winning now tells me Trump’s approval ratings are low. “The problem with #socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people’s money.”— #Margaret #Thatcher #Maxine #Waters opposes voter ID laws; She thinks that they are racist. You need to have a photo ID to attend her town hall meetings. Trump — They’re not after me. They’re after you. I’m just in their way. Read that again. Interesting huh ?2 points
