  2. Took the day off because the weekend looked a little iffy. Turns out it was the right choice. Just put what looked like a good shot on a nice 8 trailing a doe. I'm gonna give it a bit before I start the track. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

  4. Please everyone.....some of us hunt with bow, some with crossbow, others with pistols, shotgun or rifles. I have used everyone of these many times. I don't consider myself or anyone else any less of a hunter regardless of what type of weapon is used. Let's get back to being the best hunting website there is. Good stories, great pictures and the best comradely of any site. You are all great people with different priorities and all of you are correct. Good luck in the woods and may we see a few more pictures with stories of the great hunts we share.

  5. 11/11/2021 I did some blind grunting once it got light. He appeared a few moments later at about 55Yds. I grunted a couple of more times and he came right in. 18yd. shot and went about 20yds. and expired within sight. The Reconyx picture was taken just before I first saw him.

  7. Good luck to all you folks out hunting this weekend. I am getting ready for the long drive all the way across the state this morning (from NW to SE) for our daughter’s field hockey team’s playoff game(s). If they loose the first one, I might be able to make it back for a Sunday afternoon hunt. I will still be rooting for the win.

  8. Saw some big turds the other day but I talked myself out of what I was thinking. We’ve only seen 2 bears in almost 10 years on this property. Both were early Spring. Town of Rush.

  10. Caught another boar coon yesterday and spent the rest of the day hunting. Saw several deer again but nothing with antlers. Was able to get a shower at my rod and gun club…was great until I accidentally walked off the trail to my camp, right into a very muddy creek (was very dark out). At least I had a nice warm tent waiting for me… This mornings check finally yielded the elusive fisher! …And another coon. I also was invited to trap a beaver pond…set a few traps for them this afternoon…looks promising. Weather forecast tonight will test the water proofness of my tent…fingers crossed! My wife arrived this afternoon for a few day visit…again, fingers crossed that the tent doesn’t leak!

  11. Slept in till the rain cleared and headed out about 8:30. Got in my ladder stand and had text from my buddy that he had three small bucks all chasing one doe. Oh yeah, he’s in one of my stands. Two minutes later this guy strolls by at twenty yards. Good thing for him I’m hunting doe. And now I’ve got a spike trailing two doe just west of me out of range. Grunting like crazy but they want nothing to do with him. Wild first hour.

  12. Thing is your maliciousness is implied when you tongue in cheek call it a gun. It's not. So your example of bow during gun is warped. And of top of that it's completely legal, not sure when in your mind you are going to get over that but it's not going back to full bow and no crossBOW. Choose to believe what you want but calling it something it isn't backhanded then claiming you weren't trying to stir the pot is BS.

  17. Big six point came out ears pinned back and stiff legged at dusk to fight a fork horn that was bumping a doe. Took him left handed because i didnt want to risk moving too much as I was on the ground in a Rhino blind. My second buck with the crossbow. He is 16 inches wide dressed out at 155. I checked a camera and found a picture of him the day i killed him (November 8th) just on the other end of the farm.

  21. Had my target buck come in tonight behind the neighborhood does. 3.5yo 8 point. He worked a community scrape. I'm only on 5 acres behind a friend's house. He was mirroring one of the does... I climbed out of my tripod and the wind noise tonight got me to within 35yd on the ground but he stayed behind some brush. Very close.... Good luck all.

  26. Nov 8 sat in my notoriously good crusing spot for mornings. 6:55 have two 8 points cruising together across the field. They come right under me to 3 yards. The smaller of the two, whom was the leader, spotted me and they spooked out to 25 yards. At this point I was on them but had no shot. They calmed down and began walking, stoped him and squeezed the shot off, I can still see my arrow fletchings wack the only branch and drive bomb my arrow. The way he acted I didn’t think I really caused any type of fatal hit, white hair at hit site, clean arrow. In the mean time I recocked my crossbow in case a doe came in, at 7:12 two doe came on the same path but turned at 15 yards and gave me a perfect shot. Hit her good and she didn’t make it back across the field. I recovered my doe, left the area , and went to a friends house with the arrow, he inspected it and insisted their was a gut odor although I didn’t think so. I went back at 4 pm and confirmed it was in fact a gut hit, I called many tracking dogs but had no luck. I advanced the track about 50 yards and decided with the cold temps, property lines, I had to come back at first light. And secure permission from the next two properties which I did. 730 am we found blood after about 10 minutes and he stared to open up. We had steady blood the whole way as he entered some real thick stuff( we were on our hands and knees). After about 200 yards of blood we came upon him in his first bed dead. He probably died sometime last night. Coyotes and birds did not get him and I salvaged most of the meat. That’s a wrap for me till gun season. When in doubt, back out.

  27. Got my first deer license in sept of 1990, at 14 years old. Killed my first buck/deer Saturday afternoon Oct 21 1990. Thanks to my mother who drove me to our county house for the weekend so I could bowhunt. She was and is the best. In fact she would take me every weekend in season after that till graduated high school and once I started college I was on my own. Skipped a week of classes in my sophomore year of college and drove out to Montana to bowhunt elk. I was so far in over my head when I killed the dumbest scrub horn in the state, looking back on it was funny but I managed to get done. Since then I been lucky enough to have bow hunted deer in about a dozen or more states, one provenience and have bow hunted other game from Alaska through Canada to Mexico. Who would have thought a kid from Queens that would buy Bowhunter magazine at newspaper stand and read it cover to cover about bow hunting far off places and critters would end up living the dreams he had. I am ever grateful for the love and kindness that others have showed me in my life.

  34. So this is year number 2 for my opening day chili dinner. It's already more than tripled in size from last year. We had 12-15 last year and will almost be if everyone shows up we will be at 40 if not more this year. Its so big we had to move it to our local American legion. Their bar is open so they will make money on the beer sold plus renting it out to us. My goal was to start a tradition for the people who lost their hunting traditions and make some for the kids coming up. I've had people asking about it since August even people that I don't really associate with. A place people could tell their stories of the year and years past. Watching the older generation and the younger ones last year was my favorite part. Giving us crap for needing all this gear when they used to do it in flannel and jeans. Nobody bashed who shot what, what they used or their hunting tactics. Was there ball busting? Of course because it has a deer camp atmosphere. It was a place spouses laughed at the hunters for being excited like kids on Christmas eve. So why this post? Obviously not this year but next year if I chose an organization to donate to hunting related and gave some to my local legion. Would people be interested in coming to it for $10 to enter? It would be great to have a spot for hunters to come to. I have plans to make it a chili cook off competition, get local companies to donate for raffles and more. Just let me know if it's something anyone would be interested in coming to? It would be based out of my home town of Oxford. Which is 45mins north of Binghamton. Thanks for reading.

  35. He’s one of the biggest pot stiring guys here , and a poor backpedaling lier as well. Like most anti crossbow guys, they say it’s more like a gun , belongs in gun season , call it a cross gun . Then act upset when some guys try to hunt with it like a gun , which is it then ? If it’s a cross gun why not drive and walk around hunting with it like a gun ? If that’s wrong then maybe it’s a bow ? They’re so confused .

  38. 11/11/21 Kunox got the the call to track a leg hit buck this afternoon. The hunter had a frontal shot at 75 yards this morning while walking out to his blind at daybreak. He tracked 150 yards, then grid searched about 75 more when the blood stopped. Kunox needed a restart before getting locked on, but once he did, there was no stopping him. Several small pieces of bone were found in the first 150 yards. For a leg hit, this deer bled very little. He stayed in a relatively small area of around 50 acres, but stayed far enough ahead of us on this 1.8 mile track that we never saw him, just the occasional drop of blood. Kunox did open up once, so I know we were close. He did his job well.
