There’s a road killed doe about a mile up the road. We have a local eagle population that spend their time along the Cohocton River down the hill and I know of an active nest overlooking the river. I got these pics of them hanging around feeding on the carcass yesterday afternoon. Based on the feather color pattern and the sizes being the same, I believe the darker headed ones are golden eagles and not juvenile bald eagles. The pic of the golden in flight was the largest bird in the group. If that’s all correct, there were three bald eagles and four golden eagles in the area. I see baldies occasionally, but always single ones prior. And I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a golden for sure before this. I was able to creep up in the truck to within 100-ish yards and got these shots standing on the running boards. I did try to sneak up closer on foot, but that’s when they took flight.17 points

Well…now that we closed on our 150 acres where we are going to build our house, I need a tractor for land work…cleanup and maintenance. Going to buy the Mahindra 2660 with loader and 72 inch brush hog. Will buy a grapple bucket separately. Going brand new. I don’t want someone else’s headache. The dealer is 1.5 miles down the road. May pull the trigger Friday afternoon. I can’t rely on others and my wife and I are caged animals ready to play. We did a lot with just my side by side last summer but we need more.8 points

R1 tires are the way to go, unless you will be operating on pavement most of the time. R4 tires, that come on about 90 % of compact tractors, are far less effective on soft ground, mud, or snow.4 points

After a nice long 0.2 mile walk i stumbled across these matches side by side.. lol. I could see them at the bottom of one of my late season plots. This deer didnt show much at all during fall, until late season, he was here nearly every day bulking back. Might make the hit list this year!4 points

Signs of spring at the ranch. Venison burgers on the grill and the fish cleaning station is now open for business. Next weekend thinking test run on the lake. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk3 points

Most likely an immature Bald eagle. Here is a closer pic of one I took last summer . I watched them grow up all summer so I'm sure he was a young bald eagle.lol3 points

Originally I was getting the 2638 HST. My buddy who is a lifetime farmer went and looked at them for me and thought I should go bigger. So instead of 38 HP HST he recommends the 60 HP with shuttle. I went back and looked at them last night. He is probably right. For 5-6G over a lifetime I don’t want to regret going too small. Open cab for me. I don’t want to tear up a can in the woods and I like bring aware of my surroundings. I can get a soft cab for winter if I really need it.3 points

And of all places you find it over dirt.. one of the last places one would look for an antler that falls off in winter. lol. Almost as frustrating as Turkeys can be!2 points

I would focus on those bubble lines. And maybe tie another nymph on and then some type of indicator which would allow you get a more natural drift once mended.2 points

Did some public land grinding. #13, @67 miles for the year. Yesterday I Did 6 miles+ and got a pretty dandy one. Exciting that I can hunt this deer also. Time in the woods now is so key. You can see all of the sign and really cover ground before it gets super thick. Headed to some more public today, hanging cams and looking for birds.2 points

So with the kids we use plain nothing added ground venison a lot for many easy quick meals that the kids 2 and 7 yrs old approve of. I have a bacon mix we still have some of but I planned accordingly when I shot my KY buck this past season. I had them put as much as they could into roasts and "steak" so I could trim and grind it to my liking later. So just ground up and vac sealed another 14lbs. Crazy if I had to buy lean ground in the store, how much it'd cost! Been busy but figured I'd share. If you don't process your own you're missing out. Even use the equipment to do stuff on sale that's not wild game, not that there's much red meat on sale anymore. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk1 point

Back in my gun shop days I sold a couple of Astra Constables and they seemed to be decent quality, the customers had nothing but good to say about them. They are a Spanish cloned Walther PPK. I once owned a Walther PPK in 32 acp, it was one of my favorite pistols, I love the design but the 32 acp cartridge was a dog. I am not too crazy about the 380 either, I watched one of my hunting friends try to put a deer downed with a broken back out of it's misery with an AMT backup 380, the bullet bounced off the Deer's skull. I always wished Walther would beef up the PPK enough to handle 9mm, I would be standing in line with cash in hand to buy one. Al1 point

Dont rush into the wet areas.. I too was chomping at the bit to get started and I learnt the hard way when the first yr i buried my tractor upto the axels in mud R4 tires fill up with mud fast and give zero traction. Also if possible look into the Kioti tractors in comparison to the Mahindra1 point

Yes, I explained that when TFFJ wanted it, I pulled it from GC. They own it for a year, then I can put it back up. Working on a new piece on why this bag (seen here in Patagonia) is the greatest damn fishing bag ever invented.1 point

You will not be disappointed. That is how my grandma taught me many years ago. Heat it up in a pan with a can of mushroom gravy and a can of mushrooms and have over egg noodles. One of my favorite ways.1 point
