It's late.... would've posted earlier but I had to hurry up and get her in the deer fridge. Yearling doe. I thought it was a fawn but nope. Just a runt. Rage heads still work fine. Big cut when they go in at an angle. That was the exit. Had to really make sure it wasn't a button buck. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk37 points

Well that was an exciting hunt. I saw this buck in a cut cornfield about 250 yards away. I made a move, guessed right, got set up and ended up passing on a quartering-to shot through some brush. He made it to this field and was headed away. I turned him around with some calling, he came back towards me, but stayed just out of range and then slowly worked away from me. He’s not the biggest one around but now I have a bit of a grudge. Definitely had my blood pumping. Edit: This was the third buck I saw on it's feet between 7 and 8AM... apparently no one told them they shouldn't be moving in warm weather.14 points

After cutting a bunch of larch up a couple of months ago i was asked by the eldest at camp to make his wife some planter boxes. Was so nice today i figured id knock them out. 3x8 x 12in with poles for her hanging tomatoes. All just rough cut larch lumber.10 points

I switched to video three years ago and instantly realized how many deer I was missing. It can be a long process reviewing them, but I have caught so many great bucks (and a bear) in the last second or two of a 15 second video triggered by a doe or small buck. Here is a great example of what you can miss with still shots (00:19), I killed that buck three weeks later in that exact spot.9 points

I went out for a few hrs this morning. I sat from 530-930 then got down and stalked into what I thought was the big bucks bedroom to hope for a chance at him. This was my last chance since I'm having surgery tomorrow. I got to with in 9 yards of this smaller 8pt and had a 15 minutes stare down he couldn't figure out what I was and took off with a second buck who's rack I couldn't get a great look at.8 points

My corn is still standing. Around one side the adjacent road has 14 new scrapes on it. Not getting much on my trail cameras. Nice rub from today.7 points

This year i put up a trail cam on video right across from two cams i have on regular pics. WOW what a difference. The cams on pics only are missing so much. The difference is unbelieveable. In my 4 best buck stands i am going to all video for next year and use the cams that just take pics in some fringe areas and replace them as they go. On several of the cams i would get one blurry pic of a buck strutting by quickly the ones on cam set for 3 seconds of video show the true tale and provide so much more info. Glad i tried this experiment.4 points

A "crisp" 71 degree afternoon sit in 3S management property. Somebody didn't like that I cleared a little scrape and pissed on a pretty active run - it's all tore it up right now and I haven't been here in weeks. No cameras allowed so I've sent the prints to Biz for age and rack analysis. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

Used about 30 silhouettes and a dozen full bodies and 1/2 dozen sleeper shells. It was a Lay up hunt birds were hitting this field pretty hard so that means it was a ton of fun .4 points

I got the vaccine (also got covid but that's neither here nor there) the shot doesnt scare me but mandates do. This is not the polio vaccine and covid aint polio. I hate the vilification of those that chose not to get it. It doesn't prevent covid or stop the spread Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro4 points

Car is all packed for the morning hunt. Going to sit from dark until 2:00 unless I can get something before that. Going to focus on a ridge system from last year for the next couple days. The day I killed my buck last year he was one of 3 bucks on that ridge that I saw. The ridge wraps almost like a horseshoe around a thick swamp with a bunch of bedding in it. The bucks use the ridge to check for trails going in and out.3 points

Low photo count on cells yesterday. That said you still have to try. Wish work wasn’t in the way as this would likely have been the stand spot - right on a water source. Maybe today.3 points

Just got out of work I have 3 scheduled days to work from now until 11/30. The weather drop is looking great and have the wind I was hoping to have. I’ll be out the next 3 mornings until 2 in the afternoon if conditions allow.3 points

Crazy story. Hunted with all kinds of guides, including a couple that regular follow large wounded dangerous game; and their biggest apprehension from guiding is the hunter behind them with a loaded weapon. Enjoy the posts, lot to be learned from them. Stay safe.3 points

I believe there is no charge BUT there should be a mandatory "tip" to cover their expenses and time. Gas, dog food, headlights, flagging tape, cold High Life, first aid for the pups...that adds up. I would say minimum $50 just for a deer search to show up-but I bet he/they would try to refuse it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

We were supposed to do a goose/duck weekend this past weekend. But, the guys in my group bailed out due to the one-bird limit. I went up and had a good bow hunting weekend with a phenomenal wood duck shoot Monday morning before heading home.2 points

John sounds like an awesome hunt, and "from the ground" excitement! Good for you for passing on that shot, he will be back with his big brother!2 points

not going to stuff the freezer but she'll be delicious and the farmer wants the deer gone. Max helical on all my arrows for years now. They don't drop off enough trajectory wise at distance to cause concern. I even shot that same max helical and won in a 3D league/championship that was unmarked out to 80+ yards and they did fine. They spin hard and fly like they're guided missiles.2 points
