I have this area on the lease that was a crp field and Tacks and I were talking last year about putting in a late season plot in this area. The problem was we weren’t sure if a tractor/mower could cross the bridge to get to it . Have a friend who checked it out for himself and the plan was in place . It’s now brush hogged and sprayed. Disking it next week

Got a text from my niece who lives in the middle of the lsland. She said this buck comes into her complex every night and eats the bird seed. The picture isn’t that great but it sure looks like he has a bunch of stickers and trash definitely a big body deer. Funny thing he comes out of one the most heavily hunted parks on Long Island. The non-typical buck is one I could never connect with. I’ve seen a few but never got it done.

Well we ended 15 under and I drove a short par 4 for an eagle so I contributed a bit. Couple birdie puts and drives. Irons were not really my friend. Fun day. I will take the clubs out again next year.

You'll never guess what I did this morning beer.

That rifle isnt goin on that hunt. This just lays around till varmint season, maybe if i hunt my field during deer season. At about 13.5lbs its not much of a tree stand gun. This is my son and the much lighter rifle goin on the hunt.

Great shoot this morning over cut wheat. We killed 115 and ran out of shells. Nephew forgot to bring a case of shells. Lucky we had the shells we did.

Not bad. We were only 7 or 8 under last year. Wasn’t consistent but hit some good balls. I think we ended in second. One team posted 18 under. Didn’t stay for the dinner. But I am good until next year. Lol

Thats Hanger Clinic, a prosthetic office not far from where I went in Tx over winter. They are maybe an hour, or two away from the headquarters I go to, and are speaked VERY highly of. Reclaiming old Christmas tree fields to plant hasn’t been super easy but I’m happy for my first year with the property. Lots of other projects on the farm to do but these plots are doing ok. FWIW, this was all done with a 1025r HYDRO, single row JD planter. Fall plots are going in this week. The Brown truck just delivered my frigid forage order.

I just got back into golf this year. Been out 5 times so far. It’s fun and relaxing to me. I’m not very good but we have a few beers and some laughs. Once and awhile I’ll get a good drive off the tee lol. Been better on the irons and green than driving this year. Glad ya had a good time and you guys ended up with a decent score! I’m supposed to be playing a 4 man team scramble in a few weeks, looking forward to that!

Couldn’t get out all week. Settled a trial this morning so took a scouting run. Hundreds of birds using one of the cut wheat fields. Nephew and I are going to hit it in the morning in hopes of our first big number day. We shall see.

My guess is that because it is such a small town that when anything bad ever happens there the story gets exaggerated and blown out of proportion .

I heard some kids a few years back got there cars messed up cause they were taunting the teenagers that lived there but that could happen anywhere.... I know a couple people that live there... There a little off but If you do not mess with them they will not mess with you......

Rely on muscle memory, don’t overthink think things and let it come back naturally. Only things to think about , posture( sitting on a barstool, weight in balls of feet , loose left hand , right hand is a free ride , smooth tempo Other than that , it’s a scramble , enjoy it , you’ll contribute and other teams will cheat. Moog stick to your strengths! Golfers get shaken when you play a little defense. Blindside a couple of people before they drive and i guarantee that their game suffers. there is also the alcohol route. Drunk by the turn and then no one cares! or you can tell them you hate losing and tip over a golf cart. Thats at least a +22 handicap in your favor.

I'm never going to say preserve hunts is same as free range or wild animals. I have been on a few. Worst one I was on was 70 acres high fenced . Domestic animals . Pets even . 3 hrs of wandering through the petting zoo i went home . I refused to shoot an animal. Owner actually got belligerent about my snobbish attitude. Told me he would sue if i gave him a bad review. I told him good luck with that . Best preserve was over 500 acres and animals were tuff to hunt . Animals ran at a snapped branch had to be approached down wind . Closest thing to real hunting . Still was a target rich opportunity. It is what you make of it . I think it's a great place to start new hunters. It's a good time as far as group hunts . Bringing home the groceries could never be more fun.

We leave all our stands year round. We move a couple and add a couple every year but for the most part they stay put. Just check straps etc and replace as needed....

Unless its below 40, I try to at least quarter them up and get them refrigerated in less than 24 hours. It doesnt take long to skin and quarter, then you can butcher up the quarters later.
