  2. Got this bird in to 40 yards yesterday morning hammering the whole way but altho I could see the bird and could have shot it had I had a tag and gun jason couldn't see it So with all the rain and storms yesterday until it cleared off later we were going to try and roost him. Well just as yesterday morning later we watched 7 Jake's put a whipping on him and last night saw the same thing. We had a long walk and needed a lot of time as Jason's knee issues have gotten worse as the week went on. Also there is a fresh planted field along the narrow strip of woods I intended for us to set up in. So we had to walk past our Intended set up location go around the end of the new planting and back to our set up spot as I will not walk across fresh plantings. We set up within 100 yards of last night's fight location that went on at 830 PM. Figured he should be roosted close to there. It was foggy and dead quiet but I had already told jason a hen would be roosted close by as she has been there every day since March. Finally it was full light and i see 3 hens and a Male turkey working down to the corner from the south. Completely opposite from where I expected the longbeard to be, turns out it was a jake and he walked down thru the bottom and past me at 5 yards and out in the field in front of jason and he said I have never intentionally shot a jake last day last hour I still ain't gonna shoot one. 10 minutes later we hear a gobble from up top where the longbeard roosted the day before. I give him some sweet talk and he blasts back and the 3 hens to my left crank up. We see him walk right past the tree we were sitting against yesterday. 30 minutes later jason says here he comes he is in the grass walking straight to us. He fed his way stopping occasionally to strut and at 18 yards took a full load of #5 shot to the head. Jason needed to head back to ny this morning and we figured 8 am we would have to head for camp we had 15 minutes to spare. Had a great season, I watched 8 longbeards get shot, 2 Jake's get shot by the kids and 1 longbeard my granddaughter shot from the blind I set up for her and her dad. Will have to say I am flat wore out, been scouting and hunting since late Feb early March and have not missed a woods wake up since March 1st. Little over 7000 miles on the truck chasing these crazy birds but some great memories and some disappointment as my Nebraska and Ohio hunts got cancelled Tomorrow begins 2021 spring scouting. 3. Thanks everybody. Out trying for a late inning turkey. Lake was a big mess , could hear the waves hitting the breakwall from the house. So far 4 deer and this one at 15 yards and has some good horn coming in. One hen come in behind me clucking but no Tom with her. Heard one gobble about 6:30 a long way away. Hopefully he makes his way here.

  10. Well, that's promising...crows just flew over my area and shocked out a gobble. A good distance away but workable! Good to hear one, considering i haven't heard a gobble in over a week.

  23. I was fine with the old one, but my wife was afraid kids would ruin it. So the family heirloom stickley is in storage and she got this bad boy for everyday use. I call it the picnic table.

  42. If you'll take me fishing, I'll call Mrs Squirrel and tell her I work at the marina and explain why the cosmetic changes I made on your motor make it look different.. However, it might not work, because up here in Dogpatch we speak a different dialect than you speak down there in Lawn Giland...

  46. I still have my mq32 and used it as a back up a few seasons ago when I had limb delamination on new one, they wanted to put 70 lbs limbs on so I could still hunt I said no I'll wait for 60lbs I have a good back up.. picked it up was right on, one those sight are set and kisser button it's just like a rifle pick it up and can kill something with it 1st shot.. that is the biggest thing I've seen , no real need to practice 100s of arrows with a compound unlike a stick or recurve.. people wont admit it but compound with all the accessories and high let off is pretty much a x bow in ease of shooting.

  48. WOMAN SHOT IN THE HEAD Linda Burnett, 23, a resident of Arkansas, was visiting her in-laws and while there went to a nearby super-market to pick up some groceries. Later, her husband noticed her sitting in her car in the driveway with the car running and the windows rolled up. Her eyes closed with both hands behind the back of her head. He became concerned and walked over to the car. He noticed that Linda's eyes were now open and she looked very strange. He asked her if she was okay; Linda replied that she had been shot in the back of the head and had been holding her brains in for over an hour (at least it seemed that way to her, it actually had been 15 minutes, she blamed the inability to tell time on her head injury). The husband called the paramedics, who broke into the car because the doors were locked and Linda refused to move her hands. When they finally got in, they found that Linda had a wad of bread dough on the back of her head. From the back seat a biscuit canister had exploded from the heat, making a loud noise that sounded like a gunshot, and the wad of dough hit her in the back of her head. When she reached back to find out what it was, she felt the dough and thought it was her brains. She initially passed out, but quickly recovered. Linda is blonde, a Democrat, and a Biden supporter; but that could all be a coincidence. The defective biscuit canister was analyzed and it was determined to be Trump's fault.
