turkeyfeathers
You're doing the right thing and not let him suffer do to your own selfishness. My wife is a vet and sees this way too often. It was the worst 20 minutes of my life driving our prior golden retriever to be put down knowing Mulligan wasn't coming home with me. Pets are family and deepest sorry for your loss. Remember all the great times ,the hunts and he'll be waiting for you for the next big hunt in the sky. Deerthug
So sorry for your loss. I've lost one dog when I was in my 20's. Brandy lived with my parents until she was 14. She had a major tumor and would not have survived surgery. She suffered for a few weeks until we had no choice. I moved out a few years before and it did not faze me too much. But my present pooch Milo is like my third child. He's only 3 but I can't imagine having to put him down when his time comes. I tell my wife that the best thing to do is get another. She refuses. We shall see. Until then..... I'll enjoy Milo's company for as many years as I he gives us.
