Sad situation, thoughts and prayers to all effected.

In a "cut bean field"?????? ..................Really?

Yeah that is what happens when you shoot at a dark spot before sunrise or after sunset. Of course I don't want to jump conclusions it could have been an accidental discharge standing next to the person.

2 Things I want to know is if all of these accidents are rifle related? And if they are, is DEC regretting allowing rifle throughout most of the state now?

Broke all four  of the " four gun  safety rules."

1. Treat all guns as if they're loaded

2. Don't point muzzle at anything you'er not willing to destroy

3. Keep your bugger hook off the bang switch, until on target and ready  to fire.

4. Be sure of your target and what's beyond it

,myself id like to see charges , and more then loss of license and a fine .

These incidents should be a lifetime loss of license if not caused by mechanical failure of the fire-arm. On top of any charges that might be forthcoming. I am always nervous hunting in groups with unknown people. Which is why I avoid it usually and stay well clear of the property boundaries.

Who could honestly hunt with a gun ever again if you accidently shot someone? I don't think I could ,I'm not even sure I could sit in a treestand with a bow .

A lot of the people I hunt with get a little miffed when I check to see if they are being safe at all times.  No loaded chambers when going in, or coming out either.  Some think I shouldn't, but I'm not going to stop.  I think we should all be checking on everyone we hunt with.  If they don't like it, don't hunt with them.

I had a friend who had his son some out in the field with us rabbit hunting from a very young age..  He had him carry a stick that he told him was supposed to be a gun..  He had him treat the stick like a gun and used it to tech him where the muzzle was pointed at all times.   It is something her learned from his father..   I thought that was a great learning technique and something a lot of people could use before a real firearm ever goes into their hands.

It is so sad when accidents like these happen...   you can not "undo" a mistake when it comes to firearms

I do same thing with my kid except with a pumped bb gun with no bb. That way if he pulls trigger I hear it but nothing comes out. 1 mistake I take it away for day and we try again next time. He's very very good with it now. Now he gets the bb in the chamber been doing it sence he was 4 he is now 6.

Funniest thing ever was watching him try to shoot chipmunks with no bb...he'd get so mad when he always missed
