Wow, i am right there with you.  Padded some small 8 pointers last year, due to a MASSIVE buck I saw twice that I truly could not get a clear shot on.  Passed on a nice 7 point with its 8th busted off in 2015.  Truly need to cut the crap, and add to my freezer.  Good luck, let me know how you make out...

no one told the deer it was to warm.... He came in chasing 5 doe which are walking past me on the ground at 40 yards tight now !

Well there is a dispute  between papist and lawdwaz about aging deer on the hoof in the field

Sat until 10am today had a doe group come by out of range and 30 mins later had a 2.5 year old 8 pt following their trail.. wasn't interested in bleats or grunts... jumped 2 bucks on the way out... one very big.. saw multiple deer and multiple bucks from the thruway tonight walking does in circles.. good luck this week all

So I didnt see anymore deer after about 7:50 this morning from the stand. I did see 3 about 4-500 yards away up the hill, but thats it. Im still not 100 percent if that was a buck I saw, but im pretty sure it was. I heard antlers hitting brush in the direction i saw the deer and I did see a flash of white around the area the head should be. Definitely one of the biggest bucks ive ever seen from stand because it looked like a giant from that far out. Im hopeing the snow on thursday will get him past my stand

A lone doe came out into the field about 410. This guy followed her out just before legal time was up. I was already packed up and ready to try and slip out of the blind without spooking the doe. I was just about to stand up and this guy came waltzing out of the tree line headed right for the doe. She’s around 45 yards out. He runs towards her nose to the ground and stops broad side at 40 yards. I had no time to wait, I drew back, settled the pin and let her rip. Perfect double lung shot right behind the shoulder. He ran about 50 yards before piling up. I was shaking for a good 10 mins after the shot. I am so excited I finally got to arrow this guy. Been watching this buck for the last 2 seasons.

Going to let him hang tonight and take better pictures tomorrow before I drop him off at the butcher.

This is probably my last hunt of the archery season. Back to the blind that I've had the most sightings of the big 9, (3) that I've been playing with these last few weeks. It's been an honor to hunt him, and to have a buck like that on our property. 

Been a real fun season so far! Been close, but not close enough, on a couple of real nice bucks. Passed on a bunch of younger ones. Lets see what today brings!

Having stand anxiety this morning. Not sure where to sit given the conditions. I will probably split the day into two areas with a mid-day scout for snow tracks in-between. Hoping for a nice wall-hanging trophy this year. No apologies. I have antler fever this year. Lovin it!

Out in 3g. 29° and light wind from NE. Clear skies and sun is peeking over the horizon. Crosswbow and doe tags with me. The volume on the leaves was turned up to 11 with this morning frost. Hope nothing was close to my trail cause they are long gone now.

      Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike?       What are the best steps carry a bow on your back?

      The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
      You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

      A Hunter's Obligation to Know the Rules

      Just want to relay an experience I had this weekend regarding hunting regulations and other hunters.
      I've had several  hunter's tell me last weekend(10/12/2020) that muzzleloader was open, it is not. I also had two other hunters last weekend confront me as to why my son was carrying around a rifle and hunting deer. I calmly explained the youth weekend and the rules around it. After that everything was cool and we continued our hunt.
      I know at the end of the day we're all trying to participate in a sport we love and maybe harvest some game. My thought is to just make sure you're up on your local hunting regulations. Not just so you are within the rules, but also so you can assert your right to be where you are, hunting the way you're hunting.
      I know when I have been operating outside of the regulations I have appreciated a person respectfully correcting my ignorance and I try to pay it forward by being informed and respectfully educating when required.

      Bolt Action with Pistol Grip

      I am in the process of purchasing my first rifle to go hunting deer for the first time.  However, I have received contradicting information regarding the types of rifles that are legal.  Based on what I have read, it appears that I am able to use a bolt-action rifle with a pistol grip and a detachable magazine which holds 10 rounds.  However, I have been told that this is not the case. I can't seem to find where this is stated.  Can any one here provide me with some insight into this? I'd really appreciate it.
