Got mine in the mail today . I think this makes 19 years of doing the Sighting Log . Did anyone else get theirs ?

I had done them for years. Annoyed that you can't put two locations in a day and always wondered how they calculated deer sightings.   If you hunt the same area and put down you saw the same 4 deer everyday is it an accurate count?

You get the satisfaction that you helped supply information to the DEC . I have received a 5 , a 10 and a 15 year patch for doing the surveys .

Did itr for about 5 years in a row and got my patch. They haven't sent me one in a while don'y know why?

I've never got one or fiiled anything out and they just mailed me one . I'm guessing they got my name off the academy's application for tax exempt status.

If thats true they did their homework because that was all filed under a shell corporation, WNY Lightscapes

My grandson just got one in the mail on Friday. This is his first year as a regular hunter, (no longer a Jr hunter) as he's only 16. So I assume that they just draw randomly, to do the survey. I have never had one sent to me.

That’s a shame...as “students” you should expect heightened protections and security around your personal info. I also heard that not everyone sent in their signed permission to attend the field trip to Dino’s. Slippery slope!

I dont think its completely random. If you request a copy then they'll gladly give you one. more participation the better. I havent gotten mine yet.

They never sent me a fifteen year patch, .

I got one today never requested it they just sent it i keep a log of my hunting anyway so i can always look back but they should do something for people that actually complete it maybe no fee for your tags the next season

Then people would just get them and forge the numbers to hand one in . Theres still enough honest people to just do it to help the cause.
