Was going to go for one last chance at deer but this guy wanted to tag along for his first hunt for I switch up to squirrels. His constant chatter scared everything away but I take it as an investment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk7 points

The tree is phony but decorated with love. Almost every ornament on the tree is from my father and his wife. When the kids were young she'd get us an ornament to commemorate the past years special moments. Kinda neat.........4 points

And somehow Bushnell is supposed to cover all of your specific needs because your Weaver scope failed. Got it. Bushnell makes at least 50 different rifle scopes. Something should fit the bill.3 points

I actually made a new ice fishing friend on a new lake today. I was the only one out there about 3:00. I used a lake map to get near a drop off to try and find some crappies moving up for an evening bite. For the first half hour all I was getting was a bunch of 7-8 inch, skinny perch. About that time i hear someone coming through the crunchy snow, and he comes right at me. Instead of walking right on by when I greeted him, he stopped and bullshitted for a couple minutes, telling me he is after crappies too, and there is another shelf that he found about 20 feet from me. I asked if he was going to fish it and he said he didn't want to crowd me out. I told him to drill and fish away, and if he got on the crappies, i would come over and crowd him. Well, he gets a crappie right off the bat and tells me to get over there and grab a different hole. I proceed to start reeling them in almost as fast as I can get the bait down, while he has a full screen and hardly any bites. We compare baits, and it's easy to see that my setup is a lot smaller than his, but he doesn't have any jigs and plastic comparable. I dig in my jig box and give him a couple 3 mm jigs like I am using, and some spikes. He is instantly reeling them in right with me. It was an awesome hour and a half until we just flat ran out of light. As it was, we were using out fish finders to see our poles at the end. He kept 6 crappies about a foot long, and I kept none, and he was happy about that. I said i had a christmas dinner later, and didn't want to bother with the fish cleaning when i could be back there tomorrow. This is a perfect example why I like to hunt and fish socially so I have somebody else working with me instead of against me. Probably going to end up being one of my top days of fishing this winter.2 points

We did our traditional Polish Christmas Eve meal for my wife's family. On the menu was cheese tray, shrimp tray, crab dip, horseradish-mayo baked haddock, green bean casserole, 4 types of perogis, lobster tail, cream cheese-potato soup, ice cream cake, cookies, chocolates, et al. We do it buffet style. Pictures aren't the greatest, but here are some.2 points

A quiet evening ahead after an afternoon gathering at Rising Storm, our favorite local brewery. A Breif History of Hops from Reinvention Brewing in Manchester. Listed as a NEIPA but tastes more like a classic IPA. Light on the citrus flavor but a nice bitter hops bite.2 points

Here's ours, my wife and I ride our motorcycles to warsaw and pre tag the tree. Then we go back and cut it early December. Been going to the same tree farm for at least 30 years! I don't remember the original name but it's called Bird Haven now. We used to make a day out of it when the kids were young, now it's just the 2 of us so we make a ride out of it. Most of the ornaments are home made or gifts but all have a special place in our hearts. I actually get a little choked up decorating it without the kids as they are both out of town.2 points

It was tough to get the right shot angle, with him out front, and all those other reindeer in the hitch backing him up. I had to pass. Pygmy says they are not very good eating post-rut anyhow.1 point

Crimper has plates across the roller. As it turns it knocks the cover crop down but also “crimps” multiple spots along the stalk to compress and kill the cover crop.1 point

I'm using wax dirt. I've never had any luck with peat moss in the winter. Once it gets wet and freezes , the set becomes inoperable.1 point

Well my dad’s cookies won again His thumbprint cookie recipe has been coveted by all who ate it and for some reason he would never share it. He’s gone 13 years and the 5 years prior he was unable to make them due to Parkinson’s. I was trusted with the recipe and would make them with/for him. Always fondly remember him when making those cookies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

So after debating for 2 days on where to go i decided to hit up a spot on stateland in 7p i scouted this summer. Think i even made a post about it. At 620 i finally get to the ridge i wanted to sit. Its about 1.25 miles in finished getting dress and my area setup i hear something running and here comes 6 deer flying past me and up the hill. I thought they had all moved past. Well at 730 i needed to readjust so i stand up slow and up jumps 2 deer under 50yrds away both does. 800 i saw one sneaking through the brush going the other way. About 830 i hear a deer coming in finally get eyes on it and its a basket 6 more then willing to take it but he came down wind saw him run 200yrds and kaboom someone else killed him watched the deer fall. 900 i decided i couldnt see enough so shifted up the hill. By 10 didnt like my spot again so i get ready to move over 20yrds and i hear a deer coming ends up being a doe she walked within 10yrds of me. Waited 20 mins to make sure a buck wasnt coming and moved over. No more than 20 mins later i hear crashing here comes a doe flying past at 80yrds with a small buck trotting behind. No shot on him then i saw a huge body buck running through with a decent rack. That was it until 4. At 4 i got up to stretch and thought what i heard was a grey squirel running behind me so i didnt pay attention to it. But it kept getting louder and finally see an ear flicker. Its a doe at 50yrds feeding on something. At this time i think i can hear 2 but couldnt tell. So i slowly sneak down onto my knees and get ready well doe gets to an opening about the time i put my shooting stick in the snow and it crunched. We got in a stare down for a couple minutes. During this i finally tell there are 2. Well she looks back and i glance over and all i see is a nose poking out behind a tree. Then i hear a grunt she jumps away so i get saftey off and lock into the opening. I see the buck enter my scope stop where she did and squeezed. Didnt move an inch. 2nd biggest buck both stateland in 7p and both since 2016. Had a friend 300yrds away who sprinted over to celebrate, brother showed up along with a hunting buddy who also filled his tag on a 6.(hunting together since we were 12 first time ever doubling on a buck). Drage was about 1.4 miles phone died on way back to truck so dont no exact distance. Have a pic of them helping drag but wont load. Buddies buck is last picture.1 point
