Built a new bench and used some left over vinyl plank flooring for the top. I didn’t like having my presses bolted permanently to the bench. So I had some 2 inch squared tubing laying around and I bought a harbor freight receiver hitch that bolts to a bumper and bolted it to the bottom of my bench . Drilled a hole and welded on a nut and installed a thumb screw to tighten when I install the press . Welded a piece of angle iron to the squared tubing and bolted on some left over pieces of 2x6 for the press mount. Works pretty good I’m very happy with it z8 points

Sure can, I used bed liner to coat the steel and wood . The angle iron is actually old bed frame rails I had laying around . This is the hitch receiver I bought . https://www.harborfreight.com/3500-lb-step-bumper-receiver-69673.html I also welded up a storage rack for my presses.5 points

Well it looks like as of right now we will be going to pa for a 4 day bow hunt. Right now we have 5 guys planning on going. We will be hunting state game lands 175 and 35 which is located near Hallstead which is just over the border. Dates we are looking at are 6-10, 13-17th of October I would like to go later but most of us have kids birthdays at the end of the month and early november. We wanted a cheap trip and there is a campsite nearby with camper parking, cabins and tent sites for cheap. So I think we can do it for around $200-300, 100 being just for the tags. Since it's only 1.5hrs away we plan on making a saturday or a couple saturdays to go put boots on the ground. I have been doing some scouting using huntstand to find transition areas, saddles, water, ect. Nice thing is being so close it wont be the end of the world to go down another time for a day hunt or 2. I'll be posting on this as we put plans, scouting or anything else for the trip together. This will be all of our first time hunting put of state. To harvest a deer would be great but to go hang out with a bunch of close friends and relax and bs will be good enough.3 points

I grew up slogging through that Adirondack mud and fishing backwoods beaver dams and stained water streams. Maybe I'll add brook trout fishing to my list for this year in more frequency. I remember when the limit was 10 trout and one could fill that any given day with some small bullhead throw into the mix. My grandmother had an electric fry pan that cooked may a trout that were so fresh they curled as the cooked....and my grandfather, being from Utica, sat on the porch drinking Utica Club or Carling Black Label beer from a can...3 points

Made a big pot of soup. White canneli beans and homeade smoked sausage, spinach, carrots, celery, onions, chicken stock, garlic and herb spices. Garlic bread with it for dinner tonight. But had to try half a bowl for lunch.3 points

Age, finances, health all play a factor. I was sidelined for 2019 with health issues, never a thought for me before then. Lost interest in hunting with that deal for a spell. But the biggest is time. I'm back on it for a trip this fall where a second hunter could spend just the cost of airfare over your 3k to one of the premier hunting concessions anywhere; but its going to be 15 or 16 days away and no cell phones for 11. That's out of comfort zone for most to be away from home. And it's going to be stupid hot & long days well into the night afield, where I thrive and most wilt. Hard to get anyone to sign up for that. The Pa trip is great, close enough to scout, cheap, and lots of fun. Do it while you can and make some memories.3 points

Some of us just got old and once we retired and were on a fixed income, the money dried up... Also, such hunts are MUCH more expensive than they were when I was doing them.....I did an Alaska DIY float trip in 1989 ... The hunt, which included float plane flying from Anchorage to and back from The Mulchatna River ( west of the AK range) renting rafts and equipment was $1100 for one hunter... You could do the whole trip door to door from NY for $3K per person, including airfare to and from AK, if you didn't spend too much money at the The Great Alaska Bush Company.. Not that I ever went there...3 points

Since the civil war ended 156 years ago, I'd say the southern traitors your rallying against are dust by now and probably don't have access to the internet either, but who knows if Al Gore hasn't made the internet available to the deceased ?3 points

Title says it all, covid has allowed many including myself and others on the forum to dive into gardening. Last year was my first growing from seed I believe I had 80 plants plus watermelon, corn, zucchini and sunflower from seed. I started my first tray of 60 plants today and plan on starting about 200 seeds. Hope I have the same luck as last year minus the deer entering and destroying my garden at the end of September. Looking forward to doing more canning as well, I'm inspired by Otto.2 points

It's called public land for a reason, so what makes you the elite bowhunter more entitled to this land than a crossbow hunter?2 points

What's sad are ass hats who come to a hunting forum to post 80% political bullshit, piss and moan about everyone and everything under the sun, and generally do nothing but disrupt what the damn site is supposed to be about adding nothing at all of substance. That's sad!2 points

Yea whatever ... so two people out of all the others have an issue with where it’s posted ... report it and have it moved .. God forbid If someone sees this as political and the OP doesn’t .. Like this is that important to start name calling ??? Maybe some people need to get a life... I really don’t think this is a huge issue2 points

Here is a pile of sheds from the outfitter in Saskatchewan I hunted with a couple of years ago. He picks them up from the thousands of acres of grain fields when farming. They are big problems for him, they puncture high cost tractor tires. He was really pissed off at his dad the following year when I returned. A stranger had stopped by the farm when he was away in town. The guy offered his dad $200.00 for the whole pile and his dad sold them to him. He thought he was doing his son a favor by making room in the barn.2 points

Here is most everything you need to know . Your listing says its off market right now . Dont know why but it says that . It was listed in 2017 for $349,000 but never sold and there is nothing showing any new listing or price drop to under $200,000 . The land is 50 acres with a 200 sqft cabin and a shed that are listed as being on the land as an " Improvement " but from what I see , they dont list any value . Here is your county tax card for that address . A couple from Florida own it . Looks like they purchased it in 1969 but it doesn't show the purchase price . Im sure it was dirt cheap then. I had a Delta Point with the Delta (triangle) reticle. I loved it because you could be pretty precise with the tip of the triangle or fast with that size “dot”. I sold it a long while back and regret it. Had it on a GP100 for a time and it was fun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Communists love hot lines that loyal minions can call to turn in their neighbors. They call to curry favor with authorities and punish those who don't conform. It sadism lite. Maybe there's hope if it gets moved to the political forum, it can get locked too.1 point

Swap sounds like an awesome trip....keep us posted as details unfold. My buddy and I are in the very early stages of planning for taking my son...turning 7 in May to hunt PA for a mentored hunt maybe the fall he turns 9. If they drop the age in NY to 12 for big game hunting we may start him a year early cause I believe you can hunt 3 years with a mentor license before needing to take the hunter education course. Like I said very early stages.....but we got the wheels spinning and may put some boots to the ground this summer. Sent from my SM-A716V using Tapatalk1 point

no traffic light makes me want to go there more. Good luck on the gobbler. Love the Indian lake area. Chimney Mtn and Kings Flow is just an incredible spot. Used to get a cabin there for a long weekend every year1 point
