  1. Going to try keep this as up to date as possible this year. I’ve scouted a bunch of pieces since last winter and have been letting cameras soak most of the summer. I’ve got 3 bucks I’m targeting that I’ve personally seen and 1 I’ve only heard rumors about but will see if I can get on sign from it. seasons right around the corner and have some last minute things to finish up and practice some more with my climbing setup so I have the least amount of screwups on opening day. Only have a couple goals this year. 1 is to get my father on a decent buck or just able to get into the woods, hopefully get a buck with my bow big enough for a shoulder mount, improve on my outdoor/hunting skills some more, and spend sometime with friends and family enjoying what we love. Below are the 3 big main bucks I’m hoping to track down this year. The wide 7 I had an encounter with last year. can’t wait for the chest match to begin. Good luck to all those going out this year.

  3. I will be 20 yards to the right of where this deer is standing in this pic. Probably do a dark to dark 10/1 as he used this route both coming and going. I will have to get in very very early Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. I pulled some non-cell cams saturday that sit on my plots and was just overwhelmed with the amount of deer grazing. Just being hammered at night by doe and bucks alike. I am getting some solid buck activity here and there right before dusk and right after dawn so that will be my first week of october hunt plan before I leave the area alone till halloween. my fall plot is super patchy but growing very well. I'm confident with better spring and summer mowing I wont have the thatch next year and it wont be so patchy.

  5. Same stand I've killed 3 opening day doe from except this year I can walk there from my house!!! What are the chances of buying a house with a trail leading directly to your most productive stand? Feeling pretty blessed this year Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

  6. Gave the tractor a good workout the last few weeks. I love everything about it. Moved a bunch of logs then this weekend I mowed the swail for the last time and took on some new areas that the trail mower would not do. Love the tractor. Massy M 35!

  7. Spent alot of time trying to find something in NY this past week and nothing. Deer season is underway now in Ohio so I am trying to balance hunting-related time spend and searching for a purchase property. Logistics are not friendly as a few parcels I want to look into are 3-4 hours away from our leases in Ohio. Hard to hunt PM and look for property in AM that way. Interest rates keep going up so that is not cool. Cheaper Ohio properties all seem to be hilly/contiguous woods. Not alot of primary edge or transition habitat on the market. Still interested in 2-3 parcels and will try to make a visit second weekend in Oct. if still on the market.

  8. Went for a ride tonight and the big 7 has shifted almost 2 miles away. However he had a new friend a giant 10pt I haven’t seen this year. So I’m going to have to see what I can come up with on that chunk of stateland. Still haven’t been able to find the split g2 buck that was hanging out with the big 7 all summer.

  9. Rare is the Opening Day of archery that I've hunted. I do have an idea where I'll hunt for my first outing, depending on wind directions of course. Not sure when I'll get out for the first hunt but am looking forward to it. Some left shoulder issues have me on edge a bit too, a torn labrum and severe tendinopathy in my long head bicep tendon make shooting quite difficult. I'm two weeks into some PT and things seem slightly better.

  11. Well today was a first. Woken up by my stepson because there is a frog in the house. Yes I have dealt with bugs or rodents but never amphibians. He was too scared to pick up the little bugger. Tree frog of some sort. Has anyone else ever had a frog in the house? Not going to lie, I tossed it off the two story deck. Hope they land like cats. Just seemed really odd to me. And I pay for regular pest control. mostly posted because I am bored. Best all!

  16. Spread about 30lbs of fertilizer on my plot, since I had it. Everything is growing ok. Like most of you, I struggled with dry conditions. Now about half of my plot is too darn wet. Some parts are great. Some parts are squishy. Some parts are covered in standing water. It'll be what it'll be. Trimmed out my natural blind in the hedgerow. Paced out 35 yards in two shooting lanes and marked them with some ash branches that still had leaves on them. Checked two cameras. Big doe, medium doe, last year's fawns (one's a button) and 2 eight pointers. One is 2.5 and the other is 3.5. At least that's what I think, since I have pics of them from last year. Also a small flock of hens and poults. I plan on hunting here at the house early season. Partly because I still have some work to get done and partly because those bucks are hanging around. I don't have any great bucks on camera at our family farm, yet. Plenty of deer over there, so I'm hoping to take a doe or maybe two from the several hundred acres I can hunt in that area. Hard to believe it's almost the best time of year! Went to the apple orchard and got some cider, apples, and apple cider donuts. Shot the Xbow. Worked on firewood. If I can just get a couple more jobs finished up - the rest of the fall will be MINE!

  20. Interesting .... I'm going to be listing my property in about one month with a realtor associated with Zillow . I've been hunting this property for 40 plus years and it produces every year . Part of the property has been zoned to be wetlands ( according to DEC ) but there is lots of road frontage and a good spot to build a structure . Getting older and can hunt behind my house if I'm still up to it ! Its a strangely shaped piece of property but it has a nice stream running through it and is decent hunting . I've pretty much gotten the Trespassers under control - they are now fully aware of the cameras thanks to the local PD ! Naturally I'll be looking to sell after Hunting Season !

  25. Fixed price red stag in Romania; $3450. Current by a very good outfitter. With the Euro being down to the US dollar thats a pretty good price; with airfare via Iceland, about the same as an elk guided out west. Most European hunts get expensive because its usually a sliding scale on trophy fees base on weight of skull and antlers or horn length in addition to day rate. But with many US hunters they’ll offer a fixed price for a trophy fee for several outfits/agents. And no you can’t bring back meat (you can bring Red Deer from New Zealand, that would be interesting adventure in and of itself), and shipping and associated fees like vet certificate/shipping/etc to import trophy are additional in some cases. Sometimes you can bring back in luggage, but thats dependent on country and export permits. If you poke around there are some good deals for an experience on Scottish hill stag, Roe deer and Fallow in several places. Ibex and Chamois get kinda pricey depending on sub species and country. Management hunting can be a way to keep costs down. Driven Boar is a hoot, the whole deal is an event. Highly recommended Hunting international isn’t exactly cheap, but it offers interesting experiences for different game in different environments. More often then not they can be multi species/ multi animal so if you are successful, you keep hunting for the term of the hunt.

  26. I used the new garbage picked “trap-checker” for the first time today. It worked well for that. There is a good suspension on it. Side benefits are: free workout and saves me gas. I need to rig up a shovel holder and gun rack for it. There were no coons in the traps today though. We picked and froze most of the remaining sweetcorn on Friday. I will probably move the traps to the 2 acre fieldcorn plot out back on Monday, with the Durango, if it stops raining. The coons haven’t touched that, but the deer have eaten about a third of it already. The chief culprit now rests comfortably in my freezer, so hopefully the remaining 2/3 makes it, at least till opening day of gun season. Keeping the coons trapped out of it will help a lot with that.

  31. A PLANE IS ON ITS WAY TO TORONTO , WHEN A BLONDE IN ECONOMY CLASS GETS UP AND MOVES TO THE FIRST CLASS SECTION AND SITS DOWN. THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT WATCHES HER DO THIS AND ASKS TO SEE HER TICKET. SHE THEN TELLS THE BLONDE THAT SHE PAID FOR ECONOMY CLASS AND THAT SHE WILL HAVE TO SIT IN THE BACK. THE BLONDE REPLIES, "I'M BLONDE, I'M BEAUTIFUL, I'M GOING TO TORONTO AND I'M STAYING RIGHT HERE." THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT GOES INTO THE COCKPIT AND TELLS THE PILOT AND THE CO-PILOT THAT THERE IS A BLONDE BIMBO SITTING IN FIRST CLASS, THAT BELONGS IN ECONOMY AND WON'T MOVE BACK TO HER SEAT. THE CO-PILOT GOES BACK TO THE BLONDE AND TRIES TO EXPLAIN THAT BECAUSE SHE ONLY PAID FOR ECONOMY SHE WILL HAVE TO LEAVE AND RETURN TO HER SEAT. THE BLONDE REPLIES, "I'M BLONDE, I'M BEAUTIFUL, I'M GOING TO TORONTO AND I'M STAYING RIGHT HERE." THE CO-PILOT TELLS THE PILOT THAT HE PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE THE POLICE WAITING WHEN THEY LAND TO ARREST THIS BLONDE WOMAN WHO WON'T LISTEN TO REASON. THE PILOT SAYS, "YOU SAY SHE IS A BLONDE? I'LL HANDLE THIS, I'M MARRIED TO A BLONDE. I SPEAK BLONDE." HE GOES BACK TO THE BLONDE AND WHISPERS IN HER EAR, AND SHE SAYS, "OH, I'M SORRY." AND GETS UP AND GOES BACK TO HER SEAT IN ECONOMY. THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT AND CO-PILOT ARE AMAZED AND ASKED HIM WHAT HE SAID TO MAKE HER MOVE WITHOUT ANY FUSS. "I TOLD HER, 'FIRST CLASS ISN'T GOING TO TORONTO."

  32. I hunted 3M last Sat 9.17 and Sun 9.18. I didn't see a bear. The sweet corn they were in two weeks ago dried up and died. Very, very dry there. Walked some cow corn but never put eyes on one. Fun nonetheless. And then last night I get the pics. Killed last night. In the cow corn where I walked. Close range gun kill. I don't have all the details and I doubt it was weighed, but what say you? Put a weight on it.

  34. My arrows aren't even that fast because of the weight,I think just under 250 fps but I could tell the difference and my hearing is not the best as my wife will confirm. And it isn't just selective either, haha. I did not shoot them.for long though,so not much anecdotal evidence.

  37. I'm having the same shoulder issues I have a torn labrum in both shoulders and some nerve pain going from my neck and into my hands. I've been in PT since February I finally have the right shoulder surgery scheduled for 10/27 and the left will get surgery when the right gets better. I hope you get yours fixed soon and you feel better.
